    ADAM Audio was founded in March 1999 in Berlin. Since then the company has been developing, manufacturing and distributing loudspeakers in the field of Professional Audio.
    The development of the X-ART (eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter based on the 1960’s invention of the Air Motion Transformer by Oskar Heil was largely responsible for the company’s founding. Producing sound not with a piston-like diaphragm as is done in most of the loudspeakers that are on the market, but using a pleated diaphragm that is capable of moving the air 4 times faster than the folds themselves are moving was the appealing idea behind it all. The achieved results were intriguing and gave ample reason for moving forward.

      Great video and explanation! I want the Adam T7Vs but my room is small-medium size, I want them due to the higher frequency range specially to the low end. I'm worry to buy them because the port is in the back and they should be placed at max 10 -15 cms from the wall (I have acoustic foam in the back as well). Should I go for them or I really need the T5Vs? Thank you in advance!

      Hey @Adamaudio. I am looking at the T7V for my small setup. I am a composer and podcaster. My room is also where I sleep and may be moving soon to an apartment where I can sound treat the room a little better.
      My question is, what stands do you recommend for T7V for optimal accuracy? Do you recommend me bringing my desk out and placing the speakers behind the desk to get the best "triangle" sound that you explained? I was looking at isoacoustics and just placing them on the desk? My desk space is limited. 6 feet by two and a half feet. is it possible to make any space good with proper speaker placement and monitor choice?
      Thanks so much!

      Hi Nathan, it's hard to tell when we can't see your room and be there. Placing the speakers on a desk is usually a good idea if your setup allows it. We also recommend using Isoacoustics-stands for this. You could also have a look at our T5Vs or A5Xs/A3Xs if the space on your table is limited.

      @@ADAMAudioBerlin okay amazing thank you so much for your response. you guys are so customer friendly! I went with the iso acoustics and decided that I am going to build a desk in the style of monkwood studios since I am able and willing! I like the frequency response of the T7V and it fits the budget really well so that is my choice. You have helped me decide! Thanks so much!

    glad you keep the videos versatile and not just tied to your products, much appreciated!
    one thing I'd add regarding info in the video is, with bigger distance, "fidelity" in poorly treated room will suffer, but also with the distance, more dynamic range can be achieved at comfortable listening levels ;)

    How much of a difference do isolation pads make it the speakers are placed on a hard surface, like a desk ?

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin
      @ADAMAudioBerlin  3 роки тому

      Hi! They make a substantial difference, particularly in the low end. They have the potential to clear up a lot of low-end muddiness that may occur with the resonances of your desk. We'd suggest something like IsoAcoustics or another similar design, as simple foam isn't as effective. Hope this helps 👍

    I would love to know more about plate amps vs. longterm use - we can have all the amazing sound we want - but what happens outside of warranty. I completely understand it's a "touchy" subject - but I - and I'm sure others - have had amps fail and then were faced with complete replacement ( I had recently two pairs of M-Audio M3-6's and M3-8's - amp failure on both, and sadly - I maybe have only ran them at 15-35% volume the past 6 years...).
    When that happens - you start eyeing how some of those old school amp racks like carver/marantz and others are still going strong....meanwhile made in China plate amps = not so "sustainable" - again - a "touchy" topic that intersects with business decisions, economies of scale, supply chain, etc... but something "worthy" of review

    There is a little difficulty deciding between the A3X and A5X for nearfield monitors. Does it come down to the distance they will be from your ears? If one has a subwoofer either way, the bottom range doesn't seem to matter as much.

  • @behemothinferno
    @behemothinferno 3 роки тому +4

    I've love to hear an explanation of what makes a speaker suitable for near, mid or far field. Why shouldn't I use an S2V for far field monitoring or an S3H for nearfield for example?

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin
      @ADAMAudioBerlin  3 роки тому +3

      It is about sound addition between the transducers in a speaker and monitoring levels. Basically these different kinds of designs are optimized for different aspects:
      Near field monitors use smaller transducers and typically a two-way setup as they don’t have to play as loud as you are meant to listen at a relative short distance. At the same time, smaller speakers allow for shorter listening distances, because their transducer configuration results in a smaller sound source with a wider dispersion.
      For larger distances you need higher power output that nearfields and small speakers usually can’t provide, so you need larger speakers.
      Far field speakers are large and spread the transducers over a larger area. In order to have the contributions of all these transducers add up properly, there’s a rule of thumb for a listening distance to be at least 3x as large as the arrangement of the transducers.

    Hi I recently purchased some T5V's and was wondering the best place to put them, I've seen a lot of people say close to the wall and others away from the wall? is there a correct position? I only have a smallish room.
    Thanks

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin
      @ADAMAudioBerlin  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Stuart! Great question -- Because the T5V's are rear-ported, you will want to keep them at least a foot away from the wall at minimum to avoid any issues. For more information on this, check out another video on our channel, which covers proper monitor placement at length: ua-cam.com/video/E9dpjdSQsXg/v-deo.html

  • @bthellam

    I think what really stumps me is defining room size. When does a room go from being small to medium? My space is an "office" in our basement, 8.5' x 11' x 6.9' (if you can say that because it doesn't have four walls), so I'm not sure if that would be "small." I have a six foot producer's desk, the monitors are level with my head, and literally exactly one meter from my face. That seems to be the right distance for most nearfield monitors of all sizes. Is that wrong? Are A3X's supposed to be for a one meter distance, A5X's for two meters, and A7X's for three meters? This is what I'm trying to understand. I got HS7's for my starting monitors and I'm wondering if I might have gone too large.

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin
      @ADAMAudioBerlin  3 роки тому

      Hi Beau! With the larger near-field speakers, you don't have to listen from further away. However, you can listen louder without losing any of the fidelity. So it depends on how loud you want to listen to maintain the highest possible quality. If you add a sub, the question of how low the respective monitors go down is not relevant, that's correct. One option would be to order both pairs and test them in your room. You can then send the other pair back. Let us know if you have any other questions. All the best!

    • @bthellam
      @bthellam 3 роки тому

      @@ADAMAudioBerlin Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to be able to get both and send a pair back. I suppose to narrow it down, however, what would be the primary reason for one to choose the A3X over the A5X and vice versa? Also, when contemplating a subwoofer with either due to the size, is it recommended NOT to have one in an untreated 8.5'x10'x6.9' wood-finished room with carpet (would there be too many bass problems)? Thank you!

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin
      @ADAMAudioBerlin  3 роки тому

      Hi Beau! The A5X gives you less distortion at the same listening volume because the maximum SPL is higher. However, the A3X also offers a very good monitoring volume without distortion. How loud you need them depends a little on your listening habits and of course, your neighbors. At the same time, the A5X goes a little further down the frequency spectrum, so you can hear lower frequencies that are not fully represented in the A3X. Hence the question of whether you want to add a sub. That would make the second argument for the A5X less important. Bass is a problem in most untreated rooms, with or without a sub. Here it depends on what kind of music you make and whether bass frequencies are essential for it. If so, you could additionally check with a pair of headphones or consider treating the room acoustically in the long term. All the best, Daniel.

    • @bthellam
      @bthellam 3 роки тому

      @@ADAMAudioBerlin Thank you, Daniel! The room is part of our basement which the previous owners had refinished to be like a northern Minnesota cabin, or an old Texas saloon. It's all wood over the sheetrock if there's still sheetrock under there. My wife said absolutely no room treatment, so I'm stuck until the day we get a home where I get a room I can treat. It's sounding like I shouldn't get a sub in there. I've pretty much given up on the A3X since it was discontinued and none of the retailers on Adam's webpage sell them. Will the A3X be removed from the webpage, or will it show soon that it is no longer available?

    Adam Audio, I have nothing to do with music production or creation. I grew up with friends who owned recording studios, so I have a need to listen to music through studio monitors. I am a trader, I work on a Mac Studio, and I'm moving to another country, so I am looking for new monitors. My new workroom will likely be small since I have three children, and renting an apartment with many rooms is pricey. I don't need much power; I want fidelity. I was thinking about buying the Adam T5V. I just want to hear my FLAC music as pristine as possible without the added sound signature that normal speakers provide. What are your thoughts on this? Are the T5V monitors a good fit for me, or should I look for something else in your catalog?

    • @ADAMAudioBerlin

      Hi @iluvj00! Thanks for your comment!
      For smaller listening spaces we can recommend our more compact models from our T and A Series, being the T5V and the A4V. The T5V could be an excellent choice for you, if you're looking for a high sound quality and clear sound reproduction. The A4V features a few additional possibilities via it's on board DSP, allowing for complex room correction on the monitor itself which can elevate the listening experience even more.
      You can find more information about the two monitors on our website:

    My question is, can I use the T8V in a 3.2 m x 4.6 m room? Is this small, medium? I will be listening at them at about 1.5 m, using them for the TV. Volume will be just loud enough to sound like "real life volume" of people talking (what SPL is this?). Assuming these space, volume and distance conditions, which I think are appropiate for even a T5V, would the only difference between using the T5V or T7V or T8V be the low-frequency response? Or is there more to it? This was not cleared up to me by this video.
