Blogging Theology, Excellent Topic. Thank you for this gift. Wondering if you could arrange a sequel to this on the topic of "The History of the Quranic Text" based on the authoritative book with the same title by Prof. Mustafa Al-Azami? That would help lot of people.
To the rest, I highly recommend this authoritative book "The History of the Quranic Text" by Prof. Mustafa Al-Azami.

This is better. I wish people read more qiraat in salah. It's really fun to hear but yeah, sometimes people get a little touchy with it since they're not always familiar with what it is.

Thanks so much for this interesting topic.
The aspects of the Qur’an in Seven ahruf can be viewed as one of the miraculous aspects that made the Qur’an the only dynamic book in the world until today, as what is known in human literature is that the author formulates his book so that his ideas carry one meaning, and thus they are static books. As for the Qur’an It was memorized in this dynamic way from the time of the Prophet, from which the Prophet Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him told his companions that the Qur’an bears facets (He meant 7 Ahruf).
What is meant by a dynamic book is that it copes with the changes of life. For example, you may find a word in the singular form in one reading and it is replaced by another word in the plural form in another reading, and both of them are correct and complete each other.
As Muslims, we believe that all these Ahruf were revealed by God to the Prophet through Gabriel, and this is what the Prophet himself announced, and we believe in him because we believe that he brought other matters greater than that, and this is the important thing about this topic, even his enemies of Quraish didn't even dare to speak or doubt about this unusual book, and Allah SWT through the Qur'an challenged them to give even small chapter like it.
    ____________
On the other hand, the real problem is the Bible. Why?
Because the early or the recent Christians (didn't) do not have the slightest idea about its origin, and they have no proof that Moses or Jesus had announced it as it is now, they don't even have a connected chain of narrators until now about their sacred book.
Really, I advice the honest Christians to think rationality not emotionally of what they believe, because the truth comes by thinking and asking rational questions, as the truth not necessarily inherited from the ancestors.
May Allah guide them to the straight path.
    Thanks

About to sit down and listen to this with an open mind. I saw Dr. Ali's presentation which was a valiant effort, but simplistic and with just as many issues as every other attempt at this. And yes, I know this topic extremely well. I maintain that the Prophet did not teach nor recite the Qur'an in multiple ways, but just one. It wasn't revealed in 7 ahruf, the Hadith is preposterous and rejected for numerous reasons. It was invented as a justification for the proliferation of qira'at which is a current and early historical fact that was the result of early Muslim negligence. But hey ... maybe I will be convinced otherwise here ...

Salaam. No it isn't, but I was happy to see him cone to similar conclusions. I too came to the (surprising for me at the time) conclusion that Hafs is the closest (though not entirely correct) of the qira'at to the Prophet's, but in a way that's very different from Dr Shehzad which I don't follow ... what makes him think the qira'a 'aama is that of Hafs? I have my own post and threads on Twitter on the issue. A follower sent them to Dr Shehzad who then forwarded his contact to me so we could speak, but I never got back to him. I wanted to be completely familiar with his views first, to read his book or watch all of his series first. But I never got round to that either. Maybe I will reach out to him anyway.

@@QuranicIslam Apologies for my assumptions. However flippantly suggesting the hadith is preposterous and the early community, ie. the Sahabah and Tabi'een were negligent without providing evidence for either? These are enormous and serious claims, which even if you have a basis for are hardly the stuff of UA-cam comments. Write a book if you feel yourself qualified and face others at a scholarly level. 🔴 *Pious Copyists* 🔴
*-David A. deSilva. **_An Introduction to the New Testament: Contexts, Methods & Ministry Formation._** InterVarsity Press, pp: 402-403:*
The Gospels, like all ancient books, were reproduced manually. For every church that wanted to have access to the Gospel of Luke, there was a copyist at work (whether a skilled believer or a professional copyist) reproducing a manuscript word by word. Copyists were not afraid to “improve” the text if they encountered a problem, whether a grammatical mistake, a stylistic infelicity or a concept or reference requiring a brief explanation. We often find, not surprisingly, scribal attempts at harmonization-assimilating one Evangelist’s version of a saying to the version familiar to the scribe. This is nowhere more obvious than in the attempts by many scribes to bring Luke’s version of the Lord’s Prayer in line with Matthew’s version, the form the prayer was known and said in the churches (also preserved in the Didache, a late-first-century or early-second-century church manual). Resistance to difference and internal contradiction runs deep. A copyist familiar with the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Jewish Scriptures, might also tend to “correct” quotations of Scripture as he copied a Gospel to make the quotation conform to the Old Testament more closely or attempt to make better sense out of the text.

@@Zak-gl4ig I have Saleem’s book, it is an impressive collection of narrations and a good resource to have. But his argument and conclusion are extremely weak and easy to dismantle. The problem with his thesis is that he starts off by presupposing Ghamidi’s claim that Hafs is the original reading, which is completely irrational and ahistorical based on the historical evidence we have. There is no manuscript or historical evidence anywhere that the Hafs reading was adopted by any community prior to the Ottoman Empire. Saleem’s supports his argument by redefining the term qirā’ah ʿāmmah, in order to fit his argument, which he does so incorrectly. There are counter examples of readings being referred to as qirā’ah ʿāmmah that do not fall under the Hafs reading.

The fact of the matter is the Hadith of the Seven Ahruf is a pure fabrication invented to explain away the numerous reading variations that Muslim encountered in the second century of Islam. This Hadith is the single most important factor the has distorted the Qur’an. Had it not been for this Hadith, we would had a single Qur’an that was revealed to the Prophet SAW. Any attempt at explaining this enigmatic Hadith is simply a waste of time. When they say, O Hisham read. What did he exactly read? Why was the narrator so cryptic? Why didn’t he tell what each of them recited to put our finger on the type of differences? It is all fabrication.

Quran compilations and the Caliphs - part2
As I indicated in part1 the history of the compilation and collection of the Quran is anything but simple. Naively most think it is fairly straight froward, just as the standard narrative states. But the standard narrative is WRONG! And who has shown this? *Works of our own scholars of the past have shown that the standard narrative is wanting. As the topic has been debated and forms an integral part of our history we should familiarize ourselves with it. This debate was copious and well-recorded but as it was conducted in turgid Fus-ha Arabic, few venture to go into it. But there are exceptions, and one such exception is a believing Muslim who has spent nearly two decades on this topic. He is Dr. Shahzad Saleem, a Hanafi Sunni Muslim from Pakistan. He has written a comprehensive book on the topic and produced several videos to educate us about this important topic. It started as a graduate project in which he received his PhD* .
