Buddy, you can already emulate everything up to PS3 on a PC and even on Steam Deck. Emulating PS4 or probably even PS5 is not a matter of years, it will probably be a matter of months, since PS4 emulators are already being implemented...😉
Friendly Tip : DO NOT buy the white version Odin 2. The plastic quality is bad and absorbs everything that it touches that is a different color. Mine became red after swiping the screen with a microfiber cloth used for glasses. So I tried that same cloth of a white ps5 controller...and it did leave some red color as well, but it was super easily wiped off with an alcohol wipe....but on the Odin 2, its IMPOSSIBLE to clean, I tried alcohol wipe, even toothpaste and ended up damaging the shell finish even more, but the red stains didnt come out. I regret not buying the black model. I paid so much money to have the Max model too, and now after 2 weeks it looks like crap.
I managed to clean 90% of it with one of those Cleaning Sponge Erasers...it's the only thing that worked. But a good idea is to stay away from using colored cloths to clean the screen on the white model
For those choosing between this or the Steam Deck for retro-emulation I’d like to throw in my 2 cents as to why the Odin2 is a no brainer for people like me: I was born in ‘98 so Gameboy Advance - PS1/Dreamcast/ - PS2/Gamecube - PSP are THE most nostalgic consoles for me. I own a retriod pocket 3plus, a Steam Deck (since launch), an Odin, and an Odin2 (since launch). While I was initially most excited for my Steam Deck, I ended up spending more hours on my Odin2 (which is wild bc Ive owned the Steam Deck for 3x as long). 1) If you have a modern gaming PC already, I recommend skipping the Steam Deck and getting the Odin2. The Steam Deck does more than the Odin2 but it just doesnt do retro-emulation or running side apps (like spotify/youtube/etc) as ergonomically or as smoothly as the Odin2. 2) Initial emulation setup is easier on the Steam Deck by a long shot which might be off-putting, BUT with the Daijisho launcher and available online guides, all the apps and emulators and roms become the easiest thing EVER to access and makes the Steam Deck’s UI look clunky in comparison. So long term, the Odin2 wins out in that regard in my opinion. 3) The Steam Deck is a big boy. Too big for me. When I’m out in public I feel like a total goober. I kinda feel the same when I’m walking around with the Switch. But with the Odin2, It almost feels like a slightly bigger PSP which I really like. But yeah it’s a modest size, so longer gaming sessions on an Odin2 is going to be significantly more comfortable. 4) Battery life is superior on the Odin2 by far. It charges faster than a Steam Deck and it lasts like 3x/4x longer. My Odin2 lasted me 2 airplane flights and then some on a single charge (including the uber to the airport), and the Steam deck lasted me the Uber ride back and the short time I spent waiting in the terminal for my flight. 5) The Odin2 is a DEDICATED mobile and emulation experience. The Steam Deck’s strength lies in it being a more affordable and efficient way to play modern steam deck approved games with the option to play on the go. While that sounds amazing at first, you wouldnt really be missing out on much due to the Switch undocked mode and playstation remote play being a thing for other consoles. Yes Steam has it’s own exclusives that stretch multiple generations of consoles but when you’re on the go it’s not like you’re typically looking to play competitive titles especially when the major hype around the SteamDeck I’ve heard in my personal social circles seems to be it’s emulation potential. It’s by no means a bad console the Steam Deck. But as someone who prefers his established PC/PS5/Switch setup for a modern, cinematic gaming experience, I think retro games suit portable consoles best. And retro emulation for nearly every console (besides DS/3DS due to their dual screens) is simply the most streamlined experience on the Odin2
Solid points. Plus with being able to stream AAA games to the Odin from my gaming pc, I get the best of both worlds getting to play games on max settings on my couch or in bed and since the odin isn’t doing the processing the battery lasts forever. Such a game changer
Thanks for saying this long comment cause I really needed someone to point me in the right direction as to what console to buy cause I've owned the rp3 and pc and a switch but none of them compare to a odin 2 or a steamdeck and I didn't know which one to choose wether it was gonna be the steam deck or the odin 2 buttons to your comment now imma buy a odin 2 pro mostly cause I badly want to play ps2 3ds and psp on a nice smooth console and one thing I mostly love about the odin 2 is the rgb lights there unbeatable there real beautiful its almost futuristic

Need for Speed Most Wanted seems to run poorly for PS2 and Dolphin, but I think the GameCube version runs a bit better. Definitely the most challenging game to run on Odin 2.
I was originally curious about the Retroid Pocket 3+(due to finding it being used in a Discord server for a fan recreation of a Tamagotchi app) but after seeing a few reviews of the Odin 2 I think once I have the money for this I'd get it. I've been really hoping for a device that would let me play Harvest Moon Animal Parade(a Wii game I played a lot on my wii & is my favorite game in the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons series) on the go, I have a Steam Deck(in hopes handheld would get me to play some of my games more) but it's pretty big & I've played it on my phone but the battery isn't as good. It's nice that this could be an option for emulation, might be interested in the Switch emulator but might take some time. It'd help me play Animal Crossing New Horizons again cause I need to restart but I don't want to restart my island on my actual Switch.
I've been waiting to see how you've set up your device. I loved the pegasus config you showed off in your original video, and I've been using something similar on my RP3+. 14:07 A tiny correction, but it doesn't "swap the RAM around". It enables a piece of Linux functionality called "swap", which lets the system use part of your system storage as RAM.
So this is the base? Really tempted to go for the base at 300 before they raise the price, but I'm also holding out for the next payday so I can splurge for the pro in 2 weeks. Decisions decisions. Either way thanks for this video. This is what I wanted my Odin Pro to be.
Yeah the base. I really can't think of a great reason for the Pro aside from just making sure that there might be some Switch games you want to run that need more ram, but either way I'm looking forward to see the improvements to Yuzu over time.

@@Funkteon sorry I'm very late to the party here... I've had my Odin 2 since December and I absolutely love the thing. When it comes to the price, honestly I didn't mind considering the chip set. The cheapest phone I could find with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 cost upwards of 600 bucks ! 300 is genuinely a good price for what you're getting imo, that being nice controls, insane battery life and near perfect emulation for the big three (GameCube, Wii and PS2). That's without even mentioning how good switch emulation got! As for the roms, if you didn't buy one of these handhelds and instead used emulators on your PC or phone you'd still have to find the games... Besides there's lots of different factors like regions, romhacks, updates, etc
I currently have an Aya Neo Geek 1s as well, but for some reason I really want this Odin 2. And I'm not sure why? I wouldn't have access to certain emulation (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, etc), or PC games...but the Odin 2 seems like it would be more inviting because of its lighter weight, 1080p screen (as opposed to the 800p in the Geek), and smaller frame. Sigh, decisions, decisions.
I see the Odin 2 as the device I will always take with me and play PS2 and lower on. I love my GEEK 1S but I might not take it out unless I need a portable PC, and I plan to have it docked in a bedroom and use it as a bedroom PC.

Being as I have fallen on hard times this year, I’ve been doing all of my gaming as of late on my modded PS Vida, OLED playing games like breath of fire at this exact moment for Game Boy Advance, as well as Games like Xenogears, Parasite Eve, Dino Crisis and Feat effect! And then playing stuff on my Modded New 3DS LL like Legend Of Zelda, Fire Emblem, Resident Evil DS, RE Revelations and Many others! They are nowhere near something like the Odin, but I am Thankful for them, otherwise I wouldn’t be doing any gaming at all right now because my TV died last month rendering all of my consoles useless until I can get another one…
I had a heck of a time with my modded Vita and 3DS, those got me into this whole thing in the first place! I personally think any handheld enthusiast should have those because they're such unique experiences that emulation can't replicate. I wish Sony and Nintendo would just exclusively back into the handheld market again but unfortunately I don't think it's gonna happen.

With Burnout 3 and the Burnout games you can eliminate the little slowdown after a crash if you change ‘Skip duplicate frames’ in Advanced settings to off.
The potential Odin 3 still has some room for improvements over the Odin 2. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 already seems like a sizeable increase in performance over the Gen 2, and, of course, an OLED display. Regardless, I ordered an Odin 2 Pro myself, and am quite excited to receive it
Can tou make a tutorial on how to add the patches and the 60fps cheat code. I have been having a problem after adding the cheat code. The game always crashed
I probably won't do a tutorial (I presume for Super Mario Sunshine?) but it was pretty straight forward to grab the code from the wiki and add it in Dolphin. I guess some things to consider would be: double check if your rom is PAL or NTSC or something, the codes are specific to the version. Also the turn on cheat codes option needs to be on in Dolphin.
Pressure sensitive face buttons need to be on everything. Wonderful. Does ps5 have that? Really wish the Odin 2 was a snap 8 Gen 3 because of the huge uplift.

So, I want to say thank you for the great review and enjoy your device Roetaka.

As a Odin 2 owner, I see the Odin and Steam deck as serving two different groups. Odin is a pure retro handheld machine that has tremendous battery life and can emulate anything below the original Wii. Steam deck is a handheld PC with emulation emulation capabilities.

That is indeed me! I'm messaging on my music account as I still write music and write for video games these days but I still do remixes. Chaos Legion was so a banger soundtrack.
Has anyone created specific button mappings for Moba games like Wild Rift and Mobile Legends? Being able to hold a button and use the right joystick to drag aim would be amazing but I haven't been able to find anything like that.... Was considering getting my programming buddy to help make an app to remap specifically for mobile moba games.
Great review, I’m so excited to get mine finally. Are there any plans to release the theme changes you made for Pegasus? I think you’ve convinced me to give it another shot, I found the installer for it to be a bit of a pain though when I tried it before.
I forgot about that other installer that kinda does things for you, I just install the Pegasus APK and do it all manually. There's not much I changed on the newest shin retro as some of the things I did were implemented into the newest version, I could pack the art and videos into a rar though if people were interested in that.
I also purchased the base unit. For some reason Yuzu still freezes and is unusable on mine after the running the script fix. Ayn did confirm a fix for the vram issue with an ota update in December. Hoping that fixes the issue for me.
Hi, Can you share a link for the HD texure for Twilight princess and the mods you are using please. it seems flawless but while using the HD texure the grass kind of looks chopy
I figured people might go to my old video in the description and get the links there but more people are asking so I've added this link too : www.henrikomagnifico.com/texture-packs
Mario odyssey performance is tied to the frame rate, if it isn't smooth 60, you will start to notice problems. I have this issue with the ROG Ally even in performance mode with Odyssey as well. It may be a long time before this is fixed, since the x86 version still has performance issue.
...I'm still very much enjoying my deck, however I've had my eye on the Odin 2 for a few months now. I don't have a whole lot of interest in ps3 emulation and up, as I have a ps3 still with a decent library. but, there's many games on the ps3 I'd like to have the convenience of firing up before going to bed, etc. My deck does perfectly well with GC, PS2, etc. Money isn't the issue where mine is more about available time...
I keep struggling with this because well I want it, but I have a steam deck that I can do the exact same emulations probably better... plus this comes with no ROMS. What makes this more worth it if you have a steam deck already?
It isn’t better justified buying the base model because the base won’t be too much more than what you’re looking for most likely and it’s a lot smaller than that big hunk of plastic that you can’t carry around called the steam deck. I really would opt for a base and going for a 1tb sd card to install everything you want
My black Base model will arrive on Thursday, super excited! I ordered on the Ayn site and got the shipping notice pretty much immediately after ordering lol They really learned their lessons from the Odin 1 and Loki "launch"
ps2 is most important to me, so it kinda would make me nervous to buy a device that can only run an unsupported emulator. Shame theres no supported ps2 emulators for android bc I love the way this thing looks in clear blue. But I gotta get a windows device for the reliability of pcsx2
you need more ram thats all for yuzu you shouldve gone with the pro model for me it was a love hate for ayn backed the project then canceled and thought its gonna be like the loki delays and after sawing they are already shipping before december went once again and oredered the max one in white and guess what already left china on its way to germany whwen it comes iam definitly swapping the buttons from white to black even the thumbsticjk caps gonna cover them with black
Looking at the memory usage with the floating icon for a game like Mario Odyssey says I still have plenty of ram left to use. And I did call that AYN would unlikely delay the Odin 2, looking at Jan latest, but still surprised me to be early.
Exactly... These devices are a hellscape of hoping the emulator devs stick around so you aren't in a situation of having a device that will eventually be a paper weight.
Are you able to confirm if Gran Turismo 4 runs smoothly on the Odin 2? There are some tracks that cause some other devices to struggle, like Clubman Street Route 5. (Can be found under arcade mode - city courses)
Do switch games still have stutter or occasions where the games need to load up such as metrpid prime? On pc it seems to need to render and does still stutter a bit. So id like to know if android makes it seemless. Looks amazing
With higher end emulation there's a few reasons why it might occur: one is shader cacheing and a lot of systems will stutter to save that shader information, we are essentially streaming the shader information as it comes to us in gameplay. Games like Call of Duty make us pre-install shaders to prevent this from happening, so it's just an inevitability in emulation that it might stutter...maybe if handhelds had SSD storage it might be better. Two is the emulator just needs to be improved to get the game working more, Yuzu for Android is still in development and they've made big improvements recently which I'll do a video on next. Lastly is a system just isn't powerful enough to handle the games its trying to play...but I'm quite confident that even the base model of the Odin 2 can handle most emulation that's thrown at it.
I ordered the protector with the unit from indiegogo. The HD texture packs I used were from www.henrikomagnifico.com/texture-packs but the video I left in the description where I talked about doing it for the Odin 1 might have a bit more info.
If budget and size is not an issue then I'd definitely pick the Odin 2 Base. It's just an extremely well made handheld and does all the GC, Wii and PS2 you could want, and a good amount of Switch, but a lot of the reasons why Switch games won't run or run well will be the emulator -- and is still in development. And the battery life is excellent. If you wanna do a lot more retro then the RP4's dpad on top over the stick is very nice.
Great bit of kit, would be very interested if I didn't already have a steam deck, but cant justify having both... But if I could... then I would probably use this as a dedicated emulation machine and use the Deck for Steam and older PC games. I appreciate your in depth reviews and the fact that you try to get the best out of all the machines you own, very helpful for those who own the different devices... Just out of interest if you could only have one device, which would you pick?
I guess if there's no limitations I'd probably invest in the Steam Deck OLED. I think in the end I just like having options, a handheld is great when it does what you want and if you wake up one morning and decide you want to play God of War then hey there you go, the Deck does that.
Is the Odin 2 pre loaded with any emulators or Roms? Just ordered the pro today, im no stranger to computers and tech but I’ve never messed with emulation or Roms but I’m assuming it’s not too difficult? Can’t wait to get mine!!
Metroid Prime Remastered has had an issue of having a black screen in game for ages, I don't know why that's still a problem but there's literally no telling when it might get fixed.
hello I'm just wondering if any of the models support micro SD card if so whats the max storage it can handle I haven't seen anyone show it in videos but online forums say you can that so I'm confused
If u don’t mind sharing , does it meant all switch games that had seen installed with dlc and updates did not work for yuzu at all regardless which driver and prod key etc?
I could only account for Mario Kart 8 and the Mii menu popping up, I wouldn't imagine installing updates and dlc for other games would be a problem unless there's a pre-existing problem like Mario Kart 8's that has popped up.
I remember saying that in the video but then afterwards I remembered the video I did on that was for Dolphin MMJR and I fear it's not quite the same and would just cause more questions. I'm still trying to figure out Wii pointer functionality in Dolphin, I've been told it's easy but I'm finding it way harder than MMJR.
It's actually been very good. People who were ordering the Max model on their site already had shipping happen because they had a surplus of the model. I believe they've shipped all the Indiegogo orders now so I don't think the wait would be too long. Though I was forced to use 4PX for shipping and it took 14 days to get to me which was a bummer, so hopefully you have DHL or something as an option.

For those choosing between this or the Steam Deck for retro-emulation I’d like to throw in my 2 cents as to why the Odin2 is a no brainer for people like me:
I was born in ‘98 so Gameboy Advance - PS1/Dreamcast/ - PS2/Gamecube - PSP are THE most nostalgic consoles for me.
Couldnt have said it better myself
Thanks for saying this long comment cause I really needed someone to point me in the right direction as to what console to buy cause I've owned the rp3 and pc and a switch but none of them compare to a odin 2 or a steamdeck and I didn't know which one to choose wether it was gonna be the steam deck or the odin 2 buttons to your comment now imma buy a odin 2 pro mostly cause I badly want to play ps2 3ds and psp on a nice smooth console and one thing I mostly love about the odin 2 is the rgb lights there unbeatable there real beautiful its almost futuristic
Great info but you forgot to mention the pretty bad input latency on the Odin's. That's unfortunately a dealbreaker for me...

I think that strap in your case is meant to go under the Odin. You pull on the tab to help you pull it out of the case when laying flat.
Yeah, I just threw it on top because I did and I was just filming with one hand, didn't really think about it.
Need for Speed Most Wanted seems to run poorly for PS2 and Dolphin, but I think the GameCube version runs a bit better. Definitely the most challenging game to run on Odin 2.

i am picking up the retroid pocket 4+ ... cant wait till it arrives.
The RoeTaka Odin 2 content finally begins 😭🔥
How did you get Mario wonder in this? Subbed by the way.

MSU1 for Megadrive was a huge surprise on the Odin 2 with the excellent speakers. MSU1 for SNES wasn't nearly as good though.

I keep struggling with this because well I want it, but I have a steam deck that I can do the exact same emulations probably better... plus this comes with no ROMS. What makes this more worth it if you have a steam deck already?

What does it mean now for devices like the Odin now that Yuzu and Citra and other emulators have been shutdown?

Where did you get your screen protector? I'm not too happy with the matte one I got.
Also, where do you recommend getting HD texture packs from?
I ordered the protector with the unit from indiegogo. The HD texture packs I used were from www.henrikomagnifico.com/texture-packs but the video I left in the description where I talked about doing it for the Odin 1 might have a bit more info.
Hey, roetaka, if u had to choose between the base model odin 2 or the rp4 Pro, which would u choose and why?
Have the steam deck and 1st odin. Going to either get the odin 2 or Aya neo pocket air. Nothing wrong with collecting them.

I could only account for Mario Kart 8 and the Mii menu popping up, I wouldn't imagine installing updates and dlc for other games would be a problem unless there's a pre-existing problem like Mario Kart 8's that has popped up.
Nice video... can you provide me the link to set up Dolphine wii controler
Would this be a good replacement for my Motorola Smartphone?
Great video. Thanks.
Rogue leader can crash gaming PCs rebel strike is even worse, thanks for the video.
Can you play games offline, after downloading games? Like how I do on switch, and ps vita?
Of course
Can you show or explain how seemless or maybe not seemless it is to use the original SD card from my odin one in the odin two?
If you SD card only has games on it then it's just portable storage, you'd use it on any device.
Wish they just used slower RAM instead of limiting it to 8GB. Switch slowdown is unfortunate.
8+128 can run yuzu well????no any porblem?
How is the shipping on the Odin 2?
It's actually been very good. People who were ordering the Max model on their site already had shipping happen because they had a surplus of the model. I believe they've shipped all the Indiegogo orders now so I don't think the wait would be too long. Though I was forced to use 4PX for shipping and it took 14 days to get to me which was a bummer, so hopefully you have DHL or something as an option.
thanks for your share!
