Lived in Detroit all my life. I’m 72 and live in Ohio now. We used to go to Frankenmuth at least 2x’s a year on our birthdays to eat at Zhenders. We belong to their birthday club. Bronners was a yearly event for us. We lived about 45 minutes from Frankenmuth. I miss it but we still make the drive every year.
Omg ! I love Bronner's. My favorite place to visit. I can spend all day there . This place is huge with lots of really nice stuff to buy. We haven't visited in over 3 years . Did you guys go to downtown Frankenmuth? It's down the road from the Christmas store . It's absolutely beautiful , lots of shops and yummy foods . Bronner's lights at night are absolutely beautiful. This place is well worth the drive . So happy to see this video. Thank you so much ! 😊
Dan here. Lived in Michigan all my life and going to Bronners each and every time is a joy. You should come up to Frankenmuth and stay at one of the hotels in town. Famous for its chicken dinners and German food and history! Alot of choices to choose from! The ice festival is great!
Before I even watch this I just want to say..... I grew up in Michigan and went here with my family a lot. I already know this is gonna be a great trip down memory lane.
Thanks for the info! I thought I read that on a plaque outside of the Chapel as we drove past it but I couldn't read the entire thing. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video and that it was a nice trip down memory lane for you!
Thanks for visiting Bronner's. I live about 45-50 minutes away, so I come here often. I think pre-pandemic I was coming here about once a month. The experience was always breath taking each time I visited. A few things I wanted to mention. First and regretfully, Wally Bronner did pass away not too many years back. His family is still running the store though. Second, I have a memory (and a pic someplace) of a full size Santa flying around with a Martian in a flying saucer. Third, that little white building at the south end of Bronner's is the Silent Night Memorial Chapel. It is a replica of the chapel in (I believe) Austria where "Silent Night" was performed for the first time.
Thank you for sharing your story and the info. I had that feeling Mr. Bronner passed away. I'm glad his family still runs his store. That would have been really neat to see Santa and the Martian! When driving by the Chapel I noticed a plaque that mentioned Silent Night on it but I couldn't read the whole thing as I was driving. Really neat to know!
If you ever choose to visit again, try going in the off season. :) It is absolutely packed in there from November until Christmas, but any other time it’s fairly empty and you can walk around comfortably without the crowds.
This place is beautiful and amazing. Which is bigger and better, this place or the Kraynaks store. They are both so awesome. Thanks for the nice festive Christmas video. Well done and I appreciate your time doing this. Thanks.
Hi Wallie and Kayla, Welcome to Michigan! Since, I live in Detroit, Michigan. The, last time that, I was in Frankenmuth was in the late 1970's, early 1980's. I had been to Frankenmuth in the middle of summer. The last date, was July 25th.,1984. July 25th. is Christmas 🎄Day in the middle of summer.
Awesome 😎😎 Really gets ya in the Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 Spirit Wallie & Kayla now y'all reminded me to get Egg Nog tomorrow at the Weis Markets Grocery store hehe Week 3 of Advent is a special Rose Sunday (pink candle) symbol of our coming Joy, Purple candles represent Penance, I am Cajun Catholic 🎄😎👍
As someone who lives close enough to go anytime of year .. if you don’t like all the people go In the middle of summer. Also zhenders has a good meal. Also if you sign up for the birthday thing at zhenders you will get a free meal the month of your birthday as well as a free ornament from bronners.
Definitely a huge store!! A lot bigger than our small little year round Christmas Store in Leavenworth, WA that has all the villages & the leg lamp Holiday lights!
This place is home to a traumatizing moment of my childhood. in the early 90s when I was about 6 years old my family went here in our old 1970 Newell motorhome (it was basically a tin can). We were coming out of the store in a lightning storm, and my parents wanted us to walk back across the parking lot in the lightning back to the motorhome. I wanted to stay in the building rather than go out into the lightning and into the tin can. I was so scared.
Hi Wally & Kayla: Thank you so much for this amazing video. What a place. I thoroughly enjoyed it. So nice to see you & Kayla again. Merry Christmas to you & your family.
Thanks for making this video the Christmas store is a must see while visiting Michigan .Did you happen to visit Greenfield village in Dearborn while on your trip ?They host an event all December called holiday nights , it's another must see .Merry Christmas
We didn't have enough time to do so on this run. I really wanted to too. But it is on our bucket list to see when we come back. If we can't this season, we plan on it next holiday season.
I would have loved to but this place was so packed I was already having doubts that I would be able to finish filming this one. I had to wait a lot to do certain shots and the large crown made me a bit anxious. But it was still a lot of fun. Just so many people!
The buildings are kind of nondescript and boring. If I drove past this place I would never turn into it. It looks like an old mall with some decorations outside. They need to do a better job on the outside. I Also found it hilarious how they have all these religious sayings on the wall and signage yet they are willing to make a ton of money off of their so-called religious views of Christmas.

All I can say is "Holy Cow!" I would have to have a motorized cart, too big to walk for this granny. Thank you Wallie and Kayla for the tour.

Merry Christmas to Waille and Kayla🎄🎀
Merry Christmas, Linda!!!
I would hate to have to see , or pay the electric bill for for any month. The film that was just shown can't measure the size of the building.
Before I even watch this I just want to say..... I grew up in Michigan and went here with my family a lot. I already know this is gonna be a great trip down memory lane.
Yup! it was!! fun fact that small chapel you passed by multiple times is a replica of the chapel where Silent Night was written.
Thanks for the info! I thought I read that on a plaque outside of the Chapel as we drove past it but I couldn't read the entire thing. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video and that it was a nice trip down memory lane for you!
