    Great job on this lovely pond. The customer was nice and what a testament how easy it is to look after an ecosystem pond. It’s amazing how much the irises grew they must be very happy in there too! I remember the videos!

      I was like wow when I came around the corner to see the pond. You can see the start of them blocking the skimmer in the video from 2019

      Yes crazy fast, but just goes to show how fast they can grow without any limit on food.

    Dear sir,l would appreciate any help.My eazypod auto has developed a fault.After filter has washed the media,it dishcharges back into the pond? I have removed the dish charge pipe next to the auto waste valve nothing coming out.l have been advised to check for blockage in drum,by putting hand into drum? Sorry to here about your experience, we don’t install or recommend these filters, great for biological activity but so hard to hide, most people I know have a filter house to keep these. You might have to drain the pond down if you don’t have a gate value, I presume it’s not pump fed

      Quickest fast growing watercress (right out the bag) protect from fish with floating baskets or old floating media

    How do you get on with your Oase Pondvac? Mine keeps smoking every now and then...... wish I'd sent it back when it first did it but too late now.

      The smoke is mist (water vapor), well I have found that. Yes we burn the vacs up but we use them daily. Lot of the time it’s super easy to drop the pondo Vac 5 in installed of a sump pump on a hose.

    Hi, whats the best way to clean out the slug out the bottom of my pond and save all are most of the wiled life in it. And do you know if my fish will be able to sleep and not be desturbed, if the pump is to powaful for the pond.

    • @ThePondAdvisor
      @ThePondAdvisor  3 роки тому +1

      Yes the fish will find a quite area out of the main flow. Really depends on the fish most pond fish live in low land rivers. Fast streams like trout streams and not suitable for pond fish but if you have a pond you will have slower areas

      If you have sludge in the pond, you have the pump in the base, use a pan net to remove the waste. If you have a proper mechanical filter like a skimmer on the side of the pond, use return jets at the lower level, I would always recommend return jets in ponds over 3’ deep

      It might make your water murky for a few days but we use a simple garden brush to brush the bottom and most of it gets sucked into the pump we then clean the filters after a few days when the water clears up, although I guess that's just as bad as using a pond vac you will still suck up some good critters that live on the bottom of the pond unless you're vegan I wouldn't worry too much the fish eat the critters too and fish food is actually made with fish unless you get a vegan fish food ! Ps a pond vac creates less mess but if you have loose rock or gravel on the bottom of your pond it might get sucked up and damage the pond vac !

    • @ThePondAdvisor
      @ThePondAdvisor  3 роки тому +1

      @@oliverskinner8962 most Vac’s come with gravel attachments, so the waste will be sucked from above, but with the right pond design, skimmer box and biofall the waste in the pond is not much. Brushing the rocks (carefull bare liner use a soft brush for liner) is good, but once you have the bio film growing you will not need to brush them. Really depends on the system, skimmer on side or pump in the base.

      @@ThePondAdvisor we have bare liner Firestone rubber we have a vac but also use a soft brush as we have a rotary drum filter so no need to worry about cleaning and a brush is so much quicker ! We wish we fitted a bottom drain to are 10,000 liter pond as it's running gravity from a side drain we also have a small very shallow pond or (veggie filter) at the top of are waterfall about 8 ft by 3 ft full of yellow irises and I mean full of them and they're all just as big as that one was ! Very beautiful plants that love to soak up nitrates as we don't like the noise a bakki shower makes we much prefer are fluidised beds of k1 and helx13. But I'd love to build a small pond like this one to separate are goldfish from the koi and orfe !

    The pond owner might want to consider finding a new home for some of the fish they're getting bigger and this will eventually tip the balance of the ecosystem. I love the pond ! but would only keep goldfish in it myself. It looks very easy to maintain and easy to hide the filtration unlike a Nexus 320.

      The fish have not grown, they are old fish 18 years old now, most of the growth happens in the first five years.
