After studying intensively the Japanese late medieval period and early industrial periods, this theme captures the essence of Japan more then anything else I’ve listened to.
So I am currently playing as Japan in one of my games......I have not heard this song once....Found Australia and it’s been Waltzing Matilda on repeat for the last few hours 😑😑😑
My first play through was with Hojo, when I heard the medieval theme for the first time o thought I was losing, it reminds me of the song of Gameboy wars 3 when you are losing with red star.
While Civ unique ability is Meiji Restoration, the leader (Hojo Tokimune) came from Kamakura. Leader of Meiji era should be Itou Hirobumi (and he doesn't wear traditional dress, he might have even wore Chinese style shirts of the late Qing ones too!) One thing English narrator does wrong with him is that narrator doesn't speak his name correctly (since everyone must have his/her name written in Latin script, including him to be written in Romaji), Tokimune must be pronounced 'to-ki-mu-ne' as per kana expression.
the narrator is sean bean(boromir, ned stark), and this applies to every word foreign to english, sucks, i know but it happens to every civ. meiji restoration is the civ ability, should japan get another leader the restoration trait is maintained and the leader trait changes.
@@slightlybored Yup. Hojo Tokimune's leader ability is indeed based on the era in which he reigned. Y'know, the "Divine Wind" ability, which historically drove off Mongol invasion twice.
@@mohamadfaizzudin6869 actually no. There are trade connections with the Ryukyu Kingdom and China for a long time, and the Dutch and Portuguese from the West Indies have been known to trade with Japan. The Warring States period wouldn't even be so brutal if the warlords don't engage in foreign trade since Japan does not have a steady supply of good quality saltpeter. Japan only fully closes itself under Tokugawa after the battle of Sekigahara, although the Dutch still have a small foothold on Dejima before Commodore Perry broke the isolation.

Not exactly. Not just the Japanesse theme sounds like music from Mass Effect or Deus Ex. All of the Atomic Era soundtracks of every civ sound pretty much exactly the same. Now I’m just wondering. Why him? Why pick him as the leader of Japan. If they wanted to pick someone who wasn’t Nobunaga or Isyeau, they could have just gone with Emperor Meiji. Would have fitted better tbh.
Kaiju Slayer333 maybe time show off historical japan and the feudal period. And Meiji wouldn’t be really that “Japanese” and overly western, I would guess
King Cazitan That is a pretty bad excuse. Especially given the reference to the reformation in Civ 6. So if they wanted to go against overly western things, they probably would have skipped anything relating to the Meiji Restoration

If Civilization themes were Accurate:
Ancient Age: Historic Feudal Japan theme
Modern Age: Anime Upbeat J-rock
I mean, they chose a ww2 inspired theme for industrial, and a ghost in the shell thingie for atomic, so I'm pretty ok with that
