We did the 14 day Grand European with Viking. They were great. The History. The beauty. The service on board! The Chocolate Museum in Cologne! We made some friends on board. Great video!
@@valerieroberts8241 It was not part of the excursion. It was within just a minute or two of walking from where the boat tied up. There was a cover charge, but considering we are talking chocolate here...it was not too high.

Hi Larry G, I loved your video and am very excited to be going on this cruise in August. Did you do all of the optional tours and if so, are there any that we could skip? On a bit of a budget. Also a question for your partner, did they have hairdryers on board or can you take your own? I read somewhere that coffee makers and hairdryers are not permitted, but I've seen a couple of videos with a hairdryer from home and a curling iron. Thanks, Karen
Hi Karen. Thanks for watching and please subscribe to my channel. I did all of the tours that you see in my video. The Black Forrest tour was a bit disappointing. It's a very long bus ride and although the area is scenic and beautiful, it was commercialized and not what I imagined. The Black Forrest cake was also lousy and hardly sweet. We watched a demo of cake making but had to pay $7 for a slice. No freebies. Yes there are hair dryers aboard. Enjoy your trip.

Hi Sheila. Pack a good pair of sneakers and get a good night's rest on the ship. The tours usually start early and some have quite a bit of walking. You are going to have an amazing experience. Enjoy!
I ate dinner on the ship every night but had lunches on the excursions. The Strasbourg from the Top excursions was a lot of walking and the stair climb to the overlook was very challenging even for someone in shape and fit.
Thanks for the video! We are leaving from Amsterdam and have been searching for Covid tests that are "laboratory-certified" and either reviews are terrible or prices are very high. How strict was Viking on Covid test wording? Thank you for any info you have (or any other Viking travelers out there).
I believe it just needs to be a PCR test from a lab. Check with Viking as things may have changed since my trip. If you call them, they are very helpful.

Did you do the excursion to Rudesheim or did you go on your own?
There was no excursion there. The ship stopped there for a few hours and we were able to explore on our own. It's a very small town.
