    I can see you being perfectly calm as ten adopted kids tore around the house screaming and throwing stuff. In other words, the perfect personality to have parrots. I have never understood why anyone wants a baby human.

    Love this. :) I have decided that I want to get caiques myself. I have loved them for years but it wasn't until 2 days ago I actually met some. :) They were both fun and really mean (bit me alot), but despite that I miss them already.

    Thank you!! This was extremely useful! My boyfriend and I were considering getting one. I have experience with parrots, but wasn't quite sure how was caique's nature. I needed an honest opinion and yours is perfect! We are definitely going for it 😊

      Roger Mastrude oh I totally believe that. They aren't for the vast majority of people however and they need to know just how difficult they are. My favorite bird is the parrotlet. Nasty little buggers known for aggression issues. They mesh well with me though I wouldn't suggest them to most.

    Way to go. Well done colourful video. I love that you were cleaning poop out of your hair. It shows you are a true bird lover. This is also realistic to what new bird fans should expect. Love the info on the contrasting triggers. Keep making videos. You do a great job.
    I am still looking forward to my pair of Caiques. Any suggestions on 2WB or 2BH or one of each?

      Bilquis Wadoodi Thank you!! I was hoping to capture the reality of living with caiques and poop is an everyday event!
      Sorry! I forgot to reply to your question!! I find the BHC can overload quickly and have a more unpredictable personality. The WB seem to have an easier going temperament. All birds are of course an individual and this is my personal experience with my guys. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

    This really brings to light what parrot owners say:that you can research all you want,but you don't know what it's truley like till you actually live amongst these complex and difficult creatures! Lol-maybe I will just stick to watching parrot videos..

    These are wild animals. Adopting one is kind of like adopting a wolf cub or a baby chimp. But it can be a wonderful experience.

    I'm trying to decide whether a caique is for me, I've already decided on a greencheek, but as I work I want to get a friend so that it's not alone all day, I really like what I've seen and researched on the caique but I've never met one personally, my main concern really is volume as I've got mixed messages, I know how loud a greencheek can get and that's ok, but I have to give the neighbour some consideration before getting too much louder!

      The white cockatoo. Based mostly on behavior and not so much on size compared to other birds.

    April, I appreciate this video so much! I'm a single gal (40) with no kids and am researching before I adopt my first parrot. I think I will base my decision on the individual bird regardless of the species but this information has helped so much! I would love to know your opinion on the other bird species you have and which type would be good for a calm quiet apartment. I also work full time. I am looking at medium sized maybe an amazon, caique or lorikeet. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

    • @ParrotPlayhouseChannel
      @ParrotPlayhouseChannel  5 років тому +1

      That is a really tough question. Most birds scream in the morning and at night. It depends on how equipped you are handling parrot behavior. Every bird is an individual and will have different behaviours. I definitely would say NO to the lorekeet and maybe caique because they are full of energy! Lorekeets also have to have fresh nectar made throughout the day and need someone home to feed them every few hours. I would adopt a bird that is already sexually mature. You will have a better chance knowing what you are getting personality wise. I am obsessed with caiques!! Maybe if you had a ton of foraging toys and a mansion for a cage! I also love amazons! Lilacs and Mexican redheads are so much fun! Keep me update. 💚

    So I have a question:
    I have a little baby caique, about 9 months old. She is not so much of an entertainment machine. She never hops. She doesn't like to be on her back. And she is not the most playful thing. She isn't so much into toys, strangely enough. She is more of a shoulder potato. She loves to stay on my shoulder, hold conversations, and enjoys seeing new sites. She loves car rides. She is very, very sweet. She adores having her face and neck massaged. She also seems to try to not hurt me at all, only biting me when I take her away from something she deems fun (like when she tries to eat the remote, take the keys off of the keyboard, or when she wants to stay on me longer).
    Considering her personality, should I expect her to not be sweet once she hits adolescence?

    • @Songbird1977jk
      @Songbird1977jk 5 років тому +1

      I know April replied to this question above. She said they are known to turn aggressive and territorial when they hit sexual maturity but if handled correctly by redirecting it can be workable. I've learned a lot from Jamie on bird tricks here on youtube about point training to avoid unwanted behaviors. She uses treats and a clicker to redirect and it seems to work as long as the human in charge is consistent. With any animal in training it depends on the human. If you can accept that and he willing to do what the bird needs you will be fine. A!it of humans are too stubborn to change. Good luck!

    Hi there,. I have a white bellied from weaned... and I think needs a mate... cuz sometimes I have long day or days... at work... after seeing this., I am wondering if that is a good idea ???? I did have a parakeet net to him when he was a baby,... he's only 1.5 yrs now... and he seemed a bit more happy but defiantly territorial.. what do you think about a partner for my Caique?? does sex matter in this choice ??

    I have all this stuff for my quaker. I have literally been dying to get a caique but have been told after 5 years old they turn evil. Is this true?

    • @ParrotPlayhouseChannel
      @ParrotPlayhouseChannel  7 років тому +2

      loveskating4eva Many caiques become territorial and aggressive when they become sexually mature. This is a normal behavior but if equipped with the right tools. You can learn how to shape and redirect the behavior. All three of my caiques have days where they do not want to be touched and try to bite. When this happens I give them space and plenty of toys to keep them distracted.

      Nope, not if you can get them on your side. If not, then they can be devils. There ARE ways to tame them.
