Really nicely played out scenario. Always a pleasure to follow your efforts to reach the goal of the task. You comment on your moves really well 😀. The Marefontaine Battery, WN32, was 2 km inland from the Gold Beach KING sector (not far from the battery at Mont Fleury, where Stan Hollis of the 6th Green Howards distinguished himself). The battery consisted of 4 x 100mm guns in closed concrete casemates. Fire was directed from forward observers via telephone lines. On D-Day, the battery was heavily shelled - more than 250 rounds - from, among others, HMS Belfast (now a museum ship on the Thames in London). Units of the 7th Green Howards assaulted the battery with the help of two Chrocodile flamethrowers. The battery surrendered without appreciable fighting. The battery's 4 bunkers still remain to this day. They are on private property - so ask for permission if you want to come to them.
Oh didn't know that! Did you go to see it? If so, are the property owners good to deal with? I am hopefully heading to Normandie in my RV the coming autumn.
@@WW2SolitaireBoardGameChannel I have not been to Marefontaine Battery myself. But I have read that it is on private land. In addition, the KING sector on Gold Beach is an interesting place to visit with several exciting locations - including the all new BRITISH NORMANDY MEMORIAL near Ver-sur-Mer (I have not been, but it's on my wish list). And take, for example, the D514 where the road Voie de la 50ème Division d'Infanterie turns towards the beach. Then you look directly at the KING sector and Stan Hollis' Hut. Then you really feel the whir of history.
I'm looking forward to your Kickstarter unboxing. I discovered from the book that I missed the WFG Promo 2 pack, and it isn't even available at their website at the moment. Oh well. I doubt I'll go for Pacific, because I had serious health issues this year with my G.I. tract that hopefully won't resurface next year. If it does, or if my age gets in the way, I don't want to be tied to any more Kickstarter campaigns. I have plenty of D-Day Dice 2nd edition to occupy my time. I'm seriously tempted to purchase the 1st Edition from the secondary market just for fun, because I see complete sets on offer several times. I know I can play the maps from the Legacy book, but I do envy those speckled dice.
I do an unboxing of those promo packs and don't worry mate, you're not missing out. I'm not going to play with them since I like to keep it as historical as possible. I got them to support WFG. DDD is so big now that many retailers will buy copies, so you should just buy it when it goes to retail so you don't have to risk it. I personally stopped using Kickstarter with some very few exceptions, DDD being one of those. Man same here, I am a completionist and would love the first Ed with all expansions.. Those speckled dice are cool and make the game feel more adult and serious. I hope your health issues improve my friend, as you know I'm in the same boat with Cystic Fibrosis. Cheers!
At around 2:50 you recruit the drill sergeant. Where does the drill sergeant come from? I have have pretty much all of DDay Dice but don’t recall seeing a drill sergeant. Thanks.

@Pegasus6-6-44 Incredible! Now you are making me want to go even more 😆
Epic Win ! Inside the Bunker would have been amazing on this map 😅
@@davidg.1387 It's coming! I just need to finish the maps first 😁
@WW2SolitaireBoardGameChannel Yeah 😋

If the Pacific goes well, speckled dice might make a comeback 🙂

@@AmiralA You mean the metal dice ?
@@davidg.1387 Speckled. Like the ones we gave during 1st Edition, but with slightly different colors.
@@AmiralA I have to check these. I hope the metal ones will be available too. They are indeed perfect for the leutenant.

@@jima.931 He is in one of the expansion packs, can't remember which one. There is a card database on bgg where you can find it!
