That's a load of shit....They won because they out played them. Only 1 player was missing if U listen she was playing in Japan up at this time. USA played Smarter & physically better! End of story!
Joey C The Cuban team is missing Luis, Carvajal, Calderon, and Izquierdo. Yumilka was still a junior bench player in 96 so she was not part of the starting lineup at that time. The US is missing Caren Kemner in this game. There's no need to get too hyped up in this comment section. The USA team played their game in this match and Cuba did not find its stride on this day. USA won fair and square and there is no need to debate that. The fact remains: Cuba was the overwhelming vball superpower in the 90s and they have nothing to prove. 3 olympic gold medals in a row, 2 world championship wins in a row, they held the American continent at the top of the international competition. So don't anyone get it twisted.
ViardotVSGrisi I'm not upset or hypt up, I simply told the truth and stand by it! Everyone wants to talk down on USA but they are & will remain the top of this as well others sports. Just ask Brazil!!!
USA team was getting ready for ATLANTA 96..and at first, these matches against the N1 team in the world then -CUBA-seemed to indicate a bright end for the veteran American squad -,who won Bronze at Barcelona 92...Still Cuba proved to be too much for them at Atlanta 96 ,where both teams face each other once again, having the last laugh the Caribbean team with a sweet and powerful 3-0 win ( 15-1, 15-10 and 15-12 ) .....With that the Caren Kemner generation reach an end. A difference with Cuba, that have vanished from the glorious days that they had in the 80s and 90s..the USA team have endurance the changes and its until today one of the Top 3 nations in the sport ,even over Brazil ..I just wish that kemner and her teammates would’ve a better ending in Atlanta .
The pair of commentators in the game were so naive. That Mireya Luis, Carvajal, and other first 6 players were not on the game was a strategy by the Cuban Team. These games were a run up to the Olympics such that the full strength of the team and the full line up and their coordination ought not to be unduly exposed. In the end, the strategy paid off and Cuba were Olympic champions again.
Si,claro, aqui ponen las partes "gloria" de USA en este juego....pero las cubanas las esperaron en la Olimpiadas y le dieron durisimo...pa' que vean que los chicharos son tan buenos como el jamon !! No jodan !!
Great respect for the Cuban team, financially was still a developing country, at the end they won the Olympic gold medal. Kudo to the coach.
USA won because regla torres, carvajal, yumilka and especially mireya luis didn't play to CuBa on this match.I wonder why the Cuban team was incomplete.

Two of the 6 Cuban starters from Atlanta were here (Bell and O'Farrill). Missing were Luis, Carvajal, Torres and Costa.
yeah, but the Cubans came back and win the Gold
Respect both teams, admired Cubans' jumping and swinging ability. Was a spectator at that very game.

A parte Cuba no jugo con el equipo titular
Very good game they re hit the ball super strong
USA num 9... is a woman?
Yes offcourse..
Karen kemner era macho...aventajado
Jajajaja unos días después Cuba aplastó a USA en cuartos de final 3 a 0 y gano su segundo oro olimpico
