On the morning of Nov. 20, 2023, Russians came to Raisa Rusnak’s home, looking for her 28-year-old son Ruslan. Four masked men threw him onto the ground and began beating him. "Guys, what have I done to you? What do you want from me?" Ruslan shouted. Those were the final words Raisa heard from her son. She never saw him alive again. In the police headquarters on Torhova Street in Hornostaivka, where Ruslan was taken, the Russian occupation police have been operating for two and a half years. The occupiers have established a torture chamber in this building. Ruslan is one of many Ukrainians taken there by the Russians and not the only one for whom it ended fatally. The fate of many others remains unknown. (Kyiv Independent, October 2024.)
That awesome painting is by Ilya Repin. I have a framed print of it on my wall. I saw the original in Kharkiv right before the full scale invasion, actually. It's an amazing painting. Repin was a brilliant artist. It's variously called the Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks to the Sultan among other similar titles. There are a few different versions painted by Repin being displayed elsewhere.
Wow! It's such a cool painting, imagine seeing the original irl! The story behind it is so cool too, & the modern recreation of it is PERFECT. I also saw a sketch Zelenskyy's comedy show did based on it, & obviously it was "the letter to putin".
Bricks depends on the russian taking of Ukraine to keep itself relivant. Russia loses and now paying reparations will sink the whole idea. China is struggling. So who will back this system? Brazil? India? This is why it is so important for Ukraine to win this war. It is an existential threat to the Western laws and trading.
Gold - that is the real key to upending the current financial and trade standards. That might sound strange but when you track inflation, how countries have modified CPI numbers, and more - it all majorly starts (for peace time inflation) as a result of the end of the gold standard, and the ability for nations to just print money and mask the negative impact - extending that negative impact over years. China probably won't/can't really afford it, Russia can't. India though? India is buying up gold - in pretty significant amounts. To put this more simply: Fiat has failed - it is creating an environment of mass wealth disparity, diminishing economic value creation in western nations in favour of cheap imports from nations with no labour, nor environmental standards. Fiat is the existential threat to the West. Bricks, ironically, creating an external value hold that has staying power will force western governments to change policies and start rationing government spending. As far as western law and trade goes though? It's not an existential threat - if anything, we are going to see free trade relationships start to be torn up in favour of semi-protectionist policies that put terrifs on imports and the use of foreign services for local businesses; one of the simpler approaches would be a "terrif for subsidy" policy where nations who's governments grant undo subsidies for different industries, see those products terrifed when exporting to nations that likewise produce - and, to nations who have interest in maintaining good trade partnerships with all nations producing that good. Thus we would be moving from a Free trade approach, to what could be termed a fair trade approach.
@@formes2388 agree and disagree. There was huge wealth disparity when the world ran on gold being the universal standard. That will never change. People are greedy and do not really care who they hurt to gain power/wealth. This is why Communism in any of it's forms will never work. There was inflation while on a gold standard. In fact, all the 'smart' economists say inflation necessary at a controlled rate. Fiat currency had been around for thousands of years. And it is as good as the government that makes it. It isn't the currency that is the problem. It is the government that thinks thay can manipulate their currency and THIS time it won't blow up because they are smarter than every other government that has done it before. But BRICS IS an existential threat to the Western financial scheme. Especially America. The dollar's value is based on it being the universal form of trade payment. So USA has gotten away with cranking out the dollars as fast as they want. There are so many dollars now that their true value is negligible. Their only perceived as having value because of the ease of transfer among every country as opposed to having to convert one country's fluctuating currency to another country's fluctuating currency. Using the dollar means every currency is pegged to the dollar to some degree. And that means that I can sell you my goods and get payment next month when the value of my goods remains stable and your payment is held stable. Introduce a better option and all those extra trillions of dollars that foreign countries hold to settle their trade payments will no longer be required. That means that the dollar has no more international value. And that is the end of American economy. And where America goes, Europe is soon to follow.
Sometimes… It’s better to ask for forgiveness, than it is to ask for permission… Ukraine has made many smart ethical decisions on their own… Ukraine has to do what it has to do… (Lessons from an American mom) 😃

The NK troops are brainwashed to believe they're real badazz. Ever watch their super soldier demonstrations showing their comic book level of martial arts? Its hilarious cuz its so easy to see pre-cut wood or foam bricks and whatever easily breakable material they use for these silly demos.

A version is probably in the Mikhailovsky Palace, Russian Museum, St Petersburg, ruZZia ??

Well, zelensky already have his victory plan: he has bought his escape villas in London and Florida

It’s better to ask for forgiveness, than it is to ask for permission…

@AC-jk8wq I agree totally. But I think it would be really symbolic to support our friends in Ukraine and put the message out that dictators and war criminals will be dealt with, and we will come to our allies' defence.
They may have elite training but combat is a totally different beast and leadership counts.
Elite experience and ranking comes from doing and surviving A LOT of combat. Same as experience gained at the work place through the years. The Koreans have 0 XP. Level 1 grunts.
elite parade troops, NK has no interest wasting its elite troops in Russia, if anything they will clear out their camps and send duds
Think deeper, not so Yankee shallow
There are literally 100s of thousands of North Korean special forces.
Elite means nothing there.
Probably means they actually fired a few rounds on gun range as opposed to one's that didn't.

I fully agree, it's a big deal. Actually sending thousands of regular army troops is a declaration of war by north korea. It must have an appropriate and very strong answer from the west

Russia have been sending their stored weaponry which actually still works. They havent been sending old units which no longer work. Russia is already running short of weaponry.
The reason for putting old weapons in storage is so they can be used when needed. We do the same in the USA as they still work.
@@sixgunsymphony7408 Yes, that's right...however in USA they store old weapons in desert conditions where deterioration is minimal.Russia doesnt have such regions and also doesnt maintain its old weapons and so wastage is comparatively high. I am also sure that USA no longer stores sherman tanks. Another thing which USA does which Russia doesnt. : prior to storeage, all weaponry is subjected to a rigorous maintenance regime to ensure that it is fully functional when placed intyo storage. ( since there is little point in storing rubbish). So where Russia are breaking out its 1950s Joseph Stallin tanks which will still run, USA has already pensioned off its old M60 tanks..
