Unfortunately, these reamers are only recommend to widen a hole. The best way to drill holes is with a drill press. We have a drill press available on our site here: www.beadaholique.com/eurotool-compact-precision-bench-top-drill-press.html
Hi! Here is one style beadaholique.com/products/beadsmith-pearl-bead-holding-tweezers-with-indented-fiber-tips and you can find other styles here: beadaholique.com/search?type=product&q=tweezer. I hope this helps.
Being that the bit for drilling beads is tapered, doesn't this make the new hole wider at one side of the bead than at the other? Or do you do this at both ends, which you did not show ... ?
Pearls usually have small holes less then 1 mm in diameter. The bits for this reamer typically fill the pearl bead hole. However, if you are reaming a hole larger than the bit you would need to ream in a circular motions to ensure an even hole size.
I just got one & I push the 20 gauge rounding tip in the metal sleeve almost all the way down but then can barely insert it into the bead reamer hole because it’s too tight & I have to push with all my might and can only get a small part of the sleeve in. Yours seems to slip right in.
It sounds like the tip may be defective. If you purchased it from our site, please contact our customer service team at service@beadaholique.com. If your order is eligible, we may be able to send a replacement. Thank you.
I have the same issue-I bought mine several years ago. None of the tips really want to go in, and they do not fit in the collet. I wish I’d bought a manual set of wire rounders.
Thank you for doing this demo. I have thought about getting one, but the reviews seem to be mixed. Also, I hope you take this as constructive criticism: In a lot of your tutorials, you often fall into this higher pitched sing-song voice that makes me think of kingergarten teachers. But in this video, you don't slip into that voice very much at all. It might be helpful to figure out why that is so that you could avoid slipping into that high voice during tutorials. I love your videos. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this, and I will continue to watch regardless of your tone of voice. I just thought I'd point it out this once.
Hi! You definitely want it secure in there. Two trouble shooting tips is to make sure that the drill bit is pushed fully down into the little leather sleeve before you insert it into the main drill - so you want to actually see the base of the drill bit line up with the base of the leather sleeve. Then also make sure that the tip/leather components are pushed all the way down as far as they can go into the drill itself. If you have any additional details on what's happening, let me know and I will try to help.
Complete waste of money! It whirls around and the bead flys across the room! And now I try to remove the bead and the drill keeps coming out! Took 2 hours trying to read about 20 beads!! Got a 42 little drawers all flaming pearls! Why do they sell this rubbish that doesn't work properly! Strange how it always works when they show you, but a different matter when you buy it and try it! Disgusted! And Beadalon overprices everything! I shant buy anything else from them,!
This is called the Beadalon Bead Reamer, which implies that it works on all beads. I have just received mine today and have not used it yet. I will try it to enlarge gemstone holes today and let you know how it goes. If it is only for pearls it should be titled the Beadalon Pearl Reamer, or Beadalon is guilty of misadvertising. When I read the description on Amazon it said it could be used on pearls and other beads, so why don’t you know this? Anyway, I will try. Fingers crossed.
Does this work with gemstone with hole? I want to wide the hole.
Thank you for this very useful video. I read in the comments that this may shatter gemstones. Do you know which one can I use to drill gemstones?

Is the reason for dipping in in water because the head will break if you don’t? Looks as if it takes forever and I have way too many beads
Dipping in water helps prevent overheating and it also works as a lubricant.
i bought this and the tip keeps coming out of the drill when i use it
+pinkblackbrown That happens to me all the time, too. So if you apply more pressure, it gets bogged down and stops. Very frustrating.
+pinkblackbrown Hi, the only two things that I can think of are: is the tip pushed fully into the recess and then is there that little "sleeve" on it?
Same thing happens to me. So frustrating! I went back to my manual bead reamer.
Hi. Can I drill new hole in a crystal using this machine?!
We are not familiar with drilling crystals. They may shatter.
where can i purchase the bead tweezer/holder?

does this work with glass?
+kadyja brealey Sorry I wouldn't recommend this for glass beads.

What is the button at the bottom end of the tool for?
The nub on the bottom isn't a button, it's a plastic pin that's part of the construction of the case

Now, if only it came with tiny drill bits also, that would be perfect. I bought a push drill made for jewelry and I can't get it to work.
I agree, a good battery powered drill for jewelry making would be really nice. We'll be keeping our eye out to see if anyone is making one
is this the only tool for this

OP, did this work?
