Like I did on the human playlist, here are some of my strategy notes and notes on how to make it more of a challenge (The campaign is far too short IMO, in order to ever see any 3rd tier units in action you have to deliberately draw things out.) First, remember the AI never retreats. This can result in some pretty annoying situations on the coastlines as Martian if you make a base where Ironclads can enter the zone. The AI wins all stalemates like this,as the only way to end is to self destruct
I've figured this out quite recently myself. Generally, every sector in the game has some resource capacity. For instance, while playing as Marties, the sectors that produce the most human blood are the ones that are actually the most inhabited; I used to build about 20 human farms in my stronghold and they would provide much less blood than, like, one farm in more crowded locations on the south of Britain. Also, the more farms you produce, the less resource they start to supply you with.
Rick's Channel its pretty old, and some there is also PS3 game, based on the same Jeff Wayne WotW and sharing the same name, and its pretty much boring, so it maybe because of this RTS WotW left alone.
You have 3 different resources. Blood is for making new units, copper is for building new buildings and heavy elements are for upkeep of units. If you are short of any of them, your efficiency goes down and things take longer to manufacture.
Also, try doing what I call the Long Campaign. Work your way south as normal, then, the instant you take any sector adjacent to london, wipe out your entire force (all units) and all bases via self destructs except for the starter base in the highlands (Your forces are wiped out by bloodborne pathogens just like in the novel, except for a few who lived on the blood they took from mars...they find a cure, but you have to basically retake the entirety of England, with no pod drops to help.
I've recently tried making the AI efficient to the value of 99999, made them 25x more stronger, removed my pods by making their arrival value 99999, made the AI have a year in hours per turn compared to mine, made the buggers more aggressive and more likely to attack (no longer waiting for overwhelming odds)- needless to say the results are interesting. For one, you can actually STILL defeat the boosted Humans- the Martians are just that strong.
Constructing: It does not matter WHAT you build, as long as your handling/mechanism/lorry/whatever IS actually doing something. When your units are doing something, they consume more resources than when they are idle. Exactly the same relates to units; constructing either a Tempest or a Scout batallion highers your resource requirement input by THE SAME LEVEL, only the actual timing of building them matters in fact. It's a really clever system, as far as I reckon.
I've been playing this game but never understood the resources part fully. So there's a capacity of a resource and the more you construct or more units you have there, the more of that resource you use. So you just make more of the structures like the human farm to extend the resource limit?
The game uses Redbook audio. I don't remember if I had to have an audio cable from the CD drive or if Wine emulated one. If you can get your computer to play an audio CD, you should be able to get the music to work.
The Fighting-Machines start in a terrible location from a strategic viewpoint. That's probably to blame for nothing going right in these early skirmishes...
@bbmanmegyer I'm working on getting my screencasting software to work with my mic, but I can't figure it out. If all else fails, I'll record a wav and the same time I start the screencast then merge them. What's off with the color? If you mean the green, it's how the Martians see in the dark.
This game can be beaten in a matter of two to three hours. Max out your utilities in sector 1. Research until you have tempest and gen 3 fighting machines, and ignore coastal sectors as the Navy will massacre you at range.
To make the game more challenging, try using nonstandard units...for example, try sticking with scout machines backed up by bombarding machines, and not building any fighting or flying machines. Human defenses are superb at long range, so without swarms of flying machines to fly in and take out their command center, you will need to use creeping barrages to take out their long range guns before moving in (Hover bombs are critical in this)
@@Ao-de1nk Lol I haven't checked my notifications in a couple of days, what are the chances that I would be looking at this video again and see it without them? I assume I was talking about on win 98 then but now I have it running on win10 with the innm dll and the patched exe.
Thus, when you have a couple of facilities working at the same time in adjacent or the same sectors, you may encounter a resource warning. This is basically why is it the best to cautiousely construct units/buildings and DO NOT rush with that. The economical aspect of this game may really be depressing sometimes but that's how it is with strategy games. To simplify this, I personally just focus on capturing sectors that are "the darkest", they make vital tactical knots across the map.
By darkest do you mean the most resources or the least so that the martians don't care? I used to find the resource thing depressing for quite a while but eventually it just becomes a procedure that you don't need to think all that much about.
please do a commentary version of this explaining the game I cant make out the text so I dont know what or why you are doing anything Is this basically command and conquer but with Jeff wayne! wow thats amazing wish they would do a ps3/xbox version of this
Ah, I think I get the understanding. Thank you. I'll confess, every time I played, I did use the cheat so then resources don't effect me because I got tired of dying so quickly.
I'm just guessing the human player has some sort of hack for naval yards, because he can always make so much more ships than I possibly am capable of building while playing their side. Even quite early on in the game. Or maybe they have some large stock of them by the beginning. Crazy stuff, thankfully the AI in this game is not that powerful anyway.
The values be in the registry :P (use Regedit to start messing with 'em in Rage Software -> Jeff Wayne's WotW). In the Tweak section you'll be able to mess around with things, but the AI is still pretty dumb so you'll ideally want to stack everything in its favour. Also changing the delay in Briefing to 0 will remove the lag that is minimap loading from War Rooms/Elder Chambers.
There is an issue with the musicplayer in this software while using it on windows7... there are solutions available to solve this - you have to use a patched wow.exe that the game could run on windows7 and then you have to patch the exe again to got the music player running.
Oh i had this game, sadly the game was lost when moving. remember how if i build to many iron clads and moved them where there was no place for them all. Some would be lost.
Thats odd, mine installed just fine, and it dint even requared compatabilaty mode to run. Maybe there is some sort of GOG edition, or just slightly abjusted version to run properly.

Martians were greedy of the high tech and resources such as water / food / and the such. So they attacked earth. And they did inject themselves with infected human blood, thinking they could live longer. Oh they were stupidly wrong. The infected human blood wiped them off. Aliens do not have an immune system to human diseases such as Yellow fever, Malaria, Cancer, Flu, Scarlet Fever, and other $#!* humans had. Fair is fair. If you were an alien and trying to save yourself with human infected blood, you'd be walking yourself to a deep alien graveyard
