I googled it, and there's good news! Their conservation status is now Least Concern (Population stable). They are also being bred as pets now, and with the right care they thrive, much like this little one. It could well save the species if they decline again, though there would still need to be zoological programs to keep their natural behaviors honed for release into the wild. The pet population should make it easier to keep a larger genetic sampling, preventing inbreeding problems. Decent zoological programs won't overcrowd them and don't have nearly enough funding for all of the animals they're trying to save. It's wonderful that they're so happy as pets! Look for some of the stories yourself. They really create deep bonds. Owners do need to be aware of their special needs, as with any exotic animals, including parrots to ferrets. They are prone to loneliness if not kept in pairs. I watched one channel in particular for a while as he had really done his research. He had two of these little sweethearts, I learned a lot from him. He gives them the best life, they're deeply bonded to him and go almost everywhere with him. I can't help cringing at the "So cute! I want one" comments on so many videos showing sugar gliders. I can only hope that they do the basic research on the animal before impulse buying, and get two. This little one may be different, as that's Momma now. Still, they really love having someone to snuggle with when they sleep or when they're not with their human. Not having this can lead to anxiety and depression.

@@Cheshyre. Read up about the sugar glide. They need to be outside they need to be cuddled and it takes a lot of work. That's like saying don't take your baby outside. They need to go outside in the late afternoon to get sun for natural vitamin C. Playing outside for exercise running jumping. And the most important thing apparent to do for their child is having them to learn how to swim even before they learn how to walk. I mean I'm just saying I had two children five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren,🤷♀️

@@PipocakI think everyone knows this already. I know that there are a lot of forest fires, but most forest fires here are not started by humans who are trying to be malicious. It's caused largely by unattended campfires, flying debris, cigarettes, etc It's more from the result of people not being mindful, or educated on the risks, and not practicing fire safety, especially when the environment is extremely dry. This is the main cause of forest fires here in America. Im not sure what the main cause of forest fires are anywhere else, so I can't really say for sure.

Read up about the sugar glide. They need to be outside they need to be cuddled and it takes a lot of work. That's like saying don't take your baby outside. They need to go outside in the late afternoon to get sun for natural vitamin C. Playing outside for exercise running jumping. And the most important thing apparent to do for their child is having them to learn how to swim even before they learn how to walk. I mean I'm just saying I had two children five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren,🤷♀️

@@PipocakI think everyone knows this already. I know that there are a lot of forest fires, but most forest fires here are not started by humans who are trying to be malicious. It's caused largely by unattended campfires, flying debris, cigarettes, etc It's more from the result of people not being mindful, or educated on the risks, and not practicing fire safety, especially when the environment is extremely dry. This is the main cause of forest fires here in America. Im not sure what the main cause of forest fires are anywhere else, so I can't really say for sure.
