Hello from the United Kingdom. Had to service the keys on my Tyros 5 and found your video very useful. Thank you for taking the time to make this excellent tutorial.
Hi Mate. Many thanks for the video. i was working on a Tyros 2 recently with a dead key. all i had to do was clean the ribbon and contact points on the PCB. one mistake i made (obviously i hadn't seen the video then) was to put in most of the ribbons upside down. not following the arrows which caused difference in volumes for most part of the keyboard. your video pointed this out and i sat once again to checking and correcting this. thanks a lot to you for your video. your video made me realize my mistake and correct the error. i now have a working tyros 2 with no dead keys whatsoever. Once again thanks a lot. cheers.
You probably dont give a shit but does anyone know of a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.
@Andre Clay I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@@craigdufresne8108 I'll check those. I know I commented on this a long time ago but it's taken me that long to get the parts (I'm in the UK and no UK suppliers had it in stock). Had to order from USA and it took weeks to get through customs lol. But I'm well stocked on solder, flux and cleaning solution for dealing with corroded solder joints :)
Hey, did it end up being solder joints? I have four notes that are registering max velocity too quickly even after cleaning the board with alcohol and the rubber contacts with water. Just trying to avoid replacing both contact boards
17:09 Funny... you see the metal springs and the bare electronic contacts of the pcb just under them without any protection. So... if anything goes wrong, like the spring would get loose or break off then it would fall down on the pcb causing shorts over there... So, I would not have expected this in a machine that costs thousands of dollars...
Hi Dave... It's highly unlikely that the contact ribbons are your problem.. you would have to have the same contacts bad on all 3 ribbons as for the circuit boards for the keys (2 of them) could have to have the same circuits bad, see Debbie Turners last comment below... changing the circuit boards worked for her.Good luck and give me a shout if you find something or I can help in some way, Craig
Do you have any idea if the carbon contact in the pcb was eraced? I mean a liquid was spilled and after I wiped it, it naturally came off. Is there any option to fix it?
hey there, 3 of my keys are kinda dead, it works when i press hardly on them, ive them open now, looking at the carbon, but i donno how to clean them, shall i use a steel wool ? slightly
Hello. I loved this video, you made it very easy to follow i tried fixing the dead keys on my Tyros 3 and replaced the little pad strips under the keys. After turning the keyboard back on, the keys worked for 1 run up the scale but then reverted back to before. ( all the C and F# keys dont work... except the ones at the top octave) After trying again, making sure I cleaned it well, those C and F keys still dont work. Do you have another video that could help me solve that problem? 0
Hi Debbie, I'm not a yamaha tec :~) but my wife has 2 a Genos and Tyros 4 and we couldn't find a repair shop any place around, so I got a service manual and tackled it my self and I've been lucky so far.... I've replaced the key circuit boards as well as some other components to keep the wife's tyros 4 up and performing... Now for your problem.. do you have (2) Cs and (2)F#s that work on the high octave end of your keyboard? and (4) Cs and (3) F#s on the low end that don't work? if so the MK61L circuit board may be bad or some corroded solder points The next thing you could check is when you installed the contact strips (Did you replace all of them)make sure the little triangle indicator is toward you. let me know how you make out and we'll see what we can do :~) Craig
Wow. Thanks for the reply. I have (3)Cs and (1) F# at the top that dont work. That leaves (4) Cs and (4) F#s that dont. I replaced all the strips with new ones and definitely have the little arrow facing the right way.
@@debbieturner2907 Did you mean the Cs and F# on top do work? it sounds to me like it could be corrosion on some contacts, i'll see if I have a picture of it from the circuit board I replaced, it's hard to see but will cause a big problem.
Hello Craig. Just letting you know that I did manage to purchase new circuit boards for my Tyros 3. I installed them today, and my keyboard works perfectly. Thank you for your help.
Hi! Craig, I have a question to ask you, do you know how I can repair the style control (main variation button), the D button broke and went down not push up but it still function. Do you know what part number and where to order? Thanks.
Hello Craig: Where can you get the contacts you changed from the keyboard? I would like to have them if later I have a problem with a Tyros3 key. Thank you very much for your help and your videos that are very good. I congratulate you, a hug Carlos Hackl. PS: I do not speak English. sorry.
So, my lowest C#, D and Eb went dead. I called Yamaha. They said it was the contact ribbon. They said I needed the 13 note one and a 12 note one. Don't know why as non of the others keys were bad. Anyway, I follow your video, which was very helpful, by the way. The old contact strip looked ok to me, but I installed the new one anyway. Guess what? The notes still don't work. Now what? I suppose I have to call them again. Don't know if the built in tests would detect or correct the problem or not. I have a good tech but am trying to do this on my own if I can for money reasons. Any ideas?
Hello, Craig. Thanks for your great video. I have MOXF6 , 61 keys synth, and need to replace some keys. Are the keys different from the standpoint of assembly or disassembly? When I contacted Yamaha 24x7 they said that the keys come in a stack of 4, so I am wondering may be key bed and assembly is different from Tyros.
Hi; Here is a link to a pic of the assy. and a list of key configuration they are changed in blocks. I don't know the procedure but will see if I can get you some info syntaur.com/K48W.html
Thank you so much for your info and links. This helped a lot. The keys are in a stack, and not individually to replace. So I just need to unscrew the edge and replace the stack with new key stack.I have seen videos in this combination. Thanks again
Hi Onyi Tony.... I'm not sure I understand what you mean by collapsed, if the keys are just down without any spring action the little spring tabs may some how become unhooked in that case you would have to do the procedure I showed in video. Switching keys wont change your situation unless the collapsed keys are physically damaged. This may not be much help but let me know when you open up the KB and let me know what you find and we'll see what we can come up with. Craig
Hi. Friend buy spare gum for a korg. I was sent the one of 13 and I needed the one of 12. I can simply cut it carefully and place it in the card of 12? Thank you
Hey I have a question I have one my harmer not responding to the touch response so I took out key rubber and clean it and assemble it and the non of the key working again please help me out
Joey, the key response is controled by a felt strip mounted under the keys(red colored on the tyros 4)this strip is self adheasivewith double stick tape. check the ribbon connection on right end of felt strip. as for none of the keys working after you cleaned the rubber strip.... make sure you placed the strip facing the right way( little triangle on strip should be pointing toward the edge of keyboard) and check to make sure no connections came undone. let me know how you make out
