A misty moment in time, hiking up along Man O' War Brook trail. We bathed in the granite bowl in icy cold water just down from its source. We sat toboggan 600 feet above Sommes Sound where a Herreshoff sailboat beat its way out to sea. Mr. Dobbs, you are a gift!
Excellent video. I'm a lifelong in lander of Maine (73 years worth) that thought he knew all about Maine. I got very informed this past hour. Thank you for the effort you put into this production.
Boston born I've visited Maine often, bar harbor in summer is beautiful, the rocky coast, clear, cold waters, we'd go swimming and they had the water temp posted in big #'s, 51° in August, now that will wake you up in a hurry.
originally from the north, I lived in the Deep South for many years where there was little if no change of season. I used to go to mount desert island to Leaf peep every year to get a taste of the change of season it was a lifesaver!
Excellent, professionally produced introduction to the many fascinating aspects of the Maine seacoast: gorgeous cinematography combined with insightful narration including spot-on historical, cultural, and natural insights.
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid lost my login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Raiden Maverick I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm trying it out atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
I have spent 2 summers in Maine many years ago and must confess fell in love with the terrain but was less in love with the population. New Englanders seem wary about others invading. After experiencing their magnificent territory, I can understand. If I had the privilege to chose a place to live, it would be north Maine. I would try to make residents into friends.
Steve Hinnenkamp basically you’re fine unless you get on one of the towns political boards and try changing the town to your liking or complain about your neighbors junk. We have tons of that where I’m from
I will be forever grateful to the town of Jonesport for welcoming me into their clutches and caring for me for those 4-5 days. The weather wasn't kind to me kayaking south.
It is a "small" State?? Lol..I live in a County in Maine bigger than Rhode Island and Connecticut combined lol. The coast is beautiful..but there's so much more than that..
I'm thinking of moving to Maine in about a year. I'll be moving with my daughter (30), her 2 sons (7, 9). I'm 69. Any thoughts? Prefer small quaint towns.

I'd move up to the land of Sec.of State Ed Muskie, but I'm just too much of a NYer to become a permanent resident of New England. However?... If I COULD afford a second home? It'd be on the rocky, wild Atlantic Ocean coast if Maine. Maybe one day yet? We'll see.
HOW TRUE IS THIS? Maine it's a beautiful state, the coast all the way from Nova Scotia to Maine it's wild, different, and gorgeous, with all the wild geographic and weather conditions. The reason or reasons that I'm going to all this ordeal, is simply because of a movie that was located in the West coast, actually may happened in Maine coast, and I'm wondering if actually that it's any true on this breve description. How many of you saw a simple movie, that actually turn in a great story, and possible a piece of real history, question is where exactly happened, West or actually East coast? Rumors tha the 1980 "The Fog", a movie 🎬 realized by american filmmaker John Carpenter it seems like the original action or shipwreck as referral, it happened in the coast of Maine, anywhere between Nova Scotia and Maine. This coast line is well known for intense fogs, the boat coming from an European country that there's no record what so ever, approached the coast line in a terrible fog night, but the difference that was no knowledge about this incoming vessel, or no knowledge about gold, or black plague, most possible a boat full of immigrants running away from nothing good, in hope of better life. It's true that the first Europeans or white people to approached the North East coast was the Vikings, many art facts founded along this coast locations, also it's known that most likely the second white folks to reach East coast was actually portuguese vessels, and this is before Columbus stepped foot on American land, that was a portuguese monument pattern of discoveries with inscriptions which had the Portuguese coat of arms and year in front of Rhode Island, unfortunately was removed and thrown to the bottom of the ocean by second interests that possibly came from its Spanish neighbors, to not created conflicts, and not to loose the fame and glory. But the point of this is that for a long time many boats arrived from European soil, and many unknown. True or not, some how from the middle of the dark fog, they spotted a small inland fire, but without any bad intentions like The Fog movie story portrays, the crash on the rocks was inevitable. Most likely someone saw something, but probably never proper reported, with an aggressive ocean and extremely cold waters, the chances for survival would be close to zero. But people talks, and real or fake stories they go from mouth to mouth, ask yourself how many humans they crossed from the East coast to the West coast, and vice versa, there's a large possibility that the story travel to West like so many immigrants did, if something really happened, most possible it will be forever in the bottom of the ocean like so many missing vessels.
Its probably best kept as a vacation place. I am sure the people that are from there are very hush hush and very hard to get to know. It’s like that in places that have such low populations. Very clannish, and mean to those they really do not know. The best people you will meet are probably not from Maine, just like you. Not their fault, they really do not realize they are like that, it just happens. Besides it too cold for year round living if you are not from there.
It would be better if refugees from MA,NY,CT and RI would respect the culture and keep their left wing politics where they escaped from. They are altering it too much,
The description says Maine is where America began. Actually, America began with the massacre of the native people and stealing of their ancestral land. The narrator even uses the disrespectful term "indians".
Horrible music detracts from this film. Also, why the emphasis in the beginning to evolution? Not everyone is a member of that religion. Otherwise, beautifully filmed.
West Quoddy Head is where I started my solo kayak trip to Key West Florida in 2017 for Mission22. Raising awareness about veteran suicide.
Thank you for your service, sir ❤
I remember as a kid my dad used to take us to the coast of Maine to dig clams. Ohh, the good old Days.

We haven't forgot the water we came from due to the fact we're +/- 97% water.
Why do we feel everything must be set to music? It's distracting.
need a great barber in Maine? I'll move in a heartbeat
i use to have penfriend from maine , lady called lee, thats was in 1980s
I just wish the music was lowered for the hard of hearing

Must have been pre North Atlantic Cod fisheries collapse.

A bit melodramatic at the beginning...especially for those of us who know "from whence we came".
#lobsterlabmedia
Too bad it’s a blue state. 😞
I hope I find something more upbeat, this film is like the ones from high school that everyone falls asleep to because the narrator is really boring.
this movie would interest you if it had dubstep in the background and you taking selfies every four seconds
Ugh no thanks lol
Do people even listen to dubstep in Maine??
Yup I stopped at 3 minutes
