      Thank you, August. I don't remember what the longest piece would be. Guessing about 34-35", but I'd suggest checking with Laguna to be sure.

    Paul, If you had purchased the 10-in extension kit AND the 20-in extension table, which end would you recommend each be set on ..... at least initially since obviously both extensions cannot be used simultaneously unless they are used at opposite ends? I'm thinking that the 20-in extension doesn't really add anything to the outboard motor end for turning larger bowls unless I'm missing something, but it would definitely add something to the table extension end for adding even more spindle turning length than the 10-in extension. I would still ask you for your thoughts? Thanks.

      Hi John, I agree with your rationale, and that's how I would set it up. If I was turning a deep bowl, on the outboard side, however, I'd put the 20" extension on there. You can find a video on my channel where I turn a salad bowl that is about 14x4 if I recall correctly, and I used the 20" extension for that. With any bowl deeper than 3-4 " it starts to get pretty tight with the 10" extension. By the time you factor in the spindle adapter, chuck and bowl depth, you don't have much room to position the banjo. But for the most part I'd bet you would get more benefit out of having the longer spindle capacity.

      would purchase 2- 20 inch extensions to inboard and outboard, realizing the outboard will make it more stable in the long run. I am looking to getting at least the possibility of turning a piece 32 to 34 inches long, is this correct or is my calculations off?

      I was looking at this lathe at rocker. Interested to see how it does in your deep dive.

    Hi. Around vid marker 9:26 you put a wire and looks like you are putting it all the way through. What are you actually doing in this part of the video? Tyvm...

    • @ToolMetrix
      @ToolMetrix  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Michael, it does kinda look like a through cut but I’m actually just using a wire to burn a shallow detail into the piece. It’s a fairly common practice and adds a nice effect.

    Hi Paul. Where is the knockout bar stored? Thx.

    • @ToolMetrix
      @ToolMetrix  4 роки тому

      There’s a large tool storage shelf underneath the lathe bed where you can store the knockout bar.

      ToolMetrix I didn’t find a hole small enough to put it in. Can you get a pic of where it’s supposed to go Paul?

      @@michaell7877 Hmmmm....I just moved the 1216 out of my shop to free up some space. Now that you mention it, I do recall that, and I think I had something that I put in one of the holes, kinda like a bushing, that reduced the size enough to hold the knockout bar. Sorry I'm blanking on exactly what it was.

      ToolMetrix yea, they don’t fit any of my turning tools. That pedestal kind of useless to me, unless I decide to get a better set.

    I just bought a 12/16 the points of the headstock and tail stock are off very slightly. Do you have any suggestions on how to adjust them

    • @ToolMetrix
      @ToolMetrix  3 роки тому

      Hi Ciara, I think that there is some lateral adjustment that can be made. Not vertical, however. Take a look in the manual as it is covered in there I believe. Best of luck. Cheers, Paul

    • @mikemd917
      @mikemd917 3 роки тому

      You can adjust the headstock with the set screws in the inside of the headstock.

      Elbow height is ideal.

      Thank you, and I'm sorry that you had problems with the sound quality on this video. I do get some echo in my shop due to the high ceiling and sheetrock walls and celing that bounce the sound around.
