- Chased a pair of F units on the Ontario Southland Railway Tillsonburg Turn. The weather was cold with winds gusting to 60 kph pushing the windchill in the teens. Wind, snow , ice pellets and even some sunny periods. Weird weather for April 2. Chased from Salford to Tillsonburg and back. Also caught up with a long OSR Woodstock job in Woodstock. Thanks for looking.
Awesome video!!!!
Thanks
Wow, that’s strong winds‼️‼️
Yes, trying to take photos and keep the tripod from blowing over was a real challenge.
How often does the Tillsonburg turn run per week? Will the Cayuga abandonment effect this?
Usually Tues and Friday but that will increase now that Future Transfer is moving to the North Yard.
Great video! Is this part of the ex CN Cayuga sub? Who are the customers on the line?
No this is the Port Burwell sub. Future Transfer and a pipe company on the north end and Johnson Controls, a lumber yard and Future Transfer on the south end but are serviced from the Cayuga sub as the bridge in the middle is out of service. They will now be serviced from the north end as Future Transfer is moving everything to their north plant. The lumber yard and Johnson Controls will have to truck product to their locations from a trasnload facility at the north yard.
railpast Thanks for the information.
Wellmaster has always transloaded, along with the lumber yard at the north end. Townsend Lumber another lumber/wood company was a very recent customer, and may continue to transload at the north end but I don't see why they would. It's been less than 6 cars in a few months I think. They're a lumber producer not consumer.
How’s the Guelph Junction Railway doing
Do they ever get much from Johnson Controls in Tillsonburg?
Very seldom and they can use the trans-load facility in the north yard
I heard about the abandonment. What section of track is being abandoned/disused? And do you know the reason?
Cayuga Sub St Thomas to Courtland, not enough business to justify keeping it open.
There was additional business, just wasn't pursued.
was he just putting tanks away into storage, no way he'd be going Johnson controls.
Yes dropping some off for storage and bringing some back from stoarge.
This whole situation has not been a good look on OSR. Plus when you factor in the loss of the Guelph Junction Railway, they really seem to be hurting. And now they won't be able to grow their business much anymore because transloading is much more expensive to the customer than having a siding, AND OSR doesn't have any more room to expand transloading in the north end.
