Perfect fix! I would just add the words "won't hold idle on trigger release" to the video title, so more users will find you. Extremely helpful. Thank you for your service.

Your first video was great with a super explanation. I needed it to figure out how to route the fuel lines and you made it so clear.

Thank you sir I appreciate you for taking the time to make and upload your video. It was full of just what I needed, right when I needed it. I tip my hat to you from Southeast Kansas.
These things must be notorious for less than junk fuel lines. Someone threw the saw and all away in the roll-off dumpster where i work, since it looked brand new I fished them out. Fuel lines was both dry rotted, air filter had the slightest spot of oil residue I'm guessing from being ran for one tank of fuel before being tossed because there was maybe two tablespoons of woodchips spread around behind the plastic housing.
If I may I would like to add a helpful bit to explain a little more cleary about the primer bulb and two fuel lines for anyone that might need to replace them on any piece of equipment but feel intimidated by the job and too stubborn to pay someone to do the replacing, instead toss the power tool in the dumpster and buy another. It's a tad tedious pulling the new fuel lines thru the tank and out them tiny holes so you can connect them to the carburetor. Mainly because they recommend that you soak them in warm/hot water for a few so you can stretch the loops out from being confined in their tiny packages for who knows how long. I found that the tedious part can be taken out of the work if you put a couple drops of baby oil, hair clipper oil, any type of a white mineral oil on the tip of your fingers and lube the first couple inches of the fuel line before you put in the tank and start pulling them thru those holes.
Now when it comes to connecting the right line to the correct spot on your carburetor this next part has what you need. The inlet that connects closest to your primer bulb is your return line. The amount of return line left in the tank doesn't need to be more than half the face of a quarter in length or roughly the width of a reasonably sized pinky finger nail. Connected to the fuel lines your replacing one (should) have a filter attached and the other (should) have a little plastic stopper poking out the end of it. If you didn't buy a line replacement kit keep that stopper and push it into the end of your return line. That will keep you from pulling the all the new line out of the tiny hole in the top of your tank it also leaves the correct amount of line in the tank. If you did buy the replacement kit your stopper if probably going to look like a small spring and it's probably placed over the nipple of your new filter in the package. If you found what I'm describing go ahead and seperate them two items and place them on their own respective line.
The other attachment port on your carburetor farthest from the primer bulb port is your supply line it's going to be the line with the filter attached to it. The only way you can really leave to much of the supply line in the tank is when the excess line pushes the filter up off of the tank bottom making it kinda just hang around in the void of tank space. You can however have too little supply line inside the tank as well as have too much return line inside it.
Here's a quick way you can tell if you have one or the other or a combo of the two. As he was describing the issue of the primer bulb getting "stuck" pressed in was likely due to too much return line inside the tank. Think of the return line like a drinking straw and the supply line as a reservoir of liquid. When depressing the primer bulb your drawing liquid up from the reservoir until it fills the belly of the carburetor with liquid. Once the belly is full the straw starts spitting the excess liquid back into the reservoir but if you have to much straw down in the reservoir the bulb will get stuck because it can't drink and spit when the straw is down in the reservoir (vapor locked). That's why you only need a tiny amount in the tank so it can return all the excess back into the tank.
With the supply line you can tell it's to short when the motor starts stalling like it's fuel starved when the piece of equipment (tank) is at a certain pitch or angle then returns to normal running not at a pitch. The machine might also just stop running completely and you can't get the bulb primed when it can be seen visibly that there's plenty of fuel in the tank if the line is cut too short. Lastly and luckily not the worst when it comes down to finding out you're on the short end of the hose is when there's visibly 5-10 minutes runtime of fuel left in the tank and the engine starts complaining how it's being overworked all the time, it's thirsty, sputtering out how you never just leisurely hang out together outside of work work work, unless you cradle it in that sweet spot like a newborn baby, or. Just Stop. Take a break and refill that fuel tank before it danged'Ol'well needed refilling!

I want to start off with o have absolutely no experience in doing much other than using a screw driver. Just 4 minutes into your video helped me find the culprit, which was the fuel line was in pieces inside the tank and the filter just rolling around.
Maybe I could have figured that out myself, but I definitely wouldn't have done it in 4 minutes or had the confidence that I could possibly be right.
Thank you! (Yay! I finally one upped my hubby 😉)

I've had one of these for years. I have the weed/string line attachment for it as well. If you're going to use the weed wacker attachment, use a commercial grade head, and line, because this 25cc engine will shred anything made for home use (it took me a year, lots of line, and 3 string heads to figure that out - lol). *IF* the primer valve does not lift back into normal position after pressing it, this could also be the vent on the fuel cap is clogged. *AND* if you do not use this at least once a month, make sure to drain the gas mix completely, then push the primer and pull the cord a few times. I live in Florida, mine is used _a lot,_ and it's used year round, on my little farm. Every spring I change my primer, lines, and filter, because they are cheap enough to replace once a year, and cheaper than waiting until it's too late. You don't want to be out trimming limbs, and suddenly have an air leak break the vacuum in your fuel system. It will not run, and _that_ can ruin your day. Yes, I also learned that from experience - lol. BUT, dry lines and primer can also cause tiny rubber pieces to enter your carburetor, and then you're buying the primer, fuel line, filter, _and_ carburetor (or carb rebuild kit). Poulan was bought out by the Swedish company Husqvarna, and this is a great piece of equipment to have around. Mine has been tested in the worst of conditions, and looks like I need a new one, but it's still a mighty little machine. The housing is actually duct taped on, after a quick repair of the on/off switch during Hurricane Irma, and two screws disappeared - lol. Sorry for the long comment, I was actually looking for a video on a lawn mower, but I seen this and had to watch - lol. Nice video, I'll give it a thumbs up.

Does your pole saw leak bar and chain oil? I have the same one that leaks. I took it apart and reduced the amount that it leaks but its not 100%. It's about 85-90% sealed though. Maybe the black connector piece that is connected to the white bar and chain tank.

I have this same junk saw. Only paid $40 for it used. Needed a fuel primer bulb and a tune. Ran like a scalded dog. Now runs like crap. Tuning won’t help.. I use echo and shindaiwa equipment for my LAWNCARE and saw this on Facebook marketplace and figured I’d give it a try since you really don’t use these but once or twice a year. Shindaiwa and echo require 50:1 mix and I use that in the Poulan. Is that ok? I think it requires 40:1 which I think is more oil requirement. Hopefully I didn’t run it hot due to the different mix

So I know this isn't the best made video and I wish I had some time to go back and restate some things. I would give caution about bringing the high side too high. The proper way to do it is with a tachometer, but it isn't something I had and I feel it's safe to do without as long as you don't get too crazy with it. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.
    Thanks

In the video you state that you connect the primer fuel line (blue one) to the fuel filter but in the video it appears that the main line (black) is the one that is connected. I assume the main fuel line is the one connected.

  • @jeffreybugella7575
    @jeffreybugella7575 5 років тому

I know it's been forever, but is there a filter on the blue line also? Or does that just lay loose in the tank?
2 hrs later: Got it! Blue hose goes to a plastic fitting just inside the hole in the tank it goes thru. I did adjust the idle settings, only for me it was the red electrical connector that worked. Blue just too loose...no grip. Held free end with needle nose pliers, pushed and turned. With engine finally running now I could adjust properly.
Thank you much for your vid, Dude!! Look out weeds! Here I come!!

Mine worked right out of the box I just got it today but you can't pull on the throttle right away you have to lightly tap it over and over for about 5 times so the motor heats up then it runs like a top is that okay or should I mess around with my carburetor like you did sir ?

Spike Duval had you tried messing with the high side of the carb? I would adjust that until it doesn't bog down. Be aware that a dull chain or improper cutting can do it too though.
