*Happy Thursday, everyone! Hope you're all having a great week! I found some fun, weird, and demented trading card games to show in this episode. Have you heard of any of them?* 😅
Alec funny as always in this. However, just so he knows, the XFL merged with the USFL and they are entering their 2nd season of spring football play this year. So not "long gone" at all. I know how much Alec loves his sports. 🤣
You forgot to mention one of the biggest issues about the Marvel Secret Lair queue subject: There were exploits to bypass the virtual queue and even access the Secret Lair early and it would push back people who were legitimately waiting in queue on top of the bots.
YOO!! The Bible Battles thing reminded me of another Bible themed game I heard about called Redemption TCG. LukeVonKarma and PeepsYGO actually talked about it a few times on stream and they discovered that it still has an active player base and they host tournaments at churches and in people’s homes! If I’m remembering correctly, they actually had their national championship tournament this past August. You guys should definitely look into it, the mechanics of the game are pretty wild. And they even have prize cards whose art, dare I say, rivals that of Yugioh’s.
I really liked the card game trivia section. I'd probably be mostly interested in the SimCity card game, I like it when games experiment with the default assumptions of the genre (like that the players are in some sort of combat situation). Though the Most Wanted thing didn't really feel like it fit, like it's really dark, isn't an actual game, wasn't released for the general public and wasn't collectible since everyone got a full set. About the rules change: One thing I thought about changing is to make the player going second start with 6 cards but also not draw on their first turn. Though going second feels a bit stronger than when I first thought about it, so maybe it isn't needed anymore.
Talk about a blast from the past. When you all started talking about those Pac-Man cards, I had the biggest smile on my face. I remember those as a kid and I loved doing those scratch offs. My mom would allow me to get a pack if I had been good that week and I couldn't wait to get home to open it up. Now I wish I had kept some of them.
I'm watching through The Sopranos right now and there was a scene at the end of Season 2 where the characters talked about stealing Pokémon cards. And that came out 24 years ago. It'll never stop!
You guys are the only Yu-Gi-Oh related videos I watch, ironically, because I had my own criticisms about the way konami is doing things.. Specifically master duel, but things are slowly improving, so that's promising.
The SimCity game sounds similar to Machi Koro, a board game where you purchase properties which can generate resources and victory points based on dice rolls. Thanks for the episode!
Bible Battles is like a weirdly unbalanced version of mtg. It's incredibly hard to make a comeback after losing resources in the early game, while your opponent quickly snowballs out of control.
I got back into yugioh two years ago through the battle city box and learned some mechanics i didnt know 20 years ago when i last played, so you're not wrong about speed duel being a useful tool to get back in
Fun fact there is an old school TCG called redemption that was basically bible battle. I really liked it a lot because it was a yugioh/magic hybrid. The mechanics were a no health system you won by rescuing lost souls which had to be drawn from the deck. The best part is that most of the cards acted like equip cards and there was no hand limmit so throwing cards as fast as you could to shutdown your opponent was the majority of battle. It’s still around but you can’t get packs for it since it doesn’t have new sets anymore and you can only get reprints.
Love those overviews.. even though i didnt play yu gi oh since ages... I believe around 2004 i sold/ gave away my last cards.. but i like the developement especially the reprint policy.. really tier 2 decks seem to be 50$ or less and it feels like they arent completely without chances.. wich i kind of like, also that some of the OG cards still have influence is nice to see too... you know.. not all of them are trash now after about 20 years or so. Also i only see tournament Yu Gi Players-- is like kitchen table/ playground yu gi not a thing or is it just more hidden?
REALLY love you guys i'v een following you for a long time nown i started playing yugioh during the thunder dragon and skystriker meta game. i dont play anymore but your content as always remains PEAK thank you very much as always
I was big into it but stopped playing in 04 or 05. I thought about getting back into it but it looks overwhelming. The mechanics have changed dramatically. I have no clue what tuner or xyz cards are.
"Assistant Fire Chief stole Pokemon cards from Target" Me: "Why would you do that, that's so dumb" "A single pack of Pokemon cards at Target is $9.99" Me, suddenly holding a lawyer briefcase: "YOUR HONOR, MY CLIENT IS INNOCENT ON THE GROUNDS THAT THOSE PRICES ARE BULLSHIT"
Spoke too soon. XD I love me some Ancient Gears. Their flavor is so cool… but the ‘discount Tenpai’ aspect of them s probably why I feel so dirty even playing the cards I like. -_-
I'm pretty sure the most wanted playing cards were sold everywhere. I remember having a deck back then and didnt understand the significance of why these dudes were one the cards.
My buddy and I split an ETB of Surging Sparks ($77 each) we both opened 18 packs each and got no hits…2 hours later I went to GameStop and grabbed 2 single packs and pulled the Pikachu EX on the second pack 😂
I think centurion is my most hated type. Because everyone runs it in any deck they want and it always does the same thing and much like the TP dragons, one card ends up with a synchro and another in spell/trap it feels like. With all their cards protected.
Great Pod! I highly doubt you will provide us with Sims City TCG or Bible Battles gameplay, buuuuuttttt here I am planting the seed of inspiration. Lol
I can't agree with your take on them being UR's. If you could craft them, or if these sets couldn't result in you getting 1-0 UR's in 10 packs, and didn't have filler UR's/UR's from outside the set. You'd have a point.
Play with some house rules pure archtype decks are fun a lot, hard the set up, but it is pretty cool, for me is the best yugioh to be fair hahah i play vampire pure deck and my friend play pure ninja, we permit some staples and week hantraps sometimes, and it goes somooth as hell, pretty fun, reccomend to you all
So I'll leave an actual comment as well. But for a weird new TCG "Console Wars" where you build decks from every console and their biggest games as their "monsters" with things like hype can be support cards. Possibly something like magazine reviews to hurt your opponent. Just a quick idea
That actually sounds FUN! Literally fighting for positive reviews and games sales. Maybe there's controversy cards like a Red Ring of Death or PSN Outage lol
The Even More News podcast does the "the first and only news podcast, we checked, didnt find any other news podcasts" bit. Lol while u guys r doing a ygo version, it feels *reeeeaaal* similar lol
I opened a Bonanza Box for 95€ and got like 50€ of value out of it. 1 SR Little Knight was the most valuable card I got... Definitely won't buy anothe one...
Oh, god… that thumbnail.. That Pikachu has been popping up on the Reddit feed a lot under r/Pokeinvesting. Nothing more cringeworthy than that subreddit. Had to mute that subreddit in the end. As a long time equities, precious metals and crypto investor and someone who recently started my real estate investment journey, seeing people hoard pieces of cardboard and large boxes with no real world tech or utility hoping to make life changing wealth is absolute cringe. Also hate seeing the “how’d I do” self validation posts.

We are all about to drop Yugioh when Bible Battles comes out!
LET'S GOOOOOO.
Feel like they'll have to make Jesus OP.
@@michaelhomes8049 +Grave recursion.
My grandpas deck has no pathetic cards Kaiba but it does contain the unstoppable Jesus Christ !!
I'm still not sure if I want to play Moses OTK or Judas Turbo
Great to be back into Yugioh. You guys got me back into the trading card game. Very looking forward to more boxes to release in 2024-2025

Didn't have them but saw them. Memories.
looked like a fun game plus a sticker and some gum? not bad

😂 wait for real? That's hilarious

Please add timestamps to podcasts!! I would watch more if I could easily skip topics I’m not interested in rather than spam the skip 10s button
They normally add the timestamps a few hours after premier
Then there’s me who just watches the whole video because I enjoy the vibe these two fellas bring.
Still waiting for them as well
Yes because hitting the 10s button is so difficult.
@@superbadisfunny This, but unironically.

the timing of the Shadow Duelist tourney was weird. I was wondering where the livestream was for day 2

Is it possible to get timestamps for topics? If not, understandable.
Another great pod! I loved the Tcg trivia game, I’d play the sim city game cause it sounds funny
Yeah! I'd play that Sim City game for sure
"i counter with FEMA !" 😂😂
What’d be weird is if in the future we get card text that states special summon blank monster from the side deck.
I was big into it but stopped playing in 04 or 05. I thought about getting back into it but it looks overwhelming. The mechanics have changed dramatically. I have no clue what tuner or xyz cards are.

#1 is Tenpai Dragon. Shocker.
I’ve always wanted to just play without opponent interactions regardless of whose turn it is.
Spoke too soon. XD I love me some Ancient Gears. Their flavor is so cool… but the ‘discount Tenpai’ aspect of them s probably why I feel so dirty even playing the cards I like. -_-
Paul should sign up for Shadow Duelist. Would be hell of a flex.
1:12:33 Holy war ! that's insane lolol
I'm pretty sure the most wanted playing cards were sold everywhere. I remember having a deck back then and didnt understand the significance of why these dudes were one the cards.
I'd love a seal of Orichalcos upgrade like the anime where we get even more zones it'd be so cool I'd make it so you have to sack the original seal.
Assistant to the fire chief
15:01 just wait until we get monsters in the field spell zone
No one:
No one at all:
Alec: Just wait till monsters can attack from the grave and banishment
Konami: WRITE THAT DOWN. WRITE THAT DOWN 😂

My issue is the Synchro that lets them cheat out any Synchro they want.
Great Pod!

i would play a power puff card game lol sounds fun
Paul's sweater works super well with his skin tone, just needed to be said

Though I like the quality of life stuff in Master Duel, being able to check your deck for copies of cards before you use effects is a bit too far.
