    Very happy with this product. I have been using it for live acoustic piano performances with vocals for more than 2 years. If full stereo sound is important to you, especially for keyboard players, I would recommend getting the second unit and pair it in stereo mode. Now also DXL 1K as an add-on unit is available for this purpose. Playing mono sound sources such as guitars and vocals, and playing audio tracks, it does its job with an amazing sound quality. Feedback from the audience has been very positive, too.

    Buy this system. For now, it is the best for the money. Since Yamaha bought Line 6, they are going to develop killer stuff and apps. It shows with the K1. Also, get the dolly. Very well designed and a must to have. One knob haters, try it before bashing. They work really well.
    The smaller drivers are perfect for horizontal coverage and reflection rejection off ceilings. The only trade off is a slight lack of mids (clarity to some of you). Other companies using larger drivers have to angle the drivers to make up for the lack of dispersion. Problem with that is sound is bouncing up and down all over the room. Look at Bose and Yamaha's explanation of sound dispersion. My tip to fix the K1's midrange (clarity) issue is to set the Mode to Club, Set the individual channel EQ to full left and then adjust slowly to get the bass you want. You will find that the sound will travel farther at low volumes and the midrange definition is much better.

      After signing it's praises, mine died after 3 uses in 90 days. Yamaha will only take back the amp inside to repair. Average person is not allowed to take the whole unit apart. Service centers near me do not have parts for repair so I have to wait and wait. So, backend service is very poor in case of warranty repair.

    I purchased this and used it already. I'm very impressed. Had Drum backing track into bluetooth, the Yamaha apps is great, i can line up all the tracks in there. Bass with Helix Stomp, Guitar with Helix LT and Vocals. Sounded Great. Powerfull, took little room and set right behind us. The one knob EQ works great, the on board effects are really good. It took us 10 minutes to set up. The bass response is amazing. Tight low bass, no distortion. Power is great for a small venue, 50-100 people. Replaced a large EV system with 15 inch sub and two 15 inch monitors, plus a yamaha mixer and tons of cables. For more options I would recommend a Vocal pedal, but it did the job for what we needed. Still amazed at the clarity, no feedback! I'm an EV fan and tested with the Evolve 50. The Evolve is louder but overkill for what we do and it does not have the mixer and effects.

      Ceci Shaw ey brother you think if you push it lil more this yamaha 1k can handle 150 people because i saw some comments around here and says that can handle 500 pps i thinks its too much i just want to know your oppinion thanks

    • @CeciShaw

      Yeah no way 500. You need two of them for that size. a lot of these places are not perfect rooms, they have weird angles and furniture and all kinds of things that change sound reflection. I think one will for 150 people pushed with the bass rolled in the middle. I can tell you it can do 100 easily. That’s with bass, guitar, vocals and backing track.

    I tested this at Sam Ash yesterday and it sounded awesome. I have an ev 15 sub and two 15 on stands and it takes forever to set up, plus the weight. And I never use all that power. The Yamaha sounded great, loud and very very clear. The added pa is a big plus also. I would play this all the time.

    I have one of this Stagepas 1K. It sounds great and easy to setup. If you are are more advanced and want better EQ (PEQ) and Fx I suggest to go for a external Mixer and you have more control over the sound. I was also impressed with how good the built-in bluetooth sounded.

    • @janneling9490
      @janneling9490 5 років тому +4

      Have tried it live at a smaller restaurant with acoustic guitar, keyboard / piano and song microphones. Guitar and Keyboard/piano worked great with 1 knot equalizer, but microphone became a bit bass even though I had pulled the bass down max. The clarity of the sound became much better by using an external digital mixer in my case an XR18 where you can set the exact sound image with effects, parametric eq and compressor on the song. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with the speaker itself. I'm happy with the purchase anyway and especially when it came with a flexible bag to carry it with.

    • @scottbecker3485

      Jan Lingefors Much appreciate hearing your remarks as a user in settings similar to mine. Looks like the internal mixer probably wouldn‘t serve my needs so well, either, since I‘m kinda spoiled by my RCF M18 (with compression and all the goodies). Would have loved for the 1K to replace that mixer...if it only had a couple more channels (like the Evolve 30 does, for example), plus a proper channel EQ and a few more effects...

    Should I need to replace the 1000W 15" Mackie Thump speaker, the Behringer B207 monitor and the Mackie 8-channel mixer I actually combine for my PA needs, the Yamaha Stagepass 1K is the system I'm going to buy. I sing and play a Yamaha E453 keyboard with automatic rythms, and also use a drum machine for those rythms not available in the keyboard, to perform as a one-man-band in Puerto Rico, so my repertoire includes a lot of tropical dancing music that require the booming power this system promises. All the other array systems in the market appear to concentrate in the needs of people who play guitar while ignoring those possible clients who, like me, use other instruments. This one also provides more channels in the mixer than the other systems which offer just one or two channels. Looks great, hope it sounds as well !!!
    Blessings from San Juan PR !!!

    Is it more powerful than Stagepas 600? I have been using Stagepas 600BT for last 5yrs and it's really good. It also has 4 inputs for XLR cables. 600 is good enough for mid size hall with capacity of 70-100 people. It also has two speakers.
    Is 1k better than 600? Does it has more louder and clearer sound than 600? Can it cover double the size of area than 600? Can it work on open grounds too?

      Most units with tone control are cut and boost levels. Very few have active control. Cost more to do. Look at the controls on the K1. You start with bass cut with mid and high, then add bass with mid and high, then to the far right, high and bass with mid cut. Go try a K1. It really makes sense.

    I guess I would expect some difference wattage between the subwoofer and the pole speakers, but 190 vs 810 seems a bit extreme. (For instance, the EV Evolve splits their wattage evenly at 500 for both the woofer and the pole.) That said, I would like to hear this versus the EV Evolve.

    • @snowvalleyrat
      @snowvalleyrat 4 роки тому +2

      Hey Jeremy.
      I could be wrong, but from what I've learned, wattage ratings are almost always unreliable ways to compare speakers. The Max SPL rating seems to hold up better for comparing without personally hearing them.
      My old cheap behringer top cabs were rated at 550 watts, and they acheived the same volume levels as my friend's 1,000 watt EV ZLX12ps, (Though the EV beats the behringer for sound quality) I don't even know how they get these crazy wattage ratings nowadays, it seems like blatant false advertisement to me. you'll notice every new speaker that comes out will say at least 1,000 watts when 5 years ago, they were all 500 or less. but if you listen, they barely get any louder (if at all) than the previous generation.
      QSC advertises their KLA Series as 1,000 watts per module, but claim you can run 5 modues on a 15AMP 110V household circuit. A 15A 110V circuit can only handle 1,800 Watts. So if these speakers were ever drawing even half the power they claim to have, theyd be tripping breakers and peole would be complaining to QSC. I used a watt meter and cranked a "1,100 Watt" DXR8 All the way until the limiter was lit solid, and I never saw the meter exceed 150 Watts.
      I think they put oversized amplifiers in these speakers that are set to never actually put that much power out to the drivers. Just so they can say their speakers are "1,000 watts" Honestly nobody would ever want two 1,000 watt speakers anyways, unless they were LOUD, because you couldn't even run two of them on a standard 15A 110V household circuit.
      It depends on what kind of muic you do, If you're doing Acoustic coffeeshop style gigs, this new Yamaha system would probaby be great. But anything else, and I would hold out for Yamaha's bigger line array column, (If they ever make one) . If the max DB measuring was done similarily to EV, I don't think this will hold up to the evolve in terms of volume, perhaps sound quality, but not volume. The EV Evolve (Which I own, and HIGHLY recommend) peaks at 127DB If I recall correctly. They say adding 10DB about doubles the volume, and the Yamaha is rated 8DB lower at.119DB. Even the Evolves are barely able to handle a decent sized gig. I mainly DJ weddings, where high volume isn't particularily sought after (because old people complain if it's too loud.), so they're good for me, but I almost always have my EVOLVE systems on the edge of limiting.

    • @scottbecker3485

      Frank Pirolo Sounds like a very valid take on companies‘ propensity for playing the mega-numbers game. If sex sells, so do big numbers, eh? Good on you to remind us that we should concentrate less on the stats than on the actual sound and loudness. As for your Evolves, I presume you mean the 50? I‘m interested in the 30m (with the nice built-in mixer and app control), and wonder how they might sound in comparison with the Stagepas 1K, for solo and duo acoustic gigs employing a bass as well as a BeatBuddy or stompbox for some deep-bass sounds, too.

      @@scottbecker3485 So actually I went with the Evolve 30m after trying the Jmix8. I didn't like the lack of control with the Stagepass, limited EQ etc.
      The Jmix8 was for me the better sounding system, with an overwhelming bass but it could be controled. It was noisier thought and that could be bothersome for smaller gigs. It was too big for me though and the Evolve hit my sweet spot with a great natural sound, small and light enough, many inputs, a great mixer with enough features to be used alone which is the purpose of such a system. And it looks sleeker than the Jmix8.

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  Рік тому

      Hello, Casey! The idea with these types of systems is that they can replace a traditional PA setup. So, yes, in a way it can replace two speakers, but it kinda depends on what size speakers you’re comparing it to. My favorite application for these column speaker setups is coffee house type gigs with one or two acoustic guitars, and vocals, plus maybe a keyboard at most.

As for the dimensions of the venue, it could be probably about 200ft X 120ft or any size venue which can accomodate 100 banquet tables of 10 pax each. Also it is meant for a wedding reception or church worship concert. For the band it is a standard 5 piece setup with a mic’d in drumset, bass, 2 electric guitars, 1 keyboard with additional 6 vocal mics going into a 16 channel mixer and then to the stagepass 1k. As for how loud the volume needs to be I think it should be loud enough for about 1000 people to hear.

      Hey, Jason. Great Question! The STAGEPAS 1K can in fact be ran with or without the risers in. They allow you to adjust the height based on your need and if you are are not elevated when playing. They also design the bottom few speakers of the array to slightly curve down to move the coverage up closer to the performer and so that the front rows have better coverage, as well. WARNING.... DO NOT BUY FOR RELIABILITY. IF THE UNIT DIES, GETTING REPAIRS IS HARD AND TIME CONSUMING. iF YOU BUY FROM SWEETWATER, THEY WILL PROMPTLY REPLACE WITHIN THEIR TIME POLICY. OTHER RETAILERS WILL IN 30 TO 45 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE. AFTER THAT, YOU ARE DEAD. YAMAHA WILL ONLY TAKE BACK THE AMPLIFIER SECTION TO REPAIR, NOT THE WHOLE UNIT. THEIR "REPAIR CENTERS" DO NOT HAVE PARTS ON HAND, SO YOU HAVE TO WAIT A LONG TIME. I have had this problem with power supplies in Yamaha products before, and it seems nothing has changed. After 3 uses in low volume at home testing, my unit died with a burnt transformer smell. You may get a long lasting unit, but some of you will not. Replacement parts are just too hard or take too long to get. As I stated, buy this system, but you must have a backup.
