  • In The Movie Monster Game, for the Commodore 64, play the monster in Epyx's follow up to Crush, Crumble and Chomp! Smash London, Paris, New York, Moscow or San Francisco with your choice of one of 6 giant monsters, including the officially licensed Godzilla, Tarantula or a Robot.
    Five different plots including escape, rescue, or destroy a landmark. Pesky tiny humans try to stop you with tanks, jets, missiles, etc. While all these basic thematic elements of Crush, Crumble and Chomp! have been carried over, the game does not use the same strategy game orders system for movement of your monster.
    Instead, you can now freely move your monster around the city, in arcade game style, rather than having to enter individual key commands for each movement segment. A shame that The Movie Monster Game was only a 1 player game though

    I remember playing this game once
    a little bit on my Commodore 64 back in the early 2010's.
    In fact, i had it in a compilation called
    EPYX EPICS.
    It was the disk version.
    It was pretty cool.
    And who remembers THE MUNCHER
    from Gremlin Graphics 😹👍🕹️?

      Thats cool, I had that compilation on Cassette but it didn't come with The Movie Monster Game, drat! Haha yes I remember The Muncher, I'll definitely add that one to the list 😇🕹️👌

      I played The Muncher to completion on my Speccy +3. Not a bad game, but this one, however simpler, looks much more interesting.

    Interesting that they actually went for the official Godzilla license instead of coming up with their own take on him (which would be completely legal as long as it doesn't go too far). Epyx was one of favorites back in the day. Jumpman and Jumpman Jr are still among my favorites of all time.

    • @KasumiKenshirou
      @KasumiKenshirou Місяць тому

      Unfortunately on modern retro systems, they had to replace Godzilla. The same happened with the Bruce Lee game, which is now just Lee. But The C64 and similar systems allow you to use your own ROMs pretty easily.

    This game was made for me. At least that was what I thought before getting the game. I'm a huge monster movie and b-movie nerd. So imagine me NOT liking this game when it came out.. The game was ok but my hype for the game was impossible to live up to. And the biggest problem..... Well let's say it in the voice of Marlon "the horror, the horror" Brandos voice. The loading times, the loading times....... I will give it another go in an emulator later today. Who knows, perhaps this game and me can be friends again.

    • @CheekyCommodoreGamer
      @CheekyCommodoreGamer  Місяць тому
