Silver paint replacing the grey plastic would work wonders for this! You say you've got a Top 10 Worst Repaints video planned for Plastic Addict. Will you do the Top 10 Best as a stand-alone video?
To point the spider legs to the front in robot mode is actually show accurate because in this way he and Blackarachnia used them as machine guns. And his buzz saw was as well a blaster. And for the shoulders you have to rotate the wheel halfs more forward to peg/clip them in.
I loved the idea of the transmetals having that third pseudo-vehicle mode. It added to nearly all of the figures and offered a tertiary value of play that we've generally dubbed as rare (triple changers). I mean it's definitely strange but it works very well. I always found TM2 Megatron's transport handle to be the strangest though. The v-tolls(?) were good but the rollerblades...
Great damn mold... I adore the TM1 figures! I skipped this repaint...and i wish I hadn't! Great looking scheme on the Fox Kids version. TJ, fantastic review, per usual! The spider "fangs" are called pedipalps! As mentioned in an earlier comment, the standard transformation has them spun around so they curve downward...which requires a good grind on the knee ball joints. Don't you love the comments sections? :p
+Jetfire48 Why did I just read that as 'unicorn herald'? XD That would have to be purple, pink, and endorsed by WWE ^^; (and if anyone gets that, TJ should XD)
Ha! Oh jeez... I need to get a Tarantulas and repaint it now X'D Not sure I'll make the unicorn horn headband for him though (or as The Rock called them, llama penises) XD
I've only done it twice (I think). It looks like they went with the lower half of a pair of scissor chelicerae oddly enough. Spiders have jackknife chelicerae (yes, they're actually called that). Solifugae (camels spiders and such) are the arachnids with scissor chelicerae. On that note, is there a single spider transformer that actually has pedipalps? They remembered them on the show models (sometimes). I think TFA Black Arachnia may have.
did you know TJ that this deco is actually inspired by the cartoon . In the episode where Megatron Receives his Transmetal 2 form soon after he roasts Tarantulas with his fire breath and this is basically what he looked like after that
incase someone else hasn't said so already I'll point it out for you. when turning him into beast mode. you have to spin the legs around at the kneel so the curve of the heal is pointed up making them look more like fangs. that's how mine came packaged.
I've been working on a set of TF's as the Horsemen of Unicron. I have Armada Rhinox as War, BW 10th Megatron as Conquest, and Armada Skywarp as Death. I want to use this mold for the 4th but have a problem. Should I use this version as Famine or the original as Pestilence?
I'm guessing it won't happen, but I'm kinda hoping for a Transmetal Week at some point. The Transmetal series is my absolute favorite series of the Beast Wars line.
Man...I really wish the original I managed to find still had its front wheel. Or had it at all. I need something to replace it with... Him and Rattrap (though he's easier)
He was the Predacon mad scientist, wasn't he? Those creepy legs coming from his robot mode back reminds me of Kaon (the torture chair decepticon). Seems pretty fitting to me, being able to pin his prey down while he hacks at them with his pizza cutter of doom >=D
Dude really? A lot of those 'vehicle modes' are useful! Like Cheetor getting thrusters too small to push him forward enough, Rattrap getting wheels to drive fast despite Rats being generally fast, and Optimus getting.... uh.............
You know they repurposed (why does my spell check insist this is spelled wrong, that's exactly how it's spelled on TFWiki) this toy as SG Tarantulas so this is actually a heroic Predacon.
TBH, while it wouldn't have looked good with Mainframe's style of CG, this color scheme fits the disgustingly creepy sicko that Tarantulas is way better. You can just HEAR the awesomely vile pipes of Alec Willows coming from this thing/
When I fully dove into TF collecting back in '07, '08, this guy was one of the first I sought out. Long story short: as a kid, I couldn't afford most ACTUAL TF toys so my Autobots and Decpticons were bootlegs and other transforming toys, and the leader of my 'cons was an "Insector" from the Convertors line named Tenticus who was, waitforit...a black, silver, and grey tarantula robot. So, yeah, this guy stands in my collection as an homage to the guy who led my childhood Decepticon team of knockoffs for years. I'd like to find a figure I can repurpose as my Autobot commander, Ironcar, but he was a bootleg of a Blue Gale from an anime called "Xabungle," a mech that has had exactly TWO official toys, if you can call a $200 Soul of Chogokin model a "toy."

"'But collectors *love* chrome!' Sure we do, Hasbro..."
that line had me falling out of my chair laughing.

Slenderantulas confirmed, especially with the spider legs forward-facing.
But isn't this our unicron herald trantulas though D:
+Jetfire48 Can't he be both? :D

Awesome review!!! This is my favorite Transmetal figure of all time. I have the standard release but I definitely plan on hunting this one down.
I've only done it twice (I think).

Jack Ball wasn't tarantulus already dead when megatron got his t2 form?

I love Chrome AND Die-cast, regardless of what others think. :)

TJ, great review, but you still need to review Transmetal Waspinator.
I can't believe how recent this is at the time.
I'm guessing it won't happen, but I'm kinda hoping for a Transmetal Week at some point. The Transmetal series is my absolute favorite series of the Beast Wars line.
(Muffet's theme plays) now we only need some spider doughnuts and a hot cup of spiders and muffet and Terantulas will have a great time
If I recall correctly this version of tarantulas was used in a comic.
Man...I really wish the original I managed to find still had its front wheel. Or had it at all. I need something to replace it with...
Him and Rattrap (though he's easier)
keep up the videos! btw when will u get back into kamen rider stuff?
there is also a comics exclusive similar paint job as a zombie
I just love this mold overall. :D
i remember that toy.
Never had a problem with repaints.
( flashbacks to early plastic addict. )
I had this guy when I was a kid, but it was a different color I believe. I remember that wheel and legs.
can u please review transmetal Rinox? i just reallywant to see a good review of it
Tarantulas, Tarantulas, everybody loves Tarantulas
He was the Predacon mad scientist, wasn't he? Those creepy legs coming from his robot mode back reminds me of Kaon (the torture chair decepticon). Seems pretty fitting to me, being able to pin his prey down while he hacks at them with his pizza cutter of doom >=D
Shattered Glass Tarantulas...loyal to Megatron or traitorous ex-secret police? Given the personality flip in the Shattered Glass universe...
I kinda like this color scheme a lot better for Tarantulas than the default. Maybe because I can't see the color pallet without thinking of Sideways.
Dude really? A lot of those 'vehicle modes' are useful! Like Cheetor getting thrusters too small to push him forward enough, Rattrap getting wheels to drive fast despite Rats being generally fast, and Optimus getting.... uh.............
How come there aren't any Third party beast wars figures?
Actually TJ if you position them just right they can look like Wings which also adds level of creepiness. :D
Aren't his feet supposed to face the other way in beast mode? So the toes curl downwards instead? I thought that's how it was in the show.
You know they repurposed (why does my spell check insist this is spelled wrong, that's exactly how it's spelled on TFWiki) this toy as SG Tarantulas so this is actually a heroic Predacon.
It looks a little like Anti-Venom.
+vine1313 I *KNOW* you said "Anti-Venom", however, I misread it and thought you were talking about "AntVenom".
Wait a minute.
Black... grey... green... has a bike mode...
*_This is Tarantulas cosplaying as the repainted Cy-Kill._*
Ah so that's why the netflix thing feels familiar
TBH, while it wouldn't have looked good with Mainframe's style of CG, this color scheme fits the disgustingly creepy sicko that Tarantulas is way better. You can just HEAR the awesomely vile pipes of Alec Willows coming from this thing/
anyone else wish they had made a tarantulas for transformers animated?
I have a fox kids Dinobot
Isn't that what Tarantulas looked like in the Universe 1 comic series?
Yeah.
+Arthus850 And Shattered Glass, too!
Tarantulas can't be far from anyone's mind given that he's the big bad in Sin's of the Wreckers. Not a spoiler since its really obvious
It looks lithe one of those spiders from the spider riders tv show
pizza cutter
I own a fox kids Dinobot figure
If vangelus was a transformer...
Forget chrome hasbro chrome sucks
+Ivan Savić (ivanprime93)
But I like chrome :C
+Coboxite *sends you all the Hasbro Chrome* :3
