I’m a school based speech language pathologist and once I’ve greeted my students for their session I ask each student 2 questions: 1) Why are you here? ( I want them to understand and be able to answer that question to anyone who may ask; answer will include something about their specific SLP therapy long term goal. 2) Why is working on ( goal/objectives) important to you? I make the link for them if they can’t between their current curriculum and their future goals. It’s incredible to realize students have not been taught to find the big picture of “Why?” in their learning environment. I also experience a wonderful paradigm shift in students when we break down all WH-questions and they get to take ownership of Learning to Learning by using the strategies I teach because they know why it’s relevant that they do. Great job on this video! Excellent information that I hope catches on! I’m going to incorporate video clips as you mentioned from now on.

Love that you have them connect it to their future goals and objectives. Much more empowering for them than to be told why it's important.
