- New York Rangers will hopefully have some more moves to make this offseason but as of right now what lines could we possibly see to being the 2024-25 season? Rangers have a lot of different line combinations we could possibly see for this upcoming season but is it good enough to win a Stanley Cup that's the real question.

I dont know why ppl are knocking on Reilly Smith. Guy puts up 20 goals and 50 points a season. Plus hes been a middle 6 player his whole career. Have you seen his playoff numbers?
Because people think the answer to make this team better was free agency when there is not one player on the UFA list that is the answer to what we need. So they have to knock something when they have no clue what they are talking about
(A) people want a splashy UFA signing so it can turn into the next Trouba contract (B) people insist what the top line needs a goal scorer despite the fact Zibanejad, who presumably has some idea what he’s talking about, says what both he and Kreider need is a playmaker on the right side.
It's a good move. I just think people were expecting more and it's clear that Drury can not deliver.
Don’t think it’s necessarily Drury not being able to deliver. I’d be surprised if they didn’t pursue a true playmaker for the top line to add some scoring. Panarins line was arguably the best in hockey and without them we wouldn’t have gotten far. Adding smith to the 3RW would be very ideal come playoffs if you have 2 scoring lines. Smith can play with anyone and is a veteran playoff performer. Seems to me like Drury wants to mimic the panthers since we were that close
Still like Othmann on the first line & Smith on the third. I'd like to see Robertson as the 7th D & put him in now & then for Jones. The 4th line has so many possibilities & Berard could be a choice there. I've seen him compared in style to Marchand without the chippyness, & he could be a good option on the PK with his high motor & go-go style.
Berard is more NHL ready than Othmann. I'd let Otter marinate in Hartford for one more season. I also really liked Edstrom's game when he got a look this past season. On defense, they have to play Jones. He looked great while Trouba was out late in the season, should've gotten a chance in the playoffs. I feel his skating and puck moving ability would've outweighed his size disadvantage.

Gotta trade Kakko, especially if he’s gonna be on the third line, he does have upside and impact in the line up but nothing we can’t replace with prospects or other players, Kakko still has decent value at 23 and I think we could make a package for Trevor Zegras who I think could be a big difference maker for us and a franchise cornerstone along side Lafreniere, Othmann, Perreault, Berard, Sykora, Chytil, and Cuylle

I have decently high hopes for the team this year. I don’t think they’ll win presidents Trophy again and set team records but I see a decent run in them again this year. Haven’t made any huge moves this offseason but they’ve made decent moves.
I think Jones is underrated. He has good skill & IQ...definitely PP2 worthy. As for his D...let's be real, Fox isn't the most elite defender as well, yet he gets a pass.
I know we were expecting to make a splash during the free agency frenzy, but all things considered we have a lot of depth!
Bring up Zac Jones and put K’Andre Miller in on wing with Mika and Chris. He’s a skilled skater and stickhandler and played forward before he was put on defense. I think it’s worth a try.
Carrick's spot is by no means guaranteed. He's here to compete for a job out of camp. But if he gets out played, his contract can be easily buried. I think the 4th line right now is Cuylle/Edstrom/Rempe unless the others out compete them in camp and during preseason.
They gotta do whatever they gotta do to make it feel like we have more than one line
Id like to see if Drury goes for Dominik Kubalik. He could play 3LW.

@doug_nu_york4853 2 Conf Finals in 3 yrs is the limit for this roster, they need an upgrade and move on from Mika and Panarin, but I do not agree that they were scared. Excellent players but just not elite which is what we need
Hopefully Brett Berard and Brennan Oththman make the team and be effective players. I think it’s time to move on from Kakko. Kakko needs a change of scenery it’s not working out with him in NY. If Kakko underperforms this year he’ll have no value. I like your line pairings. This team will definitely make the playoffs. If Reilly Smith, Othmann and Berard don’t play good. The rangers will definitely be busy at the deadline. I think if the Rangers pulled the trigger on the Vatrano/Henrique trade for Kakko and draft picked they could’ve won it all. Kreider, Panarin and Zibanejad are great players. Big reason why they won President Trophy and made it to Easterm conference final. They were so close to beating Florida. You know Lafreniere is gonna be a star. Only 22 years old with 28 goals in reg season and 8 in the playoffs.
I was really hoping for a Patrick Kane reunion. Kane was playing hurt with Rangers he had unfinished business. After Kane signed I definitely would’ve been happy with Tarasenko too. Maybe they will be available at the deadline line if the redwings are out of it. Redwings are filled with former Rangers

This team didn't get a lot better but by no means did they get worse
i’m a rangers fan but 90% of the fanbase do not watch HOCKEY. They watch only the Rangers and say they’re a hockey fan. At this point it’s laughable.
we won the presidents last year, went to the eastern final and lost in 6. Florida and Carolina got FLEECED in a matter of days after the cup final. The best thing a gm can do is to keep those players together, it gains growth and leadership amongst the team plus nyr have some great players in the AHL and the Wolfpack also did well in their Calder Cup playoffs.

Miller is not horrible hahaha. You don’t know what you’re watching. Kid is 23 and can defend anyone in the league comfortably. He makes young guy mistakes but with time he will be a top defensemen in the league. 5 years from now everyone is gonna want him.
