Thanks, Aux O. Very helpful.
You're the best
Thx bro very helpful I didn’t had to check online
thanks! helped alot
I had a Yamaha Pacifica. The lowest end model. That guitar stayed in tune better than any other guitar iv'e ever owned. And I'm talking $2k plus guitars. You could dive-bomb and pull on the trem like a lunatic and it would NEVER go out of tune. I don't know what sorcery Yamaha is using to build those things, but I highly recommend the Pacifica.
I confirm the above, i have 2 pacificas the 112V and 311H, the 311H is a pro- grade instrument, but the 112V although labeled as a beginners guitar i can fully agree that it stays in tune better than my now sold G SG, actually it stays very well in tune. Well the Gibson is out of my arsenal and there is 2 pacificas, both bought second hand for 20% of the price of one Crapson... Nothing beginner nor cheap in the Pacificas!!
"I had a Yamaha Pacifica."
*had* ? What did you do with it? Did you sell it?
abc123 I agree that there is some sort of wizardry behind how Yamaha can produce so good guitars fit, finish, playabillity wise for a fraction of the cost of a Fender etc... simply incredible yet 80% of people overlook their guitars and go with crap. (holding my PAC112V while writing this, haven't tuned it in a week and still sings in Drop-D!)
@@jameswcollett Yes I sold it to a buddy of mine. He also has an American Strat but he likes the Yamaha better.
@@elnyoutube123 I picked up a Revstar RS420 a few months ago. I knew nothing about these guitars before I found it second hand in my local music store. It is gorgeous to play. And it is soundly made. Go Yamaha!
1. Yamaha Pacifica 112j $250-300
2. Epiphone Lucille $800
3. Ibanez SA160/260
4. Gretsch electromatic pro jet
5. Fender standard Stratocaster
6. Danelecteo 59XT
7. Epiphone les paul standard
I agree with the Yamaha being best bang for the buck.
What about yamaha pacifica 112v?
Guessed them all right, but the Gretsch was too easy :D
@@Bleideris0 The €40,- difference is more a taste issue. I can't see that there is a difference is between the two, althought it states on the Thomann site the V has alnico pick ups and the J has no specification on that.
Fender Stratocaster standard in cheap guitar list?
Your videos are so wholesome and positive. I never see you talking trash about brands or guitars, play styles out anything really. There's always a bright side of things with you :) keep on going.

Schecter Guitars are underrated and need to be more recognized for their quality and value
Love my PT Blackjack Tele style.
I love my Schecter Hellraiser Extreme C-1 FR. Mine has a flamed maple top with crimson red burst in a satin finish and a flamed maple neck, and it looks gorgeous. I love the active EMG pickups, the coil tap on the neck, the separate volume controls, etc. My only complaint is that at 9.5 lbs it's heavier than I'd like.
The standard Hellraiser C-1s can be found for $400-500 used and are a lot of guitar for the money. And they're only ~8.5 lbs. :)
I agree, I've since upgraded to a Charvel SoCal but my Schecter Omen Extreme FR served me extremely well for almost 10 years, paid 300 canadian pesos for it and it could still be my main guitar no problem
@@zacharyclarke4240 The neck heel is the only thing I don't like about the Omen Extremes (and other lower priced Schecters) - they have a boxy neck heel like you find on Fenders, rather than the sculpted heel of Ibanez or Jackson. That's the one area where I feel Schecter needs to catch up.
The heels on the more expensive set-neck and thru-neck guitars are amazing.
Agreed, I am considering on an OMEN-6 for my first electric guitar, just need to get some extra cash in my pocket because $400 is a bit too high for me at the moment.
Darrell. Love your stuff. Sometimes you play a clean bit when you test guitars. Please do that more - distortion tends to make guitars sound very similar.
Yee and he did tapping on the “vintage tone" guitar
So... Where is your tone wood then? 😂😂😂
Yes Agreed!
My thoughts too. They all sound aliike using a bluesy distortion tone. Hard to compare.
This guy i swear. Can make a 20$ walmart guitar sound awsome
sour Mc'nuggets your right about that
I know he is so amazing, his knowledge is off the charts
Great attitude as well, needs more subscribers
I can make a 5k dollar guitar sound like a $20 guitar.
Its largely about the amp when it comes to sound. Plugging a cheap guitar into an expensive amp will make it sound good. Just look for playability and pickup type, everything past that is just visuals
I think it's quite the point he's making
I completely agree for the Ibanez. Tried it in a shop, was amazed by the finish quality and the sound. Bought it.
I said it last video but I’ll say it again: that red and gold gretsch is gorgeous
Darrell & Phillip Mc are the only guitar experts I watch anymore. Most of the other guitar videos are amateurish and sometimes full of erroneous information. I really respect these two guys’ opinions.👍🏼
I have to tell you, I had the itch to buy a PRS SE, but I came across a used Schecter Damien FR with EMG 61/65 pickups for under $300 that was amazing! Schecter is a high value guitar brand.
Yep. Love my Schecter C 1+, light, gorgeous inlays.
I agree. I used to have a Schecter C1 plus and it was the best guitar Ive ever owned! Played amazing and looked even better! I still get pissed at me myself for selling that one because they dont make them anymore.
Schecter S1?
Second that! Schecter is doing amazing work.
i wish you test all this guitars in a clean amp, for my ears all sound the same
Has to be using some kind of a modelling amp, how is he making a Dan Electro sound like the Ibanez ??
That's why I say that 90% of your tone comes from your amp and effects (and your hands), and only 10% from the guitar and pickups. :)
@@eb9131 The same amp with the same effects will make two different guitars sound very similar, particularly when you add a backing track behind them.
You'll be able to tell them apart if you listen closely, or have really good ears, but the average person may not even realize you switched guitars.
Yeah, they all sound the same.
@@alextimo That's not always the case though. I have a Ibanez that sounded like a toy guitar through my amp. But every other guitar me and my friends have hooked up through that amp sound really good. Had to rebuild that Ibanez with better pick-ups to fix it's problem.
Here are some of my favourite guitars that won't break the bank! Enjoy
Let me know if you guys have any high quality quality guitars that didn't cost and arm and a leg!!
The old American made Peaveys are a great value. They are criminally under-priced for the quality you get.
@@cr33d4 the Destiny and Signature models are superb machines
G&L Tribute series
My guitar tech likes Austin guitars for beginners. They don't cost much more than Squiers and he thinks they are superior to the current Fender Standard Series (his apprentice thinks they are equal but not superior).
@@michaelmalik5049 Equal or superior, the Austin guitars are scary good for what little they cost.
I've bought Yamaha Pacifica 112J for about 118USD in my country indonesia, 11 years ago and its been my main guitar on stage . Its still sounds good tho and i only change the tuner machine. And i agree that yamaha pac112j are worth the money even on its cheap price tag (pardon my english hehe 😅). Keep playing darrell! Much respect from indonesia 🤙🤙
Your english is perfect, brother. No need to apologize for it. Keep it up.
Yep! Amazing guitars. I switched out my humbucker for a P90 though and it’s even more amazing now. The single coils I always loved anyways.
That's dope, man.
@@egierzal2184 waktu dulu sih masih sekitar 1,4 jt bro. Reccomended kok, dibawa manggung ga rewel. Cuma harus ganti tuning dryer nya bro kalo mau lebih maksimal hasilnya 😁
@@AustrianEconomist bit shy to speak or write in english since its not my mother tongue, but thanks bruv 😁
I like how you actually take the cheap guitars for what they are and don't slate them or compare them to a guitar 10x the price
Always a pleasure listening to you play Darrell.
Great choices and video, Darrell! I agree with some others that the Epiphone G400s, especially the G400 Pro '66 is an amazing value for the money. I had the non-pro '61 and it was still a good guitar but not quite as good as they are now. I have an alpine white one that I adore and it was like $369 new.
Other than that, I feel for $799 the Epiphone Les Paul Tribute Plus (USA pickups, selector, pots, input jack, tuners, and some other stuff) is incredible value (I own one in black cherry), but I wouldn't call that low cost unless we're speaking relative to Gibson (especially given the perfection of the fit and finish). Ultimately, as you said, the standard is still amazing with those Probuckers or the Probucker/Alnico Classic Pro combo. I had one of those as well in cherry sunburst before the tribute, and while the sound of the latter is something to behold, the plus top pro served me plenty well until I upgraded and was $499 new.
G&L Tribute series guitars are also an outstanding value. You can find them used with G&L American pickups for c. $300. Polish up the frets and you've an instrument that, IMO, equals if not rivals an American Fender Tele or Strat. Good hunting.
My Hagstrom Swede is a nice guitar. It was a little dark, so I swapped capacitors from 47’s to 22’s and used orange drops and that woke things up a bit. It’s sturdy, stays in tune and the finish is beautiful. I’ll be putting my Dimarzio Super Didtortion pickups in it because I got a great deal on a Gibson SG with PAFs so I don’t need to keep it stock to cover that tone any more.
I was expecting the Classic Vibe '50s Tele to make an appearance. That guitar is CRAZY freakin' good.. And not just good "for the money", either.
I'll take one over an MIM any day.
Agree, I bought one and i love it !!
This. That’s gotta be the most bang for your buck guitar out there.
Agreed..... I love mine and the tone is incredible.
Mine's my go-to guitar.
I have the butterscotch and it's amazing in sound and appearance like you said.
Ive had good luck with Japanese and Korean guitars. They are always cheaper and some feel honestly better than some guitars that are in the 500-1000 dollar ranges. The other cool thing is you can always mod a guitar if its the electronics that are bugging you. That is personally my favorite way of getting a nice sounding guitar because of all my years I haven’t heard the difference in terms of wood and shape. I’ve even experimented by switching some fishman pick ups in my Squire jagmaster and the more expensive fender version. I ironically play the squire more as well because I modded it to have the sound I want.
Just experiment with cheap guitars until you find something that fits and you can teach yourself what you want from a guitar. Because some people want the gritty humbucker where others like the crisp single coil. Its all in preference.
Cheers and blessings.
I'll be over to try them all out. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video. Your channel is always great. The guitar that stands out on your list, other than Lucille would be the Gretsch Jet Pro. What an amazingly beautiful and great sounding instrument. Ever since Fender took a strong interest in improving the brand, the QC has improved as well as their stock pickup selection. Their colors are awesome too.
Very interesting video Darrell! I didn't buy my cheapest guitar until my 6th and latest...my Jackson Soloist. My guitars are all under the Fender umbrella, Daphne Blue or Surf Green, and I love them all!
Any Tom DeLonge or Mark Hoppus models in that bunch 👀
Tom Delonge strat or epiphone 335 you cant go wrong!
Love the channel and everything you are doing. Your playing style is relaxed but full of neat tricks and easy to watch. Thank you. I would recommend the Squier J Mascis signature Jazzmaster. Hidden gem!
tel nobody did you have to replace the bridge to ensure tuning and bending stability?
I don’t have the Squier but my Fender is stock standard and handles anything with ease. I play with a lot of dynamics and even my heaviest strikes do not pop the saddles as is often the complaint. When the arm became loose after several years I simply removed the bridge plate and pinched the ferrules a little closer.
Dan Brian, the J mascis model already comes with a TOM bridge. It’s not the crappy bridge.
I put a staytrem bridge on JMJM, and upgraded the trem to the fender AVRI unit, and intonation and stability are now flawless. I got the guitar used for $250, and put about $200 in upgrades, so I’ve got in it what a new one would cost, but a far superior instrument that rivals the
$1000 fenders.
After watching a few of your vids I really like how you present everything. Very understandable :-D
Thanks a lot for your videos. I am an intermediate that hasn’t played in about 20 years, due to a family and the things that go with it. I’m looking for a new guitar and this one really helped out a lot. I subscribed and looking forward to seeing more of your videos.
The best guitar related channel on UA-cam! Great balance between discussion, playing and recommendations. And an infectiously positive attitude to boot. Good on you and God bless, my friend! P.s. you are understated yet immensely talented. All this from a bass guy... for shame lol. Keep up the good work!
I have a couple pretty expensive Gibsons and a few years ago I picked up a MIM Tele for $200 just to have something different to mess around on and it has become my #1. $$$ doesn't mean you will love it and if you don't love it you won't play it. Great video!!!
PRS SE and G&L Tribute are my go to Mid Range guitars - plus the already mentioned Epiphone Les Paul.
Canadians are just the nicest people. Excellent video and so helpful, especially noobs. Thank you and keep up the great work!
I can vouch for the Mexican-made Strat.
I bought my first one in 1993-94-ish and it still plays great to this day!! I’m constantly amazed at how well it stays in tune.
I have a black & white Danelectro 59 12-string which I use as a 6 string, because I like wide necks! This thing is GREAT! Its pickups are ace, and it plays beautifully. If they’re good enough for Jimmy Page and Jack Bruce, they’re good enough for me!
Is it versatile? I really liked the tone of this on Darell playing.
Nice I love your channel it gives a lot of lesson as a guitar player keep it up bro
Great reviews! BTW, love the Imperial Walker in the background!
Over the years being around house bands and bar bands (some before they hit big ) one thing is apparent. In the hands of a talented guitarist (such as Darrell) almost any guitar can sound great ! Really enjoyed this show and tell!! Keep up the good work and informative videos.
True Story!
Darrell could probably put shoelaces on a popsicle stick and make it sound good.
For the record I am having a great day I was sick for a little while and I just got better today
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂👍🏻
Another great video! Thanks so much for your terrific videos, knowledge and insight. I will ask for one thing that others have asked for, that is, when demo-ing a guitar I'd like to hear it's clean sound. However, overall I think you're videos are the best. So there!
Love the channel, this video in particular when you are playing the solo stuff it sounds like the ending of a 90210 episode.
So for someone who wants to buy a first electric guitar to learn on would you recommend Ibanez sa260 or Yamaha pac112v? What amp would you recommend to go with it?
Mr Darrel please see the "vault strat or soloist" electric guitar it's a great value for money....I have one of em
I own both low-end Yamaha and Ibanez guitars, although different models than the ones you mentioned (they're both HSH), and been ever happy with them. The only other guitar I wish I'd bought was a natural finished Godin which was awesomely amazing for the price tag; I tried a few guitars in that time, and it's the only one I'd have happily thrown money at. Meanwhile, my 200CAD Yamaha got me going for very long, until I realized how bad the pickups were in that thing (it's over 20 years old by now; cheap electronics was cheap indeed back then). That's when I upgraded for the Ibanez; I'm very happy ever since. Replacing the cheap plastic pickguard with a custom-made wood one improved the tone even more, especially when playing unplugged. Such a pleasure!
Really enjoy your videos and listening to your great playing.
Hei there, have 3 of those guitars :) what about the PRS SE i have a soapbar II maple top, great value imho. Thank you for your great content. Love it
Hi Darrell I have to give a shout out to the Gretsch Streamliner series. The 2420T gives you the full fat Gretsch Hollowbody with Bigsby for under $400 if you shop around.
Would love to see you do this type of video for Acoustic guitars. Great video!
Thanks for all your hard work!
PRS SE custom 22 semi-hollow. Can find them for £600-£750. Just awesome guitars.
The Yamaha Revstar are great too and really affordable...
Amazing guitars
not very affordable at $1000.00 ?
There are Revstars brand new for 500-600. My RS502 was 495 brand new in Reverb.
Agreed
Yep, exactly.. I have my eye on this series. Still not sure which model but im getting closer
Thanks for lessons 💝
4:15 that tap... OH! when you play demonstrations they're great and they sound like they belong in a gritty blue 1980s good cop bad cop movie... Like 48 hours I dig it! Thank you
It's funny, when you pulled out that Pacifica, it immediately brought me back to what I thought to be a crappy Squier Affinity Series Strat that I owned for a few years. I've played some American Fenders and other fenders, and this little crappy Squier beat all of them. Sure the sound of the pickups wasn't like super preferable, but it felt and played with such ease. I don't own that guitar anymore and I kind of wish I still did. Lol.
Very Cool! Great video - I'm always heartened by those who assess a guitar for its merits and omit the snobbery. The truth is that the world is awash in great guitars in the $400-$600 range - especially on the used market. As someone who hit his teens in the late 70s, I can tell you that the guitar nowadays in this range are often as good or better than the higher priced name brand instruments (i.e. medium price for a name brand) were at the time. Back then, anything under $200 (over $700 in today's money) would have had so-so pick-ups, bad action, and questionable electronics. (I'm looking at you Hondo II Les Paul copy....). Kids these days don't know how good they have it.
Over the past couple of years, I've bought an embarrassing number of higher end Epiphones, Squiers (CVs and VMs), MIM Fenders, Danelectros, Gretsches and a few other brands. In some cases stock, in others with a few upgrades (better tuners, nut, pick-ups, electronics). I've picked up several Epiphone Les Pauls on Reverb, where the previous owner upgraded to locking tuners, bone nut, better electronics, and Gibson/Duncan/Dimarzio/EMG pick-ups and sold it for around $400, with a gig bag or HS case. The classic vibes can hold their own with the MIM Fenders, which in turn can usually hold their own with the MIAs, although they might not be quite so nice in fit and finish -they all play and sound great. If I miss that old vanilla nitrocelullose smell, I figure I can pick up a bottle of vanilla extract from the grocery store and rub it on my guitar every few weeks. At least with polyester/polyurethane finishes, I don't have to worry about my guitars spontaneously combusting.....
I know you made your list short for the sake of brevity. My top votes for omitted guitars: G400 Pro series from Epiphone (great SG versions that roar and stay in tune better than the originals they are modeled after). In fact, any Epiphone guitars using "Pro" series pick-ups need to be checked out. I have several guitars with actual Gibson pick-ups in them, and I have to concentrate to hear the difference, when A/B-ing them with the Epi Pros . So anything Epiphone Pro - 335, 339, etc.... is worth checking out. An underdog I would recommend as well would be some of the medium to higher end (3000 series and above) Agile guitars (I think they are a Rondomusic house brand made in Korea). I have a baritone Les Paul style and a fretless 12 string Les Paul Style, and they are very high quality -very sturdy, good, detailed binding/finish, 18:1 Grover tuners, good pick-ups, great fit and finish -overall, very impressive. Agufish reviewed one or two a while back and was blown away by them. Given the quality, I'm convinced they are made in the Epiphone factories between Epiphone runs....
I've got an Epi ES 335 Pro. I just love the way it feels and sounds. Hard to beat. Cost me 600$ with a hardcase!
thanks for your awesome information. Your videos make me fall in love with electric guitars. I'm Student and I'm trying my best to afford my first guitar.thank you very much again
Darrell, your music is awesome. In fact one of your guitar testing tunes is my caller tune. I expect similar great stuff in future, best wishes
Wow! The veneer on that Epi LP Std. looks amazing, especially considering its price range.
Every time I’ve picked up a Dano, it’s said “BUY ME!” And sometime soon, I’ll have the cash on hand to do it.
As usual another top notch video. Thanks for posting!
Thank you so much for the information 🙏
For a Strat-esk guitar, you can pick up a used Peavey Predator 80-90's (USA made) for around $150 (USD)
I'd love to see you do a review of one of these... Maybe mod it with an FU Tone kit, D-tuna, maybe a kill switch. I just bought a used mint EVH Wolgang Standard WG Red quilt maple top. Bought off of FB Marketplace from a guy that needed money to buy his "new" girlfriend a Christmas gift. He was asking $400.00 and I showed him the $320.00 cash I had in my wallet. Done. It's like new and is setup perfectly. These compact guitars are fantastic from the Indonesian built Standard, to the Mexico built Special (if you can buy a used made in Japan Special for less than $1000.00 in good condition... Snatch it up. I have a 2010 MIJ and love it), or a USA built Wolfgang are all great and have the best necks I've ever played. The Standard may be the best one for even seasoned players for gigging or practice. As the price goes up, you actually get more serious, with better hardware like SS frets (I don't play enough, or well enough that I need these). I'd love to hear you play one! while they are ROCK machines, they clean up really nice! Merry Christmas Darrell
I love your channel bro, blind test! the sound is what really matters in music. I'm a 37 years old musician sax player and a few weeks ago I decided to start teaching my self to play electric guitar (I've studied classical guitar as a secondary instrument) the first issue I've noticed is that in this world of e. guitar there's a lot of "BS" and miss conceptions... I have a Yamaha RGX 220 DZ and a Fender Pro Junior amp, it Sound really awesome!... I'd love if you can make a video about those brands not so fancy (like yamaha) in their top line instruments! (by the way excuse my bad english) greetings from México... keep on rocking!
I was introduced to Vintage Reissued Guitars. Love them. They run around the $500-$600 depending what you get. I have the V6 Stratocaster and the V72 Telecaster.
Have a pair of Agile 3000 series. 2 of my favorites and the price is hard to argue with.
Why does his playing sound like music that plays before the movie when you go to the theatre?
Underrated comment
That was awesome. #7 Les Paul is the one for me. Thank you for a great and fair review.
Nice Video! Loved the Danelectro. I've been hearing and seeing some great things about the Epiphone Les Paul Vintage edition - 6 colours/shades I love the Poplar plain satin finish. But the questions below are what stops me from buying one. I like to roll over the tailpiece with my strings. . I'd love to see you review one. Chinese made and retail for about 200.00 Canadian. Come with p-90's and the most consistent complaint I hear are the fret trims and the Tuning keys. I have noticed that I see reviews of these with and without the tailpiece -which I don't mind saying confuses me
Can you try amp modeling multi-effects into acoustic amps? thank you!
Yamaha Pacifica Pac 012 is really value for money versatile guitar for a beginner.
Always informative videos! Thank you. I do wish the guitars were played straight through an amp without pedals. The tonal characteristics of the guitars are more apparent in my opinion. Still great videos from a knowledgeable source!
Hey brother, love your videos!!! I really enjoy watching them and you have helped me with alot of stuff, so thank you sir!!! I am curious to know what your thoughts on a dean razorback!! I know it's not really your kind of guitar, but have you played one..?
Keep the videos coming!!!!!!!
Thank you for the video. Are these presented in your order of preference?
What do you think of the Epiphone SGs?
Personally, I LOVE 'em, but that's me. Go to a store and try one, especially the ones with ProBucker pickups.
I just love the playability of the SG which I play more than my Les Paul, Strat, and G&L Tele combined
I personally think the epiphone les Paul standard is one of the best low cost guitars

i’m in love with the danelectro 😍

Hey, great videos! I'm a pretty big fan of the Hagstrom brand of electrics, do you think you could show 'em a little love and showcase a few? I'd love to hear your opinion on what, to me, also seem to be a super value. I currently own the Ultra Swede... You could start with that one! Once again, great channel with quality content!
Try out some Michael Kelly guitars! I have the Patriot Custom and it's awesome.
Just bought an Epiphone Les Paul Special II for $91 used from Guitar Center in amazing condition.
kidkreole7 I love mine too. I am a beginning player and this guitar has been perfect. I’ve been telling myself someday when I’m a “real” guitar player that I’ll treat myself my dream Gibson Les Paul. In the end my playing ability is the limiting factor, not the name on the headstock. My epiphone les Paul special will get me by for now and it will always be a proud member of my collection. Cheers bro!🍻
Ya did good, kid.
WOW!
Hi Darrell, thanks for your video, as always informative as it is. I have this project that buying a cheap guitar and upgrade it with high quality parts. But I am not sure which one i will go for- Squier bullet Telecaster or stratocaster/ Yamaha Pacifica? I think the yamaha Pacifica you reviewed in your video is Pacifica 112 . Have you tried Yamaha Pacifica 012 which is a bit less priced than Pacifica 112 ?
Ibanez Artcore hollow bodies are great value for the price and make for good jazz guitars I think. I have one that was made in 2001, bought it used for $300 in 2005. It's one of the most comfortable guitars I've ever played, and other then the tuners needing to be replaced and the frets needing a leveling just recently (which are normal things for any 20 year old guitar), I've never had any problems with the guitar. I also replaced the stock pickups recently with a Seymour Duncan Benedetto A6 and a TV Jones Power Tron Plus and it's sounding really good now too.
My name is Darrell too I was named after Dimebag Darrell and it's cool seeing another guitarist named Darrell.
Just making a comment about all the people who say they buy an Epiphone Les Paul and immediately tear out the pickups and replace with Gibson pickups. First off, the Epis aren't bad pickups. They sound pretty good, unless you get a really low end model like a special or something. But if that's what you want to do, you can just buy the Epiphone Tribute Plus that comes stock with Gibson '57's, switchcraft components and high quality capacitors. Never mind the hardshell case included. The pickups go for $320. The case $130. The switchcraft components are around $80. The guitar is only $800! With $530 worth of extras stock! That's $270 for the rest of the guitar. What a steal!
Great demo and shows there are some great guitars out there for a reasonable amount of money . I played a second hand MIN Standard Strat when they first came out and it was brilliant even through a tiny amp -went back to the store a few days later and it was sold . The Pacifica is great value but the matt finish neck puts me off -same with Ibanez . The new Player Strats are ok -the equivalent G and L Legacy have better pickups . A lot of choice and if as Darrel says if you are happy to look at second hand stuff you can really pick up some great guitars !
Omg LOVEDDDD that Gretsch! beautiful stunning design & i fell in love with that mellow tone! How much it costs Darrel? and my second fav it´s that blue Ibanez....sounds...KILLER!
Love your videos Darrell but I have a request.
Can you make videos of cheap guitars with cheap amplifiers? For obvious reasons.
Hello, how much $ is cheap for you ? I tried once a low price Harley Benton, say €180, but it was finally very expensive considering it can not play correctly. On the other hand the new MIM Fender Player Strat is very "cheap" considering that for €600 you have an excellent instrument on par with US made strat at $1500. Cheap or expensive also depends on your project, where to play ? Home, gig, concerts ?
Like boss katana?
@@gillesgenete9598 MIM Strats are great but... They are not equal to an American Standard Strat. I know this because first I have played many of each and second I have let other guitarists that play MIM Strats play my American standards and they have ALL told me that my Strats sound and play better. MIM Stratocasters are a fine choice but they are not on par with the American Made ones and they also cost more because in the end they lose their value. If you plan on playing at home or with friends MIM Strats are a GREAT choice. If you want to up you game spend the extra money. It is worth it.
That Epiphone LP he has is one of the best looking guitars I've ever seen. I'm more an Epi fan than ever.
Love all your vids Bro!!! You sold me on Xaviere guitars
Great vid as usual ,no biased comments or opinions, cool stuff ,hi from UK
Squier Bullet HSS is $199 and sounds great! One of my favorites!
Yes! My first guitar in 2017 and two years later I don’t regret it
Bullet strats are nice, but they dont beat the Pacificas. Considering I got my for less then 100 dollars.
Ibanez Art and Artist series. Excellent quality affordable price.
You do great work, nice!
Epiphone Les Paul Custom, me and my son each have one. I have a lefty Black Beauty 3 and he has a right handed alpine white. Bought his new off Ebay, so impressed bought mine used on ebay for $225, great guitars. Mine is still stock, son has upgraded pots and 57 classic plus bridge and pearly gates at neck. He has played Gibson Standards and prefers his Epiphone hands down.
I have a Korean epiphone les paul custom and it's so nice to play well built and with 498/490s sounds amazing too...so no Darrel it's no fluke your keep finding good epiphones
I too own an Epiphone Les Paul with the same pickup combo, I also own Gibson's with the same combo - NO difference in sound!! Huge difference in price! lol.
I’m normally a Fender and Squier guy, but the Epi Les Paul Florentine, has me gassing pretty hard....😉
@@artamussumatra6286 I've had my Florentine since I bought it new and it and my Epiphone Stratocaster are my two favorite guitars. If you get one, you'll love it, I guarantee it.
MIK Epiphone Les Paul's are one of the best values to be had.
@@brianlong7696 You're damn right! My '99 MIK LP Custom is one of the best freaking guitars I've ever played.
I find myself grabbing my Indonesian made G&L Asat and Legacy more than my high priced Fenders and Gibsons. Fantastic guitars.
Agreed! Those are great guitars and they use the same pickups as the US ones too!
Can also pick the G&L s used for a song.... American ones too, if ya search enough
@@dlewtweentorla1210 For a while, Musician's Friend was constantly running these on sale (new) for under $300. And you are right- used G&Ls are one of the best bargains out there, IMO.
I have an ASAT Classic that I bought SDOTD for $250! I also have a Legacy that I picked up used for $200. I use them both more than my fenders!
very hard to find in shops for a test in France😫
Hey! Great video! Would you mind sharing what amp and effects you were using? It sounded the same for all the guitars. Cheers!
Epiphone Dot. I got a used one, a real creampuff for about $300 at guitar center (yes I did), changed out the stock humbuckers for a pair of Seymour Duncans I got from a friend and VOILA'!
I mostly play clean and I gotta have some sustain and this one totally delivers. Not to worry. If I need to move some dirt this thing will snarl like an angry dog. I've got a PRS/SE custom 22 semi hollow, too and it just hangs on the wall. Great channel, thanks.
