In Sankhya, Prakruti is infinite and eternal. In Vedanta, Maya, equivalent of Prakruti is illusory. How do we reconcile this contradiction?

Shankara thought if you are not permanent who can experience the next life happiness and suffering. That is why they force to accept Atman. That is their view. If you go to next life, it has to be you. They don't understand continuation well and when eat by your mouth, it considered you eat,. When walk by your feet, you walk. When your mind continue after death, it is your continuation, but Shankara think since your mind is not you mind continue to next life is doesn't consider as your rebirth.

Swami Sarvapriyanada - you are and always will be my living Guru. You are beyond your mind and body - even if you had non-veg a couple times because it was offered to you, that shows your humility and flexibility. That is a true egoless soul - which you are. I agree with you that vegetarianism is better than being non veg because it purifies your mind, body, & soul. On Veg/Non Veg issue I am quoting Swami Vivekananda from his book Practical Vivekananda. "When I eat meat I know it is wrong. Even if I am bound to eat it under certain circumstances, I know it is cruel. I must not drag my ideal down to the actual and apologise for my weak conduct in this way. The ideal is not to eat flesh, not to injure any being, for all animals are my brothers. If you can think of them as your brothers, you have made a little headway towards the brotherhood of all souls, not to speak of the brotherhood of man!" ❤❤❤ It's incredible , until recently a lot of meat eaters told me Vivekananda even advocated eating meat!!

For Swami Vivekananda's opinion on food for the stomach, I found detailed discussion in the book "Talks With Swami Vivekananda" in chapter XXVII.
He has discussed extensively about ahimsa, meat-eating, sattva, rajas and tamas in man etc.
In short, Swami Vivekanada was a strong proponent of mental and physical strength. Food is the primary source of physical strength and disease free body. Weak body talking of Sattva is nothing but deep Tamas. Once you attain physical strength, you are qualified for Sattva. Once you attain Sattva, you naturally detach from lust and wealth, want of pride and egoism.
For detailed enquiry into the topic, I let people to read the book.
For me, my queries are answered! 🙏

Here are a few verses from the Mahabharata that mention non-vegetarian food eaten by Vyasa and Krishna:
In the Adi Parva (Book of Beginning), Chapter 93, it is mentioned that Vyasa, while living in the forest, would eat deer meat and other forest animals:
"Thus passing his time, Vyasa of great wisdom, subsisted on herbs and fruits and roots, and occasionally on the flesh of animals of the forest, brought as tribute by the hunters."
In the Anushasana Parva (Book of Instructions), Chapter 88, Krishna advises Yudhishthira on the merits of various types of food, including meat:
"Meat, again, that is well-cooked and is not tough, is said to be highly beneficial. Indeed, meat is highly beneficial to persons of all ages. It stays longer in the stomach than other kinds of food, and affords high nourishment."
In the Shanti Parva (Book of Peace), Chapter 176, Krishna speaks to Yudhishthira about the importance of following dharma, even when it comes to food:
"Beef, O king, is highly beneficial to the Brahmanas and kine also are said to be sacred. Even this is the eternal dharma. The virtuous man who eats the flesh of animals, O king, incurs no sin thereby, since everything is dependent on fate."
It should be noted, however, that the Mahabharata also emphasizes the importance of ahimsa (non-violence) and vegetarianism in various places.

      @ryun_d3v Рік тому +2

Are you saying you need to be a meat eater to be strong? See Patrik Baboumian, Venus Williams, Djokovic... For strong vegetarian minds Albert Einstein, Magnus Carlsen.
"If God Himself says something illogical, one should not follow it. But if even a kid says something logical, one should follow that."
The opinions of a single person are not the ultimate Truth, take in account the opinion also of hundreds or even thousands of strong minded yogis and most importantly your own rationality

I read an article where Swami Vivekanada said to an american person who was processing beef that if you cant reverse the process of giving it life then you have no right to kill it. As swami said that vegetarianism is a higher ideal to follow but aren't monks considered the highest in our society who follow strict routines like Bhramacharya/freedom from taste/freedom from greed/and also vegetarianism. Of course I think none of these are strictly necessary to get Moksha like King Janak was a householder, and had children thus not a bhramacharya strictly speaking, but still was considered an enlightened person. So following vegetarianism is definitely a higher ideal and is a great support in having a better mind thus helping us on our path of enlightenment. And yes, food definitely has an effect on our mind. Have a look at drinking coffee, its a physical substance which greatly affects our mind. Thus please follow vegetarianism. 🙏 And I would hope that all monks, especially Hindu monks, were vegeterians. Non-vegeterian and monks don't go well with Hinduism, like non-bhramacharya and being a monk.

Swamiji, even if one is interested in enlightenment, the process is so difficult that one loses interest after sometime. Have you heard of the term "FLOW". People stay interested in things that are challenging for them but at the same time they are good enough at it to overcome the challenge. If something is way too easy or way too difficult, the human brain loses interest and is unable to attain a state of FLOW. And that exactly is the problem with enlightenment. The process is long and arduous. And we hardly ever achieve any milestones or bread crumbs to follow the path. It is a long long long journey with barely any incentives or rewards on the way but just a promise of eternal peace and bliss someday.

[Ram to Kausalya ] “I shall live in a solitary forest like a sage for fourteen years, leaving off all means of enjoyment and living with roots, fruits and honey”.
हित्वा मुनिवद् आमिषम् = I shall live like an ascetic leaving off all means of enjoyment. आमिषम् means “means of enjoyment.” When आमिषम् is used with the word मुनिवद् it means “objects of enjoyment”.
(आमिषम् also means material enjoyment, lust, craving)
There is no context to the word meat in this verse.
One needs to learn Sanskrit in depth to understand meanings and context before translating the verses of great epics like Ramayan.
Nowhere in any translation has Valmiki mentioned that lord Ram actually ate meat.
The exact words used are ‘hitva aamishham’. ‘aamisham’ refers to material enjoyment and ‘hitva’ refers to ‘disregarding’ or ‘with the exception of’.

Moreover many maharajs who initially eat non-vegetarian food gradually shift to vegetarian food with age. So, there is no one size fits all kind of scenario. And, whether this maharaj eats non-vegetarian food or not, this disclosure wouldn't mean much to Indians as we come across the teachings of many different Saints and after careful consideration, according to our own temperament we choose what's right and best for us. So, in short this maharaj's opinion is just one amongst many opinions. On the other hand if you are non-vegetarian and desperately need validation from this maharaj and want to feel good about your food choice then you are welcome but make sure not to listen to anyone else because if you do so, who knows your conviction about non-vegetarian food might be shaken.

Unfortunately, we only see the cruelty in consumption of livestock.
The physical, mental and verbal cruelty that we are continuously throwing towards the world, are enough to end our spiritual endeavours.
As far as the spirituality is concerned, all the herbivores would have been enlightened by now had vegetarianism been a criteria for that.

I am rajani patwari from Chicago
    My question is
How there is desire in Brahman to be many and I don’t want to be alone?

It is just a poetic way of Upanishad to give a cause for the creation as a preliminary understanding. Please refer to Mandukya Karika of Gaudapda on Mandukya Upanishad. Brahman is Karya Karana Vilakshanam meaning free from cause and effect. Your cause is your parents and your parents are effect of your grand parents. So every cause is an effect also. So If I say Brahman is a cause of the world what I am saying is Brahman is an effect. If you tell a child that God created the world, the child will invariably ask what created God. We go in an infinite regress of cause and effect. Brahman is not a cause nor an effect. There is in fact nothing other than Brahman. What about this world. The world is wrongly seen in place of Brahman due to ignorance. It is like a snake mistakenly seen on a rope. There is no snake. Rope alone is. The final conclusion in Advaita is not that there are 2, Brahman and the world as an appearance in Brahman. Appearance can be talked about only from the reference of Ignorance. Brahman alone is.
