What memories this brings back; as it rarely gets a TV airing. Around 1976; my freshman gym teacher showed this to the boys class. We all sat on the floor in an old equipment room.Class ended after the 1st 1/2. Unfortunately; we were supposed to watch the other 1/2 during next class & that never happened FSR.It’s a great; old school film.
🏀WOW!🏀 I never knew about this movie, it was a great one, I always loved watching the Globetrotters on Wide world of sports in the late 70's when I was a kid, but i never forgot them, hopefully one day I can see the Globetrotters play.🏀💕✌💕🏀
Saw a documentary on the HG and they said when they played in Germany in the early 50s after the end of World War 2..they were nervous how the crowd would react..the whole stadium gave them a standing oviation..it was the most emotional experience they had ever experienced..I got goosebumps hearing the story
I saw this movie on TV as a child and loved it! Got to see them (not these players, but their current generation) as a young adult. *Goose Tatum* was my favorite player. The scene that has stayed with me all these years was at 17:50 when the reporter was talking to Goose and comparing hands!❣🏀
Bevor came the phantastic Film Blues Brothers , in the year in ,1978 ....in Gold music, roots die eher. Peace Freedom and Gladness die the whole World. Sincerly Roger Helbling from switzerland Schweiz 🇨🇭 änd....habe a Gold Tine und happy new year. 30.12.2023 ❤
Saw Goose Tatum play my Dads team in the 60's.Harlem RD Kings vrs Conoco oilers. They only had 4 players show up so they had to recruit a player from the Oilers. Goose looked ill. It was sad actually. Goose didn't live much longer after that. He was very nice at the game but past his prime as a player
When I saw the Globetrotters in the 70s Marcus Haynes was still on the team! He didn't play the whole game but they let him display his dribbling talents. He was the best dribbler ever!
In the 1950's most people still had radio's in the home. The biggest market to see anything was in the movie theatre's. So it's funny how they made it back than to be a movie instead of a live performance as its portrayed in the 60's and 70's on out.
I grew up in the 80s, and I saw the Globetrotters a couple of times. It was all about the bufoonery: guys like Lou Dunbar talking to the audience and a lot of fights between the ref and the Globetrotters' funnyman. But this is something different: they were playing actual basketball, while doing all that circus stuff. That must have been amazing to watch.
This one is much better than the later, 1954 movie about the formation of of the team. Entitled "Go, Man, Go' its main interest is the use of Sidney Poitier in an early role and the many references to my home town, Kenosha, Wi, where Abe Saperstein meets and marries his future wife after seeing her in a beauty contest. There's a brief but welcome cameo by musician Slim Gaillard, but the court action takes a distant 2nd to the overacting of Dane Clark. It's this 1951 movie that stirred my interest in the Trotters for the rest of my life.
The Globetrotters beat the NBA Champion Lakers in an exhibition game in the late 40's at Chicago Stadium when Marques lobbed an ally upe toss into Sweetwater Clifton to dunk over George Mikan with a few seconds to go to beat the Lakers.
I love the Harlem Globetrotters. I emulate their moves in my spare time.

I loved the Globetrotters when I was a kid. They are coming to the arena I work for Sunday and I am so looking forward to seeing them.

Beautiful movie and so nice to watch without being scared there's gonna be violence or cursing or any off that
Dorothy Dandridge was just gorgeous.
This movie is worth it for no other reason than to see just how good Goose Tatum was.
The later games became a super entertaining show. But these early games were real games that they could win or lose.
I guess Im kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good website to watch new tv shows online ?
Good movie! The Legendary Dorothy Dangrise always beautiful!
DA'KNIGHT38 ...*Dandridge.

Bill “Rookie” Brown, who played Townshend, died of cancer in ‘71. He was only 46.
Caitlin Clark inspired me to return to the great ball handling mastery of the Harlem Globe Trotters.
Billy Townsend 😍
Dorothy Dandridge is exquisite 😻💗
She was Halle Berry before Halle Berry

Yo lets link and discuss that moment OG
Marcus dribbling sounds like a jazz drum solo.
Sooo Goood ! Thanx for sharing !
It's easy to see where Jordan got some of his wizardry moves and circus shots from.
Wow! This brings back memories
Marques said (15:39) GIVE ME YOUR ANKLES
(16:11) Oh no. Ohhhhhhhh nooooooo. He fell for it
Before my time but really entertaining!
Caramba! Um filme desse e não tem dublado?
"GO MAN, GO"
Please remake
15:01 he is the greatest driller ever

@@df5295 In my opinion Marques was the greatest point guard of his time, maybe ever!

Is a wonder they didn't do the water bucket play and the bucket is full of confetti
Great basket ball players ! I would like to get in touch with you about it. How could it be possible ? Thanks in advance
So 40's😀😀😀
What happened to Billy Townsend with the Trotters?

Incredible! Thank you.

Castellana

Obviously
Ick Globe Andi Trottels
call me racist but im so glad they beat the lakers !!!!! in the game
The Lakers lead the all-time series,6-2,winning the last 6 games.
The Harlem Globetrotters. Incredible basketball players, very poor actors.
bic papermate ...I suppose you can do better? This is 1951!!!
@@brucescott4261 They seem very-natural to me, rather-refreshing, I think.
They weren't actors and never tried to be. They were real people just better at basketball than anyone else like Michael Jordan.
Eles nao eram atores, eles eram os melhores jogadoes do Basquetebol
