    Those squirrel nuts, man. Reminds me of my old uncle Don who I hadn't seen in years at the time. We met up, hopped in the truck, and drove out back. We got to the field where the cattle were grazing, and after the bull had a good look at us, he turned and trotted away. It was an unbearably hot Texas midsummer afternoon, and that bull's balls were practically dragging. My uncle turned to look at me and said, "Boy, wouldn't you love to have nuts like that summabitch," followed by a good ol' boy "oooooooeeeeee!"
    He was one hell of a character, God bless him.

    Thanks to you and this video, my son and I are going squirrel hunting tomorrow. Then home to cook them exactly as you did. Perfect. Thank you, and again, great vid! We lost our good ice on the lakes this past week so this is a great idea!

    Awesome hunting and gonna try that recipe. Don't know where you are, but here in Maine I have to wait for late Sep-end of Dec to hunt greys. Reds are open all year and no limit tho.

    Of all the things people say taste like chicken, squirrels are by far the closest. It's like a cross between lamb and chicken, very unique, but very delicious. Squirrel dumplings is my favorite.

    Grew up chasing tree rats here in east Texas we do not have black squirrels with the exception of fox squirrel's (the red) pop's out black in a blue moon.
    No french fries or milk gravy, sacrilegious lol with white bread, i might need to try Frank's once but really need that grease for the gravy.
    Just asking but you hunting with steel shot jeez three shots per squirrel high dollar eating there my friend. Remington high brass no.6 was my go to, but are hard to find now. Also hunting with a shotgun when the leaves are gone makes you run and gun a lot more than sit and wait. I choose the .22 or mag for late season. Our bag limit is ten per day I normally have my limit before 9am and when hunting with the .22 I jerk the hide while in the woods place in Ziploc's with a wet towel in another Zip. They even taste better the faster you get the gibblets out.
    Good hunting. 😊

    • @swamptosoundadventures8337
      @swamptosoundadventures8337 16 днів тому

      Pine squirrel is just as good as fox and grey. People who tell you they taste piney are just assuming that because of their diet. They taste like a cross between a fox and grey, not as strong as fox but not quite as mild as a grey.
