So that conversion is somewhat misleading. 173cm is in fact 5.67 feet, but that's not 5'6''. 5.67 feet is 5 feet + 0.67 * (12/10) inches, which is 5'8''. So he ain't THAT short.

5'10" is 177.8 cm. 173 cm is 5'8". Who ever told you 5'6" can't math good.
when you convert cm to feet, most online converters default to decimal feet, not foot/inch. so when they see 5.6 ft, they think 5'6"
a common mistake. one that you rarely think about since most people only ever use 1 unit of measurement to check their height and rarely ever need to convert
