I don't have a 3D printer. So here's my please. Please, Doc! Sell a kit of one of each. If you do, I'll be one of the first to purchase. Love ya, Doc. 🤘
I LOVE THIS BLASTER! Very compact, inexpensive, and has all the mod potential. I slapped my old MK2 barrel in my Pilot and the break action never gets old! Slaps with the AR left in because it has large plunger volume but to still have a comfy grip at the same time. Did I mention the great iron sights and the beautiful ringing sound that's made after you fire??
I actually remixed his short dart shell to use 17/32 brass. I also made a longer one that fits ~5" of brass, which is about the ideal barrel length for the Pilot's plunger tube.
Just got a 3 in 1 shell that clams it can hit 140 with a single short dart. Also got a mega shell as well. Thinking about changing the spring at some point to get even more power out of it.
Very Glad you did a review on this blaster and all the current printable shells and inline barrels on thingiverse. It’s been a lot of fun switching ammo types with the one I purchased earlier this week and I agree that this one’s going to be a lot of fun for the community. One question/comment I have about the review; What was the distance you were shooting at the targets with all the various types of ammo? It was hard to see in the video what the distance was (maybe I missed you mentioning it?). I feel like knowing the distance of the target from where you are standing would give us more of a good sense on how effective the “mods” are.
I'd love to see the safety double as a way to open the barrel. Looking at the internals, you might be able to print a new safety switch but add a post to it for a spring (next to the screw mount). Then put the other spring post behind the trigger, on the mech that holds the barrel closed. That way when you push the safety forward to lock the trigger, the spring will pull the arm down just enough to let it open... The new spring would have to be stronger than the one at the bottom of the handle (the one keeping the barrel closed).
There’s a mod on thingiverse that gives you manual operation of the breech and deletes the auto open on prime. An absolute MUST for the inline clip stuff.
The Rival Pilot with these 3D shells makes the Breaking Wind by CYardNerf obsolete. Around ($75 + or -) less you have an injection molded blaster that does the same thing. Like you mentioned, @0:15 I agree with you saying that it is the best offering will see form Nerf for 2023.
I just got the Pilot and I can't love it more than I do. It shoots very hard and straight right out of the box. I really wish they made the same hop up on the Pilot for the Helios and Pathfinder. The previous Rival blasters would work so much better with the hop up tab the Pilot has. Anyways, 10/10 blaster would bang
We definitely want to get are hands on the Pilot, the Knockout was awesome and had loads of mod options. With the Pilot its even better and as shell fed nerf addicts then this is right up our street, right out of the box, just add shells! When we do get one then we'll also make are own shells, which will include a couple of spigot launcher shells for MegaXL and demolisher rockets 😃
I need to buy a 3D printer at some point so I can start dabbling in things like this. Only problem is, last time I tried using one, I couldn't even configure it to print right...
If you cut away a little plastic, you can make this open further. I did it to make it easier to load shells, which I found is not necessary, but it does make it so 50 cal shells fly out when you open it.
I’m sorry no here’s why you can’t mod it it already has pro performance also it has no barrel attachment like the original Stryfe the pilot can take tons of different ammunition shells without modifying the blaster itself. I would say it’s better. The different types of ammunition it can shoot with shells is literally unmatched.
@@Zyantium well yes as a primary but the sheer amount of ammunition the pilot can fire and the price it’s self puts it above the Stryfe X nothing can beat the pilot’s mod-ability stock and you know that but that’s why I think it’s 2023s best
I have a double break-barreled sawed-off shotgun from a Chinese brand off Amazon that uses shells. I have a barrel tubes (from Worker and other brands) that I use on blasters like Nexus/Aeon/Conqueror to fling Mega XL darts better than my Boomdozer as well as for actual cosmetics like suppressors or flashhinders. Yes, the shells for my particular shotgun blaster work with this so I don't need to buy any of the specialty blaster shells. I did try using a barrel tube to fire a Mega XL dart using the Pilot, sadly it moved a little, but did not fully release itself from the end of the tube. Could just be that I didn't have a good enough seal on the outer sides of the barrel. Shoving an old school whistler in a shell and launching it from the Pilot was pretty satisfying :)
I've never found it compelling to load more than 1 Rival round in a chamber to achieve a decent single shot shotgun. But I get it. Some Nerfers like having that option available but I just don't care I guess. Some UA-camrs are obsessed with overloading barrels and some are not. Great video man. I'm a new foam flinger who has gravitated heavily towards Rival but I don't care for the hopper fed blasters. I enjoy blasters like this that are properly single shot or magazine fed systems
I will say it again, Thank you for another long format video. It is my preferred way to get content. Great video and great information. Between the Pilot and Fate Rival pistols have really become extremely versatile. I really like being able to have an in-line clip and a mega ready to go with a $10 pistol and few printed shells and I’m ready to go. Bravo Hasbro for making a great product.
Ive noticed with rival that you have to have really good trigger control when firing to maintain accuracy. I guess its because of the relatively low speeds so any amount of yanking on the trigger when firing will cause you to pull your shots. In other words you have to be steady when firing. Imo
This is a great launch from Nerf. We can always count on Rivals. With the Pilot, for a cheap price you get multiple blasters. Is there any Ultra shells? Thanks for the video!
He didn't cover it but you can also shotgun load to rival balls into the thing because the plunger is powerful enough to shoot both out at a drop of about 20 feet per second so about 79 FPS.
Im going to have a load out of rival pistols so basically I've got a knockout with a inline clip and I'm going to get a pilot to make it a single shot long range weapon im going to upgrade the spring and convert it to short darts
Can you just put a releaseable clip tab on the side of the barrel so that after you install your loaded inline barrel the breach won’t open until you undo that clip tab?
Can you front load with the shell inside? Also what is the range of a 3 round 50 cal foam ball blast? I plan to make this blaster my permanent 3 round shotgun as an emergency blaster.
I'm generally not into single-shots and grip-priming, but seeing this as a break-action blaster and the mod potential is making me consider... Now to see if anyone could try and turn this into a shotgun or a revolver...
I was just thinking how would a tripple barreled version off this pistol be like. Not a long barrel break action. Just a break action pistol with 3 barrels.
Here are the following different types of ammunition that the pilot could use most likely with mods Nerf N strike elite darts Nerf mega darts Short head darts Nerf ultra darts Nerf, mega XL missile darts Nerf, 90s foam arrows, possibly Nerf demolisher missiles 4.50 calibre foam balls That is at least eight different types of ammunitions that it could possibly use with mods By the way, is not to mention you can do that, without even internally modifying the pilot

Bit of a nitpick but the shells should be modified to just be sleeves, so you can just slide another dart into the chamber without loading a shell
