- The Analogue Pocket is hands down the best GameBoy I could think of. Lemme know if I should do a full video on making music with it, including MIDI support, LSDJ, all the Nanoloops etc...
If you enjoy this video, maybe check out some of my other stuff as well?
Or subscribe and see me miss my Jamuary uploads day after day? Oh the fun you could have!

my new EP is coming out on January 19th... so what are you even waiting for?

I do plan on making a video dedicated to making music with the Pocket, trying out the MIDI in, how it sounds with LSDJ and the different Nanoloop carts etc. If you have any question, leave a comment.
Thx!
Awesome! Does nanoloop on the analogue pocket support midi out- could you use it as a brain to sequence hw synths?
@@HyperObjeckt only supports Midi in so far
Lsdj would be cool
@@noisetv1863 I got you. LSDJ coming in one of the next vids.
How to vid for total noobs would be greatly appreciated
I was on the fence about buying this but after I learned you could make music it sold me
Great decision! Nanoloop is a lot of fun. And the Pocket can also run LSDJ, which is GameBoy music making on steroids.
this sounds like it could be in a earthbound or mother game.
Lovely comment! Earthbound soundtracks are 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
First nanoloop jam on Pocket I’ve seen, dope! If these ever get in stock on a regular basis could be a potent budget portable music option for that alone
That and LSDJ runs perfectly fine on it as well. I’ll have an in-depth video on making music with the Pocket in the coming week or so. Thanks for checking out my vids, that means a lot to me.
@@vvlvmusic aww, I went looking for an LSDJ video and can't find it. I know it's kind of just another tracker and you've done stuff about the M8... but also every tracker has its quirks!
@@kaitlyn__LLSDJ has its quirks for sure. Especially with how you can only use certain voices on each of the channels. I might do an LSDJ video at some point but it always takes me a bit to get back into it.
@@vvlvmusic that’s totally fair! You’re doing this all for free. Honestly, it takes me months to progress on tracks (because I start and massage so many instead of focusing on just one) so I’m definitely not tryna be like “hey! Talk about LSDJ tomorrow!” lol. Just letting you know there’s interest there :)
@@kaitlyn__L no worries, I didn’t take it like that 😅 I appreciate the comment and feedback. And I totally get the “juggling too many tracks and ideas” thing. Sometimes it’s hard to just sit down and focus. Anyways, now I kinda want to go back to LSDJ heh
awesome! i'm glad to see the first videos with the pocket as an instrument. Looking forward to seeing more of this :)
Thanks for the feedback. Already working on a longer video but can’t seem to wrap it up. Soon, I guess :)
A Gameboy and music machine. This is handheld is sick.
It’s a really lovely handheld. Need to use it a little more ;)
Nicely shot! This sounds great too. Got a great drive to it.
Thanks, man :) yeah the sound output is more than decent, makes for the best sounding Nanoloop experience. Really wanna make some more little jams with it.
Oooooh man!!!! Whoa!!! Super dope jam!!! Really looking forward to more videos on the Analogue Pocket from you!!! 🙌🐀
Yo the best rats in the game leaving the nicest comments 🖤 thank you!!
This is great, would love more like this! I've also got a Pocket and would be interested in a bit of a tutorial on how to make something that's not just randomly clicking around.
Thank you for the feedback. Maybe I’ll do a little walkthrough on how to get a track started with the Pocket!
Love this jam!! 😁👊 The vibrato/wavy-sounding chords and those "chiptune coin blips" especially!
Yes, Please do some tutorials, that would be sweet! Especially how to sync it with other gear would be super helpful. (Although it looks I've got a loooong wait to get mine! Hahaha)
Oh, what group you in? B or C? Yeah I’ll make a longer video on all ways to utilize it for making music. Thanks for checking it out.
@@vvlvmusic I'm in the C group - over a year wait. 😏🤣
Hoping this will give me something to look forward to all year though, Haha!
I think it should be pretty interesting to sync up with the Dirtywave M8 Tracker among other things, Woot! 🤓👏
Love this!
Appreciated, Jeroen! Thanks
That's cool! I could vibe to this!
Had fun with that one, cool that you dig it :)
That thing looks awesome, I don’t even know what it is but it sounds great 👍
It’s an fpga based GameBoy, running a dedicated version of Nanoloop. But the most important thing is that you’re enjoying it! Thanks 🙏🏻
Dude, this Sounds awesome!
Thanks for taking the time to check it out. Much appreciated 🙌🏻
@@vvlvmusic i had this ten years ago but couldnt do mich with it by the time.. keen for more jamuary, keep it up!
oh man, please make that video! i was looking for any information on how lsdj performs on the analogue pocket and unfortunately found nothing. looking forward to checking the options out with you!
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll definitely provide a look on how LSDJ performs on the pocket and how it sounds.
@@vvlvmusic everything is handy to know really, like how does it perform with midi over usb? how do you load roms like homebrew? flash carts? does it work with arduinoboy? all sorts of related topics would do wonders if covered 😉
Cool Session!
Thanks! 🙌🏻
Please do make a more in depth video showcasing midi for mGB, lsdj, etc. There aren't many videos showcasing the music side of the analogue pocket's capabilities.
It sounds great from what you've demonstrated here, nice apollo btw!
Hey man, thanks for checking it out and your feedback. I am already taking notes for a more in-depth video featuring mGB, LSDJ, all Nanoloop variants, Midi in accessory and looking at the sound quality etc.
might take me another week, but it’ll come. Hit that notification bell 😅
@@vvlvmusic oh rest assured I'm already subbed, you're one of the channels inspiring me to make the leap from lsdj to the M8.
Your polyend jams are rad too btw
@@miggychan thank you very much, that means a lot to me :) end of January new M8s should be available. I can wholeheartedly recommend getting one
Nice work. These AP are not easy to get!
Thank you :) yeah I had mine pre-ordered August 2020. Quite the wait. Scalper prices on eBay are pretty insane, too. While it’s a lovely device, it’s not THAT much of a must-have.
Yeah!
🙌🏻 yesss
Hell yeah! Do you ever do live gigs?
It’s been a few years. I kinda want to play live gigs again but it’s not so easy considering that I want to play as much live of it as I can while also kinda keeping it in a certain style etc
I think that it's even more interesting when things go places, like all around the musical globe or ore. no boarders , no frames.😌
Sounds super crisp dude! Finally arrived, first impressions good??
This is the ultimate Nanoloop for me so far. It sounds so good and I am just getting started with it. Very happy.
@@vvlvmusic Sweeet! That's good news!
Really great sound, what plugins were you using on your Twin for the recording?
Thanks! I recorded it without any plugins. Just some really minor Waves Multiband compression when I rendered it. It’s basically the pure sound from the Pocket.
This sounds super nice. How does the mono sound on this? I'm a bit frustrated i can sync my gba with mono but when i add another gameboy with my other mono, the gba outputs the sync pulse signal.
Good jam as always please keep uploading this kind of stuff :)
Hey, thanks for your comment. So the Mono is not usable on the Pocket, since it utilizes sending audio over one of the pins if I remember correctly. You have two Mono and want to sync them all to a GBA? Shouldn’t that work with the right gamelink cable? How are you syncing them?
@@vvlvmusic i have adapters and cables to sync all together BUT, if i sync 1 mono to the gba, the mono must be the master. If synced as master, the gba outputs the sync pulse signar through the headphone jack. The same happens if i add another mono. The sync works well tho. I migh try to mod my gba with an audio out mod. Love the sound on these two nanoloops.
@@vvlvmusic yeah tha'ts what i thought about the mono. Have you done the direct out mod? I guess the AP it's worth it just for the audio quality and sync options.
This sounds great! How much of the music is coming from the Pocket?
Thanks, man! All of the music is coming from the Pocket, no external sounds or fx.
@@vvlvmusic Wow! - That's impressive. I thought it only had the Game Boy sound implementation but it sounds like it has a more advanced synth engine.
@@DavidFilskov it’s pretty much the sound from the Nanoloop 2 cartridge. So the sound capabilities are like that of the GBA but the audio is cleaner. :)
@@vvlvmusic Cool! - GBA has the GB engine and sample channels. Awesome!
Hello,
Did you already made the video about analogue pocket and midi? I would like to know if arduinoboy works with analogue pocket especially with midi map and midi out mod of lsdj arduinoboy.
And also, the analogue pocket's nanoloop seems to be the same as nanoloop 2 on gameboy advance. Isi t the same?
And last question : does nanoloop mono works with the analogue pocket?
Hey man.
I know, it’s been ages and I still didn’t get around to make the video.
As for your questions: Arduinoboy I have to try, didn’t do that yet.
Nanoloop on the Pocket is pretty much the GBA NL2 but it sounds cleaner/better.
Unfortunately Nanoloop Mono doesn’t work because it utilizes one of the pins in the original GameBoy hardware for sound creation.
@@vvlvmusic Ok no problem, take me in know when you try it :-) for me it will make the difference, bying it or not if arduinoboy works with it or not. Happy to hear that NL2 sounds cleaner/better. For nanoloop mono, sadly, I will still use the old gameboy
Which cable did you use to connect?
Sadly I didn’t order the cables and now would need to wait for 2023 and pay 50$ shipping just for the cables. So I won’t order them :(
I used the Midi In cable. And I regret not getting the sync cable as well coz like you I don’t wanna wait another year for it and pay insane shipping fees.
I need this to be compatible with live 😭
I feel you, man. But at least you can sync it to Live. I’ll have an in-depth tutorial up asap.
@@vvlvmusic yo, so they made it connectable to pc and mac with midi cables 🤯 looking at the website now. Is that a newer thing? Lmao
@@calebwasthere420 well you can sync it via MIDI. That’s pretty much it so far. But still very cool. Damn I need to make a video on this. 🤦♂️
@@vvlvmusic please do
So, is it Nanoloop 2? Or??
It’s basically NL2, yeah. Better sounding tho
This is way overpriced and if ya get it for nanoloop after all the cables and sd card not even a case you already at 400 dollars get the doc for it and changer another 200 so for 600 dollars um hard pass
Man, I don’t want to disrespect your opinion, but the Pocket plus Midi Cable was 220, Micro SD for 15 bucks and audio cable I had plenty around. So for 235 I was set. And that’s not much more than a modded GBA goes for these days plus you still need Nanoloop cart or a flash cart, plus Display and audio quality on the Pocket are excellent. But yeah, it’s not cheap, for sure. I still wouldn’t call it way overpriced. ✌🏻
Its not a bad price, will probably look into buying it soon
Go for it! But I’m afraid it’ll be a long waiting time.
@@vvlvmusic I understand, but I think I have the patience for that
