- My First attempt of restoring a vintage item. I have learnt a lot and learning a lot doing these type of projects. This Original Max SIEVERT Antique blow torch was made in Stockholm, Sweden in sometime around the mid 1900s. I enjoyed restoring this gem and hope you guys enjoy watching the video. I have more Antique/Vintage restorations projects on the way.

good job, I’m trying to restore Sievert 222 Blow Lamp now and somehow its NRV broken. 😅
I have one from 1957 unfortunately the Rubber part that fits at the end of the pump for pressurizing has deteriorated. Do you know where I could find that rubber peace or substitute for it? It’s a little smaller diameter than an O-ring that would fit in Garden hose. It’s a strange shape almost like a skirt. Was able to get my torch working briefly. Briefly got working before it fell apart the rubber part that is. They built good pressure now I can’t put any pressure to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. Great job on the restoration. Love these old brass items.
I honestly couldn’t find that seal so I ended up using an o ring and it works.
@@BuildsBySahib thanks so much! Any idea what size O-ring fit yours? I’m pretty sure most of these parts like the pressure pumping mechanism are standardized. I think it was partially my own fault when I cleaned the torch that I used carburetor cleaner to clean out the ports because it was all carbon gunk. and used needle from a sewing kit to clean the main jet. Somehow I spilled a little bit of cleaner and it touched that rubber skirt thing. It literally dried out and crumbled. At first when I bought this thing from long-term storage, the rubber was pretty dry and a little bit cracked, but I used 100% silicone treadmill lubricant to restore it or rejuvenate the rubber, at least which got it working. I’ll look around for an O-ring, but if you know what size I should see for. The hardware store or someplace that sells them would have that would be excellent. Again, I appreciate your time responding.
What material would you use to replace the wicking if you intended to use it?
What were those torches used for I have one that was used at the ports of Oakland California.
