- Pre-match presentation history of Carlton Football Club. A farewell AFL game was played at Princes Park on Saturday May 21, 2005. The game was contested between Carlton and Melbourne. It was the last of the suburban grounds in Melbourne to be used in the AFL.

Brings tears to my eyes watching this. I miss the old days of princes park. The atmosphere was amazing. Even though the MCG is incredible. It wasn't the same as that ground in Carlton North.
even though i support richmond i was sad to see the end of the old princess park the playing surface was second to none , we got some terrible hiding from carlton there over the years but the round 22 game in 97 made it all worth while.

I for one was sad to see big fev go, but i think we are moving in the right direction and we are going to un earth a new kid. Look at Geelong they have many scoring option no just one!! So lets go Blues 2010 team and lets see visy park as our home ground again!
Its still there. Carlton and the Melb Storm use it for training.

Worst mistake the CFC ever made. The minute the Ian Collins took over the top job at Etihad Stadium Optus Oval was doomed. He waited all of 5 minutes to close the place down. Of course it was for the good of Carlton not his own personal interests. Where is the sense in paying huge rents to Etihad Stadium when they could be playing at Optus Oval for Free. Not to mention that if they play at Optus Oval they make a fortune from Catering and ground naming rights. They currently receive not one cent of Catering money from Etihad Stadium and not one cent of the Millions the Stadium receive from Etihad for naming rights. Its Crazy.
