The reason why the fire acted like a liquid is bc the only part of the flammable liquid that can burn is the part directly in contact with an oxidiser. In this case the oxidiser is oxygen. If the flammable liquid burns slowly enough, there could still be parts of it that aren’t in contact with the oxygen yet so when the dude swiped at it, more of the liquid got exposed to oxygen and the high temperatures of the pre existing fire creating a new one. Bc of surface tension, the fire stuck to his hands.
