Hail Mary Baseball Bat Choke from Bottom

  • This Fit to Fight Republic®️ video features me showing one of my favorite Hail Mary techniques, the baseball bat choke from the bottom. This deceptive choke is a powerful tool when you realize your guard is inevitably passed. It works in conjunction with your framing defense preceding it, and sometimes even people who see it coming will still get caught too far in to defend it. I hope you like it.

    Thanks for breakdown. I blacked out from this today while in top position.

    After watching this video, I put 1 guy out in a tourney and another one out in training. You gotta be careful, specially during training. This choke is soooooo tight, that sometimes your opponent doesn’t even get a chance to react. Maybe 3 or 4 seconds, then he starts going out. VERY EFFECTIVE

    Dude, I just nailed this choke. I was in the oh shit position but then thought...”last chance is the baseball bat choke that Knights JiuJitsu showed me”. I set my grips up, lowered my guard leg to bait him to pass to side control which he did and then I rolled and got the tap.
    Thank you for this move...will definitely be keeping this in my bag of tricks!!!!!

      Very fast & it’s such a throw away technique that guys mostly don’t respect it, can be a very effective choke but it can also go very wrong for the person attempting it lol 🤣 imagine the coke slipping after you’ve given up your back

      He is definitely the master of it. And true, it has been hugely helpful for me, too, so it’s kind of a stretch to even call it a Hail Mary anymore

    Whenever I see this taught, the attacker is always so ready to tap because they know how fast it sinks in. One video I saw was careful to show you how to release quickly when they tap so you don't actually put them to sleep.

    Beautiful - I have not tried this in transition from the guard pass but I’ve gotten it from bottom of side control - more often it turns into a sweep though.

      its amazing when you get it. we practiced this last week and yesterday during rolling i noticed "hey, this guy has his lappel hanging here" so i fed it to my hand behind his head and then let him pass my guard and got the choke, he was very suprised and it felt great to actually have a plan and execute it haha

    I got this choke, tightened it down, and the guy framed off my face with his forearm. I held it until the buzzer went off but I couldn't finish him. Anyone have advice on what I may have done wrong? I could see his face turning bright red but he didn't go out.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  Рік тому +1

      The biggest thing is keeping your head so close that they can’t make the frame in time. Eventually they can work their frame inside, but the choke is fast so hopefully they will have to tap or go to sleep before the frame can do it’s job.

    Ok, I've seen a few of these baseball bat chokes...problem is that no one wears that thick of a collar. So my question is; does this work with regular shirt collars? Idk, just seems like a lot of this kind of stuff is not going to happen in real time or real life.

    I don’t see the choke how does the person get choked is it by the two arteries on the side?

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  3 роки тому

      The grips inside the collar constrict the material and the wrists around the neck, blocking the carotid arteries.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  3 роки тому +1

      Not really, because deep half would separate the arms of the person on bottom applying the choke

  • @markzachenberg2797
    @markzachenberg2797 4 роки тому

    Awful setup. You will get armbarred all day by high level blackbelts with arms streched out like that getting your grips. I make this mistake from time to time and they always catch me. Your elbows should never leave your ribs unless your knees are coming in.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  4 роки тому +1

      Watch Magid Hage and so many others pull this exact choke in competition agianst high level black belts like Clark Gracie and Zack Maxwell. It works.

    • @markzachenberg2797
      @markzachenberg2797 4 роки тому

      @@KnightJiuJitsu Yes it's a legit choke, one of my staple attacks from side control. When I teach this [edit: from side control], I emphasize never reach for the collars, let the collars come to you. If you reach, like at 1:55, you're exposing your arm. Once your arm is extended, the armbar is there - the choke is gone and you're going to tap.
