As some one who suffers from psoriasis these comments are really starting to irritate me. So many people that know nothing are saying 'why doesn't she stop wearing weave?'or 'give her hair a break'. I know for a fact that whether someone with these conditions has weave or wears their natural hair out the effects of the condition remain the same unless they're being treated and in this video it's being treated incredibly well. It's so much harder to wear your own hair when you suffer from this, it's tiring having to do your hair every morning because you have to pick the flakes out. I'd be grateful to have someone like this in the UK.

I suffer from this I don't wear extensions or weave so this has nothing to do with how she wears her hair. I wanted to know if she has it any place else I have it on my face I haven't found anything that works . On my face or scalp I love the way you take your time with her. Are you in New York?

Psoriasis doesn't care what color you are. Im a middle-aged white woman who's had this problem all my life. I don't keep my hair down very often. I keep it long so I can pull it back so no one can see the eruptions and patches on my scalp. To those who question her having a weave.... I'm sure it's much easier having a weave then to pick her skin out of her hair and hope no one notices. It's embarrassing. I personally can't find a stylist that I trust enough to cut and style my hair. I know the condition is normal but I still feel horrible about myself whenever it's noticed. Bless you for being such a kind person and taking such amazing care of your clients. I wish there were more people like you!

I love how you’re treating your client.. you’re not putting on rubber gloves or saying “euww” or treating her like she has a contagious disease or like she’s dirty... you’re treating her with respect and helping her with her problem. You are a good person with a good heart. I was going to say try Tea tree oil... it helps and gets rid of bacteria and a lot of this bacteria that causes this. It’s helped me A LOT.

Psoriasis is a autoimmune disease. To my knowledge not bacteria is involved (I have plaque psoriasis on my scalp. As for anyone with psoriasis, stress increases the symptoms, BTW psoriasis started when I was 10 yo after a physical agression) I know teatree oil is antiseptic so if you have any info about this probable bacteria I would be interested to know more. Plus do you mean teatree essential oil? Because essential oil have alcoolh and alcoolh burns and hurts on red (inflammated) psoriastic skin.

      @patriciaandallthegrayareas4573 6 років тому +4

@@rawangabr3630 well you have to treat defendant hair type accordingly. You would use the same products you use on straight thin hair and thick and curly. These are not directly connected with race but can be at time. While my mother and I are the same race she has thick curly hair while I have very straight hair we don't use the same hair products but even then she still would use the same as some with an afro which has more curl than hers. I would say my moms is mostly just frizz so that's how she treats it

I would like to thank you for educating me today!! I've seen videos before that had women with "crusty" hair in them and thought it was pretty gross..... "Why don't they just wash that crud out of their hair??".... Thanks to these two videos you did, I now know what it is and it's not just a simple thing to just wash your hair and be done with it. I honestly did not know what a process it is for black ladies to get their hair done like this. I don't know if I would have enough patience to spend that much time getting my hair done! Kudos to all the ladies who choose to get a weave!!
I'm not sure what the correct way to say this is... with the way the country has been divided the past several years I don't want anyone to think I'm disrespecting them.... but I've often wanted to ask black ladies about their hair and how they take care of it. At my job I work mostly with men, and the women are predominantly white (trucking industry in Ohio), so the opportunity just isn't there. And I'm sure I'd get some "looks" if I were to go up to a random woman out shopping and ask her how she takes care of her hair and if I could touch it!!
You are a very knowledgeable and caring cosmetologist. It's easy to see that you have your clients best interests in mind. The one comment shocked me - the woman pretty much yelled at you for giving your client another weave right away. But had she listened to what you were saying in your video, you explained she was in the public eye - this was only going to be temporary and she was planning on getting her hair cut short when she had this weave removed. You and your client were comfortable with that - so what's the problem?? smh... Ignore the haters and keep enjoying your work!!

As a guy who has seboheric dermatitis and used to have longer hair that was very thick but with loose curls that got tighter in the back of my head, a scalp dcleaning shower took about 30 extra minutes of scalp conditioning. It became a major waste of time and summer here gets up to 105. I decided to do the big chop and left with a 9 inch long braid. My symptoms are no different if not worse, but I can use treatments more quickly. I want to thank you for dispelling myths about dermatitis and being so professional with the services you perform. I wanted to share my story because like I said, my hair was very long and a cut did not change anything except the amount of time it takes me to personally treat my dermatitis. I did it because as a guy I can wear a short cut or a long cut at my job. To ask a woman to literally wear her hair less than 3.5 inches is very traumatic for many who have grown up with long hair. Comments about nasty and this and that, if you had a microscope most of you would not believe how much dead hair and skin we all cart around. Anyway your work is amazing and deserves commendation, especially your remarks about how removing flakes dry causes more trauma because a karyolytic (dermatitis softener which can be many things, from conditioners to the RX spray you showed) ensures only the skin that is ready to go leaves.

Good God! I have heard that black women have to spend a lot of time and $$$ on their hair, but I had NO IDEA that it could be this extreme. I am no expert so I’m not judging. But I have enormous empathy for any woman who has to go through all of that to look good enough in the public eye. Critics are harsh. Especially on women, and even worse to black women. I’m just an anybody and I have and can just shave my head if I want to. Your care and thoughtfulness is present in the care of your client. I appreciate the candidness of your comment, I am happy to bring some random insight to you today. Real quick I want to share this with you. We (speaking for all of us) don’t “have” to spend a lot of money or time on our hair at all it is a choice. I have 1 hour services as well as extension services. The only service that may exceed 3.5 hours is a hair coloring service. Only because I don’t do fashion braids or individual istick like extensions. There is a stylist for every budget, you just have to find the best.. and then be prepared to grow with him/her when they recognize their worth.
Some people in my area say I am expensive but my clients 9 times out of 10 don’t think twice about it because my services come with much more than a hairdo.. I am by default a psychiatrist, nutritionist, consultant, concierge, chemist, formulator, scientist, parenting specialist, relationship advisor, broker, massage therapist and amongst other unverified professions, an overall “wealth of knowledge” (their words not mine)...
We don’t HAVE to wear weaves either, that is most definitely a choice also.
I greatly enjoyed responding to your comment and thank you again for leaving it!!! Have a wonderful rest of the day and please share this video!! 💯😉

I have been SO embarrassed by this, and its gotten to a point where I apologize to my hairdresser as soon as I sit in their chair. I appreciated the information, but also the compassion you showed. I'm going to definitely get one of those tools, and talk to my doctor about that spray.

I stumbled upon this video last night, watched both parts and found it extremely fascinating. I guess what impressed me the most is that you are so dedicated to helping your client. It seems like you've gone above and beyond to help restore her hair and scalp and I don't feel like many hair stylists would do that. You've done a great job, not just with her hair but with rebuilding her self esteem and confidence, I'm sure.

You are a kind, compassionate, intelligent, skilled stylist, and a magician. I honestly could not watch the first video after about 3 minutes. I felt nauseated. I am not in any way meaning to offend anyone. this condition is very frustrating and even emotionally painful for some people ( I had a room mate who had it). I myself have an auto-immune disorder which affects my hair, because it causes thinning and loss. But I wanted to see how you treated this lady and what the final result was. I wish I could find a stylist so amazingly gifted as you. I never had a weave, as I am Latina and have natural wavy hair that has been nice all my life, though it is thinning a lot now. I have so much respect and gratitude for you. Thanks for the great educational videos.

I have psoriasis on my scalp pretty bad. It gets really bad during season changes and when I have stressful periods in my life. I’ve gone to salons to get haircuts and have been turned away bc of my psoriasis. It’s very embarrassing for me and being a young adult being turned away by professionals makes me upset and feel like I’m not doing something right in my routine. I’ve gone to 3 different dermatologist and had one who wouldn’t even touch me to look at my issue. He had the nerve to tell me I don’t have a problem and that if I washed it everyday TWICE A DAY that I wouldn’t have this issue! My scalp bleeds and hurts washing it just every other day! It’s very inspiring to see professionals like you who understand the struggle and want to help. Thank you so much for your services it really does help those of us who feel discouraged and “gross” about out psoriasis. It’s stylist like you that make a difference in the world ❤️

Harmony Cachola-Peck I have psoriasis on my scalp. What works for me is alternating shampoos between Dermarest, Neutrogena T/Gel, and one with tea tree oil, peppermint, and aloe. I also have a prescription ointment called clobetasol proprionate that I use for bad flare ups. And I only wash it every other day too.

Monkeh Bunnes thank you for your help! Just wondering have you had any issues with peppermint or tea tree oil burning your scalp? I've tried a few tea tree products and especially during bad flare ups it burns my scalp! I've learned to water down products with these ingredients to stop the burning but then in turn it obviously doesn't work as it should!

i have eczema on my scalp during stressful periods too and it looks pretty much the same as psoriasis in ways that my scalp erupts, although not anywhere near to her extent. My dermatologist prescribed me a 2% ketoconazole shampoo and I alternate it with my moisturizing shampoo. It works wonders on me although my scalp does feel a burning sensation whenever I use the shampoo, which I honestly think is because the affected scalp is already red and stressed out to begin with. I'm not a medical professional so Idk if it'll work on everyone, but just wanted to share on what worked on me :)

Harmony Cachola-Peck I don't have issues with the shampoo I use but I've never tried a product with tea tree or peppermint that you would leave on.

Harmony Cachola-Peck I've been there. I started my changing my diet and looking at what I was allergic to; both topically and what I ingested. It noticed that panthenol in many hair styling products caused me to flare up. The hair gels, spritz, and holding sprays were snatching my edges!
I'm allergic to nuts. They are everywhere! I ended up eliminating things until I found out what triggered me.
The UA-cam Influnencers started their natural hair videos and taught me about different all natural products. I felt it couldn't hurt. Through trial and error, I learned what worked for me. Now my hair is thick, soft, long (annoyingly so-like big chop worthy), and I am blessed. And grateful. I wish these ladies were around when I was little. I wouldn't have felt so ashamed in high school and my young adult years.
