What a fucking genius. The world is a much better place for having Neil Hannon in it.
I was fortunate enough to see the Divine Comedy perform in Madrid just last week. The first words Neil Hannon said were "te amo España", he's nothing if not consistent!
What makes this genius is that as well as being funny, and clever, and witty, dropping cultural references aplenty, then it has the beautiful wistful final verse about what will happen one day when this (the Coronavirus lockdown for people reading in the future) is over... the dream of being able to travel again, as we currently can’t.
I hope he won!!! Thanks from a Spaniard. So sweet. You master mockering with love, tenderness and style. Next time I will throw Pimientos the Padrón onto the stage.

I'm really fed up with treses tupí al stereotypes about Spain. Spain is much more than flamenco and paella.....I' m gonna try to watch it again from a humorous point of view......
I watched the clip again, as i said above, and actual ley i could understand it contained all the stereotypes it could have had. What annoyes me is the fact that for tourists Spain is flamenco, toros and paella(they represent the south of the country) and there are too many more different traditional things in Spain than flamenco....people aré missing the beauty and culture from the north of Spain.This is what II really meant with my comment. Of course the clip is really well done.

American bands could not do this kind of thing because they have no sense of irony or humour.I do not understand how pavement or magnetic fields get more views than the divine comedy and never will.

As a fan of Divine Comedy I find this song quite disappointing. It is full of steorotypes. Spain is more than Andalucía, Mediterranean coast, flamenco and paella. It is much more diverse than that.
