    Yup... Upper Big Chief is no joke! Some serious chunk in there, dedicated lines, etc. Great fun to ride and just at my limit of what I like tech-wise. Lower Big Chief was a bit underwhelming to me though.... Pretty much that rock roll and bridge are the best spots/features for lower section in my mind. Once you hit Sawtooth, I think Robert (B1KER B1) had it right with going to the right and hitting the Happy Trail and Moto and then coming out on the opposite side of the Sawtooth parking lot from where Sawtooth trail drops you. Still need to do it that way myself.

    Never been to northstar bike park. Was planning to hit it up with some buddys after Rose to Toads but dislocated my left shoulder and fractured right wrist in a road bike accident the next week. Haven’t been riding since... couple more weeks and I hopefully will be able to get out on some trails before the snow falls. Thanks for the videos.

    Interesting to hear your take on Northstar. I live in Santa Cruz and my friends and i go to ride Northstar at least a few times a year, sometimes take part in their many downhill race events too. Heck, even EWS went through GnarStar this year.
    It’s a great place to develop skills for new riders and advanced riders alike. Good jump trail “Live Wire”, and some of the loosest, gnarliest double black technical trails you’ll find. Even some more easy green level trails for beginners. It’s definitely no Whistler, but I’m very thankful to have a quality lift access park in the Sierras. Might be worth you giving it another shot next year! ✌🏼

    Golden is such a good spot if you are ever in Truckee. If you like thai food there’s a really great spot super close to 50-50. Tacos Jalisco’s is a super good Mexican restaurant across the street from golden. If your looking for trails you should check out Jackass, it goes by fast but you can ride it multiple times and it’s super fun.

    That's so funny what you said about not wanting to be on Sawtooth. I'm pretty sure I have the same thing on camera. Big Chief is so much fun and then Sawtooth is just so vanilla compared to it. I've climbed up Powerline after BC and descended to the Sawtooth parking lot on Happy Face it was better, but honestly I think if you just dropped the car at the bottom of Big Chief it would be best. Take the time you save to go do a lap or two on Jackass instead. :) Was fun to see your perspective.

    Hey I have a question about my mountain bike. I know all about tightening the headset by using the top cap before tightening with the pinch bolts, and I have done that. I’ve took my old stem off and put it back on before without problem. I got a new stem and took it to my local rei to have it “ tightened to spec “ which they said should be no more then 4nm. Well it moved on me while riding causing me to wreck. They said there is nothing they can do to it and I took it hone and I tightened it some more and now it don’t move unless you use a lot of force pulling and pushing side to side with the wheel in between you’re leg, my girlfriends bike does the same thing. There’s no way they both have the exact same thing wrong with them, should they have some give to them and move side to side with enough force or is this something to worry about?

    • @smartcookie1013
      @smartcookie1013 5 років тому

      I would check to see if your topcap is acctiowaly pressing on your stem/Top spacer because if it's not you might not be getting good compression.

    • @nickrickman3965
      @nickrickman3965 5 років тому

      SmartCookie 101 it is, are you able to twist the stem on you’re bike with you’re hands? It’s kinda really hard to do so with my bike but it can be done.

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  5 років тому +1

      For me personally, it seems like torquing those bolts to spec is not enough. I have to make them tighter to keep my handlebars from moving, just as you mentioned.

    • @nickrickman3965
      @nickrickman3965 5 років тому

      BKXC should you be able to put the front wheel in between you’re legs and pull “ very “ hard on tv e handle bars still causing them stem to rotate around the steerer tube in the slightest bit? I know you don’t want it to move but it takes so much force to do so it’s quite hard. Whenever I ride they do not move what so ever. Even on rough trails.

A couple weeks ago I went on an 80 mile ride in 28mph winds, and afterwards I was so sore that couldn't bend over to reach the food I needed on the bottom shelf of the fridge. For five seconds I thought, "A SO would come in handy right now." Then I ordered a pizza. 😊

    Big Chief isn’t the best. Go do Painted Rock to OTB to Western States! Let me know and I’ll take you up there in North Lake

      OTB is amazing! Combine it with Painted Rock TRT, Missing Link, Western States and Watson Peak, and you have some of the best riding in North Tahoe.

      I need more info than that, any Strava / Trailforks routes?
