Excellent video. Most people talk so fast and tell you to click on things fast so that you can’t keep up with them. Yours was clear and and easy to follow. Thanks!
Amazing information, I wasn’t sure about being charged, but since I was on airplane mode as well just to be safe (to avoid a surprising bill) will be using this feature when traveling!!! Thanks a million times!!!
This is likely because you may be required to provide an E911 address. Once that's updated, you should be able to enable the feature. www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/voip-and-911-service#:~:text=FCC%20E911%20rules,in%20most%20cases%2C%20location%20information.
WIFI CALLING is wonderful when do not want to use either carrier. How do we know when we are using WIFI calling? If the WIFI goes off, prefer not to make a call
I have wifi calling on I stay in Mexico rn and every time I’m on a call it’ll last a bit and get call failed like everytime should I turn it off because it gets annoying having to call back everytime will that help
I think what is missing is the most obvious question. I assume you then just make a call as you normally would? You don't have to do it through the carrier app, or anything like that?
I'm not certain. That's determined by the carrier. Probably not. If that's the case I would use an app like Signal, WhatsApp or FaceTime Audio if you need to make calls to others. Note: the person you're calling will need the same app installed and be registered.
If you are connected with wifi, there is a good chance you'll be able to call while out of the country. However, it might be easier and guaranteed to not get hit with out of country roaming charges if you use a service like Signal, WhatsApp, or FaceTime Audio. (But you should still watch your wifi data, because that's where those calls will be routed)
Generally, carriers don't charge more for wifi calling, as it eases up on the pressure of the cell towers. But know that if you've got a certain number of call minutes that's limited, it will likely still count against that. Best to check with your carrier.
Hello , I like to get a smartwatch for Emergency calls only with WiFi do I need to connect it to me iPhone XR ,I do not like to get a sin card , what is my best BUY, I,M very confused , what would work for me , I live in south Ontario Canada
So, if my iPhone doesn't have "wifi calling" option appear in settings at all, does that mean is not supported by my carrier? I see "allow calls on other devices" which seems to use wifi.. would that be a way? Thanks for your time
I have to turn off my AT&T cellular data to force Wifi calling, otherwise it won't work. And then turn cellular data back on when I leave this Wifi network, ie in my car. I could never get this to work without this critical step and no one ever mentions this. Good video otherwise, thanks.
I have AT&T and tried to get wifi calling. It took me to the 911 page and I entered my address and it tells me it’s not a valid address. What do I do now?
@@GeniusLounge I did speak with them and they straightened it out! I do want to thank you for the information that you gave on UA-cam! It was very informative!
Can I call someone in the USA while I'm abroad via WiFi calling and not incur international charges? Does the person I'm calling need to be using WiFi calling as well for it to work? Thank-you!
It really depends on how your carrier handles things. They wouldn’t need to be using Wi-Fi calling. But it would probably be easier to do something like using FaceTime audio or signal to make the calls. And it would be advisable to be connected to Wi-Fi, too, so that you don’t get hit with extra data charges.
At my residence T-Mobile signal are very weak, so I’m turning on WiFi calling to see if it works at my residence. Shall I keep WiFi calling turn on regardless of my location ?
Give visible a shot. they're owned by Verizon, and are super cheap ($25/month - Just be sure to join one of the party pay mega groups to get the extra $15 discount). If you sign up with my referral, your first month is $5. Check out this page: www.visible.com/get/V6G9F
WiFi calling is usually free with a paid cellular plan. It uses your wifi to make calls. If you're looking to make free calls without a cell plan, you might want to look into Google Voice.
It depends on the carrier. If you have a stronger connection with cellular, it won't use Wi-Fi calling. But also your phone will do a check to see if Wi-Fi calling will work before using it (even if you've got it toggled on)
No. If your service has been disconnected, you wouldn't be able to use WiFi calling. As long as you have WiFi, though, you could use FaceTime, FaceTime Audio, Google Duo, Skype, or a range of other VoIP (Voice Over IP) solutions.
You might need to check.your version of iOS, and make sure that your carrier supports it. Check this article to be sure: support.apple.com/en-us/HT203032
Nope. Those are completely separate things. WiFi Calling allows you to make phone calls over WiFi. The Drone may have WiFi that you need to connect to to be able to control it, but that has nothing to do with this feature.
Jump to 2 minutes if you just want to know how to do it.

Very informative and helpful explanation, the calls are Routed over WiFi rather than Cellular towers…
THANK YOU for explaining that it’ll automatically connect from wifi to cell tower if u leave ur home! Many Blessings! 🙏🏽
Why does it take me to a website and won’t turn on?
This is likely because you may be required to provide an E911 address. Once that's updated, you should be able to enable the feature.

So does wifi calling mean I can call long distance for free????
So wait. It’s called wifi-calling , but you don’t have to be actually connected to any wifi NETWORK? Idk am I slow ? Lol
You do need to be connected to WiFi. You don’t have to be connected to cell service.
If the person phone off and they WiFi can I call that person.

Will WiFi calling work if you've ran out of minutes on a pre-paid plan?
I'm not certain. That's determined by the carrier. Probably not. If that's the case I would use an app like Signal, WhatsApp or FaceTime Audio if you need to make calls to others. Note: the person you're calling will need the same app installed and be registered.

Can this wifi calling work when you travel out of the US?
Generally, yes, but it depends on the carrier.
Doesnt work overseas. I have turn the wifi calling on but still, I can not make any photo calls or receive text messages. Weird.
Is it free wifi calling
WiFi calling is usually free with a paid cellular plan. It uses your wifi to make calls. If you're looking to make free calls without a cell plan, you might want to look into Google Voice.
So if your payment plan is pay-as-you-go. Is there still a charge?
You still have to pay for service

What if cellular data is not working ?
For wifi calls, it doesn't matter if cellular isn't working. Your calls will go through the wifi connection.
What if your with Sasktel? Can you still get it?
thank you, easy to follow!
It says contact my carrier when I try to enable it
You may need to log in online to your phone account, and enable it. Or call the carrier to ask them to enable it.
Thank you
Nice piece of info.
Can I make wifi calls to friends abroad? Does the person I am wifi calling have to have this feature on, too?
Yes and no
How do I put a phone number in for wifi
You have to have a paid plan through a carrier to be able to use WiFi calling.
If I don't have service will it still work over wifi ??
As long as you're *paying* for service, yes.
As in: your hotel is in the middle of nowhere, so cell signal is poor, but they have wifi.
Thanks
Why does my Wi-Fi calling go off in the house sometimes?
It depends on the carrier. If you have a stronger connection with cellular, it won't use Wi-Fi calling. But also your phone will do a check to see if Wi-Fi calling will work before using it (even if you've got it toggled on)
So can I use it if my phone bill not paid or nah? Lol
No. If your service has been disconnected, you wouldn't be able to use WiFi calling. As long as you have WiFi, though, you could use FaceTime, FaceTime Audio, Google Duo, Skype, or a range of other VoIP (Voice Over IP) solutions.
Can we use wifi calling on 3g network or airplane mode
You can use WiFi Calling in Airplane mode, yes. But it is only available while connected to a WiFi network, not over cellular.
This didn’t work

Do you have to have Wi-Fi calling on to hook up to a drone so you can fly it and control it.
Nope. Those are completely separate things. WiFi Calling allows you to make phone calls over WiFi. The Drone may have WiFi that you need to connect to to be able to control it, but that has nothing to do with this feature.
