I was so impressed with the video that I just now ordered a BNC version for my 15 year old ICOM IC-V8 HT. I am so looking forward to putting this on my HT. 73’s. KB9JXU
Richard is one of the brightest, young men that was ever a member of the Explorer Post. We started making the antennas shortly after the Explorer post started in 1994. It was mostly for the post members at first but then we started selling them as Richard said to buy stuff for the post. He has shown all that the post was set up to do. We had 18 years of Teaching and spreading Amateur radio. We supported multiple BSA activities 2 of those activities that had 40k scouts the first time and close to 50K in 2000. I am very proud of Richard, his wife and their family. I am as proud of them as the rest of those young men and women that spent time in Explorer Post 1973. This all started when the local council asked me to set up the Explorer Post. We had in those 18 years well over 250 youth join to participate in activities. (the 2 large activities each had nearly 100 youth.) It was my privilege to be advisor to them for the entire time.
I ordered a signal stick sma female for my baofeng uv-9r as I talked about in chat during the stream, and it fits perfectly into the recessed connector without having to modify. Just thought I'd leave a comment to let folks know!
I have a couple of these, one for Baofengs and a second BNC for my Yaesu HT. They are annoyingly long, but EXTREMELY flexible and impossible to misshape unless you were to get like super aggressive or overly mean to these antennas. Frankly, these are likely the most forgiving design in that respect. These antennas are not toys either. You can expect to get VERY good results with a low end transceiver like the Baofeng with this antenna. These should be the #1 first accessory to a new HT in my opinion. BTW, my recent purchase of the BNC model and conversion connector for the Yaesu (SMA to BNC) looks like a factory connector and I love the quick disconnect ability. Bravo!
The first purchase for my ht was a signal stick. Thanks to both of you, I passed my tech and General Saturday and passed both with flying colors. Now I just have to wait for the FCC.
Found this interview by accident. loved it. Ordered 2 of these antenna's a short while ago and they are underway in Europe now. Like to use them on my Anytone's. Suppose they will do as good as the Comet SMA24 I used earlier. I expect these are easier to pack away next to the standard antennas.
All of my HT's: Step 1, order the radio Step 2, order a Signal Stick for it. Currently waiting for an Orange one to arrive for my new ID-52. In the meantime, took my Glow-In-The-Dark one off my FT3D.
@Ham Radio Crash Course While I've got you here, Just wanted to say thanks! I think you're the one that really Got me interested in ham radio in The 1st place. Came across your channel one idle day at work in 2018 and the rest is history. 73 - ke0saw
Interesting, have been using Ham Study. Ordered two radios, FT-65 & FT-70. Radios arrived yesterday, Chirped them & can not receive anything other than weather. Ordered two Signal Sticks, Red & Green M&F. I m, hoping they will help. I am surrounded by close mountains here in MT. Will be an interesting test. When I ordered the FT65 I did order a Diamond SRJ77 but still not good.
Does the signal stick antenna eliminate the need to SWR the antenna on a HT or should it be done anyhow anytime an antenna is upgraded no matter what manufacturer is used even its not an SS? Example, Yaesu manual says any upgraded antenna should be SWR to 1.5 or less.
I am not a HAM operator at least not yet been thinking about getting my HAM License that is if I can remember and retain the info. I am wondering what would be the best bugout Antenna for a GMRS Handhald radio besides the one that comes with the radio. Thank you
Let's see, I have the short Signal Stick for 70cm to use with the hotspot and ID-52, the 2m/70cm for out and about, one mounted to the Jeep and the J-Pole. Do I have a Signal Stuff problem?
Josh, you've got to tell your guests to turn off their blue background if they're going to be showing products. We couldn't see anything he was holding up! :/
This antana works fine on the magnet mount but not on an HT. Just because it is long and looks cool people think it is a good antena. I have tested it myself with poor results. Marketing is the only reason the antana is so popular.

I tried the 5% off code and it added 5%. Not kidding. Will try again later. This was a fantastic stream, thanks to you both.

Thanks for a great product and to HRCC for showing off his work!
Combo of the Stick and a UV-5R are perfect for carry on adv motorcycle outings. Tiny, packable, capable. Great, informative stream.

I kind of like how long they are
Makes worth dragging the HT along if you can get out. Scott KF0HRF
I'm so happy to have ordered from a small US family owned company ......
Me too, it is my everyday antenna and works great. Best radio buy I ever made.
Just bought 2 antennas mag mount bmc adapter and can't wait to try it out

Catch me runnin my signal stick edc. Easy in the cold seasons because I slap it in my inner jacket pockets. Fits surprisingly well.
This was great. Amazing story on these antennas
Whenever I get a new dual-band HT, the first accessory I get for it is a signal stick! My HT's feel naked without one!
Love my quarter and half wave signal stalks

I've got my 4th and 5th signal stick antennas coming via USPS as I write this comment. They are awesome antennas.
Now I have a use for those dead accoustic bass strings, and a project to keep me busy/out of trouble today.
All of my HT's:
Step 1, order the radio
Step 2, order a Signal Stick for it.

Love this vid!
Just purchased an antenna! Love to support small business!!
Same here!

Thats awesome man! Thanks for the kind words!
Just ordered my Super-elastic Signal Stick: SMA female, hope it's coming soon no shipping date on the receipt .

I ordered the SMA male green last night, site showed one in stock....lol
Anyone paired a counter poise, like the old Tiger Tails to these antennas ?
I believe you would see even more enhanced performance !
How is it, that essentially a bunch of kids came up with this antenna that actually seems to deliver, and Commercial manufacturers didn't ?
What signal stick do I order if my male Baofeng identifies as a female?
BNC and use an adapter.

You would be incorrect. I’ve done multiple tests on the signal stick against other ht antennas. It’s performed well.
to bad the sma female one is out of stock lol
I could torture test one to 1kw on 2m and 750 watts on 70cm LOL
Swr is definitely not the best indication of a good antenna. Dummy loads have a very low swr
Hope it wasn’t an ev
