I love how Closer to Fine was always the hit off this album, but this is the song that got me. Those harmonies, came outta nowhere... how their voices complement each other with their different qualities.
Please bear with me - I'm not a feminist, but I know what I'm seeing and hearing - and if Emily and Amy were a couple of guys, this would have received far more than 12,415 views.
❤ used this song when i had to have euthanasia for my extremely sick beloved 16 year old chihuahua, Nugget, last may. Done so humanly at the San Francisco SPCA that this song played as his traveling across the rainbow Bridge was completed. Have always loved indigo girls ever since an appearance of theirs on David Letterman's Late Show. They kinda put good old Dave in his place, so to speak. Worth a peek at on utube.
They sing and play as if they were siblings joined by DNA. Fortunately, our sweet yellow lab, Daisy, had the chance to hop on stage with them at a small private concert in a grassy coastal setting of the Bay Area in 2007 before she left us due to cancer this year. Cheers, Daisy - you had a great night on stage with the truly awesome Amy and Emily.
Timeless music ... listening to this song some decades later then listening to their current material and what do get ....PRICELESS MUSIC.......thank you again Indigo Girls
tears seaming down my face...threathening to go into a full on flood. very rocky times right now, and hearing this, sobeloved song, reminds me of my lost youth and happier times. and they've been there;through it all. love you guys:)
I saw these gems in Laumeier sculpture park in St. Louis once. One of the best shows I ever saw. These 2 are INCREDIBLE writers. ABSOLUTELY at their PEAK here. wow. just WOW.
i think i used to own this on vhs. indigo girls"live at the uptown lodge" google it and but it before it gone. its outstanding for being in a small bar
I, too, have requested this to be the song at my memorial someday. . . I wrote a college essay about my grandfather's death using this song many, many years ago. I cry good tears almost every time. I love the IG.
What an awesome God given gift! My favorite folk duo of all time! Brilliant song writing skills, guitar playing and vocals. I often think of Amy and Emily when I write harmony and try my best to do the song 1/2 the justice that they do. Thanks for sharing!
i have been following the indigo girls for almost 14 yrs now and by the far the most amazing vocals and words ive ever heard! id kill to see if someone would put up you left it up to me???
That is a REALLY good song. I don't really understand the Indigo Girls :(. But I like them tremendously. Let's all secure ourselves to Heaven today! I mean, unless you are doing something more important of course.
My father owned a bar in Atlanta, and he told me how he used to give them a pay check to play there. It must have been before they got big. I like them a lot, both my parents played their songs while I grew up.
@MaitreyAgape The Indigo Girls were one of my Mom´s favorite groups (mine too), and when she passed away a few years ago, we included some of their songs in her memorial service/visitation. It was a such a nice tribute.
Got all their work. Seen then a couple of times in concert, (They're remarkable live), and will say their music helped me a great deal while working through some bad juju during the Eighties.
meredithscott76 and others: Bon Jovi was just a reference I made at random. It was a reference to something that would have been popular on UA-cam, vis a vis the Indigo Girls. It wasn't about Bon Jovi in particular; it could have been any popular male 80s band. I merely chose Bon Jovi as an example.
m7lists: I said "please bear with me" - and you didn't. It wasn't a feminist statement. I just notice a huge contrast in the number of views of this versus, say, Bon Jovi "Wanted: Dead or Alive". It's all about marketing and images, and what America views as "sexy".
Naturegirl, if you want to be depressed about view counts even more, check out the meter for a song called "J'en ai marre" by a young French singer named Alizee...one version has over 10.5 million hits. I don't think it's based on musical talent.
Intelligence. I think "intelligence" is the word you seek NatureGirl62. IMHO,Indigo girls sing from the very heart and soul of human miscalculations. Tho I love some Bon Jovi stuff, it's their...cocks..singing.Or swinging I guess I should say. It's what the younger, then younger kids, will buy. Slick packaged adolescent sexuality. Something the bands can pull past their parents and censors. Just thank god it's not "Swingtogo Girls".
Also the devil knows as much as Jesus and does not fear him but I fear Jesus don't want to put words in his mouth or blame him for unseen things I stand firm I will not budge I don't care who the devil uses he's a list

I took care of my Mom in her last years and played this at the end of her funeral......I love you Mom and Dad!
God DAMN. Those harmonies! Gives me chills. EVERY TIME. Every time.
Jesus this is good even 30 years later.❤
I saw this video in 1989, had never heard of the Indigo Girls. I was hooked. 120 concerts later...
Love!
Well You have me beat by 110.
Absolutely amazing...35 years later and just as good as the first time I heard it
Please bear with me - I'm not a feminist, but I know what I'm seeing and hearing - and if Emily and Amy were a couple of guys, this would have received far more than 12,415 views.
The best band ever. Period.
Thank you for the voice of Amy Ray.
Almost English

Me and my Mom too :) She passed away 11 years ago, but that's such a great memory. Thanks for reminding me
Please, that was my first favorite of theirs. I heard the debut album growing up
This duo is incredible and I appreciate their artistry and committment to quality music.
Everything they produce is gold!
Keep it up Amy and Emily!

This is my fav!
This song is all kinds of powerful and fills me with memories of years ago when someone was in my life who isn't now. I'll always love this song.
My father owned a bar in Atlanta, and he told me how he used to give them a pay check to play there. It must have been before they got big. I like them a lot, both my parents played their songs while I grew up.
Bam, back in Austin. Thx4posting! Love these women!! 🎶 The harmonics...the voices...the guitars...drop the mic. ✌💞🌎
Actually looking for the first album, one of the all time best albums. Makes me cry : ) But in a good way!
Best performance of this song!!!!❤

Amy wrote this song about one of her cats that went to the Rainbow Bridge 💗

"It's just a ride"-Bill Hicks

Radio Free Tuscaloosa '90. I drove up to my dorm (PALMER) and the fucking INDIGO GIRLS are playing next to stock tank.
I was there!

I get a little emotional when I hear this song because it was inspired by the death of a cat. It makes me think of the cats I've lost over the years.
@777TIFFANYFEM777 Awww :).

Does anybody know where this was recorded?
It is at the Uptown Lounge in Athens Georgia.
@drmel37 try pirates.bay.
