This video helped me get my 460i to work. At 3:17 it tells you the unit will not operate unless the jumper is on the time pins. I read the manual 4 times and missed that bit of info but found it when I was looking for it.
could you please tell me how much the hardness and capacity should be set at with 4 person in the house? thanks Also, I do not understand every how many days the softner does the regeneration. thanks
The hardness number will be different for everyone you get that number by sending a water sample to a lab. The report will come back with your water hardness in grains per gallon you enter that number in the softener. The 460I controls are not based on the number of day since the last cycle. It counts the number of gallons used and will cycle the night before you will exceed the capacity of your resin. A very smart little computer.
What you need to do is get one Gallon of water and weigh it with a scale so you can find out how much it weighs. Since Hard water is heavier than regular water, that’s why they Call it hard. Do you want to take that weight measurement and compare it to what a gallon Of water is known to weigh 8 lbs. 6 oz. approximately. Compare what your water weighs to the figure above then subtract the two figures. And when you have that number report back here to the comments and you will be guided to the next course of action. This has been brought to you by the L for learning. Can you answer a question for me now? What way is more a pound of feathers or a pound of concrete? That doesn’t have anything to do with the hardness of your water just one of those brain teaser you know.
