    Great review! I recently converted one of my acoustic kits to an e-kit and used the Triggera V2's. And yes, I spend a lot of time adjusting the settings in my module. I have a Roland TD-12 Module and started from scratch, because all the "pre-settings" where pretty much useless. Luckily I found a lot of information about trigger settings on this channel and got it to work properly, fitting my needs. So, thank you for that! :)

    Great video! I've been using Triggera for years with my Yamaha DTX502 . I guess I have the V2's. I'll stick with those as I'm not going to mess around with my vintage Tama's and they've been working fine all this time. I have the Intriggs, Bix's (for the bass drum), and the crash and splash. Anytime I've had an issue (piezo issue's on the cymbals) Vukan has provided excellent support.

    Your results match mine. I'm using a few V2 triggers on my toms and even my kick and they work fine with a TD-25 module. I bought the V3 for a snare conversion, and the breather hole was way too small and close to the head, so I drilled a new hole altogether. I won't be using this as an acoustic snare again, so don't mind too much. As for the triggering, at this point I prefer center-mount cone triggers. I'd stick with using it on toms. Next time I'll try something different. That said, still using V2 on my toms with great success, and recommend them, I'd recommend the V3 for toms as well if you don't mind drilling.

    I can personally recommend the Triggera stuff and UFO Drums triggers. I have the Triggera V2's and have excellent results on my Pearl Mimic Pro (and also when I had a Roland TD-50). I don't like the V3 design where you have to "put it together" yourself, although the air vent input is a nice touch. The V1/V2 design with everything already mounted is more appealing in my opinion. I lucked out on my kit, as I'm using the Pearl ePro shell pack which already has input jack built-in to the shell.

    Great review, I totally concur with the difficulty installing this unit on a generic Taiwanese steel shelled Snare drum. I had to drill the air hole significantly to get the Jack mount thread through the shell. Then when I put the heads on, there was no clearance to get the Jack in past the hoop. So I had to take it off again and build up some clearance from the shell with some thick rubber washers. Then the wires fell out of the connection block during playing, so I had to reattach them and put latex glue in the connector holes to insulate and hold them from vibrations. Although it works well I must say I’ll go the Jobecky route for future conversions.

    I bought 4 Intrigg V3's a month ago and two of them are broken now. The Piezo wires break very easily and customer service really sucked. Also a huge chunk of the lower cone was carved out for the wires that caused the cone to tilt when under pressure.

    You can heat up the wire insulation with a lighter then strip back what you need to with your thumbnail. I have proper wire strippers, but sometimes, with thinner wire, the lighter trick works better anyway. Thanks for the great work on your channel.

    Great review! I'm using an EAD10 to trigger with a Remo Silent Stroke head on my kick, and it is damn near impossible to get consistent triggering. I have to hit insanely hard to trigger the kick sound. It works perfectly on normal acoustic heads. Even with the firmware update and messing with the settings I can't get it to work properly with mesh heads. I have triggers on my toms and snare (Roland and DDrum), but I'm using better heads on those drums (Real Feel by DrumTec), and they all work really well.
    Should I upgrade my kick drum head to a drumtec one, or buy a kick trigger that will work better with the Silent Stroke mesh head? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    i wish i could have as good results as you were, i've been having to spend a lot of time on my drumit3 to get a good trigger result. i've had to line the inside my shells with studio foam to not get any double triggering, and no matter what i cannot achieve an isolated rim zone, and installation is definitely not the easiest, and on top of that one of my triggers broke within 20 minutes of playing it, the wire going to the head piezo snapped, there was hardly any tension on it. so far i'm kind of regretting them and wish i just tried something diy at this point.

    Hi. I would like to ask a few questions. I have bought an alesis strike AMP 12, and on the back it says something about GND and Contour, and i dont know what it is. The other question is that i've plugged my phone into the amp and try playing some music, it began to play the music, but it wasn't good quality, is that normal?
    Sorry for my bad English writing.

Would you mind explaining to me how you did that? Also, perhaps that's not the place but... Would you recommend these triggers for bass drum aswell or do you have a better idea?

    Wow. The more I read about these, it appears I'm gonna be better off just making my own. I was about to order a set for my conversion kit, but I don't want to end up with a bunch of junk triggers in a matter of days. I need something more reliable and easily serviceable since I'll be taking my kit out on the road. My trigger quest continues I suppose!

    Can you share your settings? I purchased these after watching this video, but I can not get a good response using my TD-50. I originally tried the PDX-100, PD85, and other dual trigger settings, but it almost entirely triggered all head hits as rim hits!? Then I switched it to RT10s as they suggested, but the sensitivity is horrible even with threshold at zero.

  • @Les_h_drums

    I recommend a second review after a couple months of use.i own 4 of these that i ordered in December.THERE IS A SERIOUS FLAW IN ITS DESIGN.
    It is now April and 3 of the 4 have failed. The wires are too thin and crack off at the head piezo right between the 2 foam columns.the constant flexing because the piezo is not rigidly mounted causes the break.The glue they have installed does not help!the first failed back in February and I’m still waiting on the replacement to arrive.(likely due to shipping delays due to the pandemic). But since 2 more have failed exactly the same way, I have pretty much given up on them.
    FYI . I must have been one of the first to try these because mine didn’t come with the quick connect. When I contacted Triggera I was told that it wasn’t included, although it was clearly pictured with the trigger kit.
    Very disappointed.Not nice to have this happen during a gig, as it did.
    Please update your review and let us know how they last, I guarantee the same will happen.

    • @thedrumdoctor
      @thedrumdoctor 4 роки тому

      I did a Snare conversion 3 months ago and it looks like what you have described has happened to mine. All of a sudden the sensitivity disappeared from the head but the rimshots were still loud and clear, in fact, louder than they had been before. I couldn’t see any wire breakages but what you have described could be a possibility for the sudden problem I am experiencing. Such a shame as the triggering via a TD-20 into Superior Drummer is fantastic.

    2 millimeters? You use the metric system? (I am from Europe, that caught me off guard :)

    • @65Drums
      @65Drums  4 роки тому +7

      It's kinda complicated. In the USA we use a combination of the Imperial System and Metric. For example Coke/Pepsi comes in a 2 liter bottle. But milk comes in a 1 Gallon jug. For anything shorter than an inch, I use millimeters. I wish my country would just pick a system and stick with it. In school we are taught both systems and how to convert between them. It's annoying lol.

    • @65Drums

      Side mounted works fine on drums 14" and smaller yes :) but use center mounted on floor toms. Because your stick can be literally 16" away from the sensor if it's side mounted

    I feel like that when it comes to a trigger like this, you are better making your own as you would have to do just as much assembly for a DIY trigger and it would cost a little bit less. It also means you have more customisation if you wanted to have a bigger Piezo or a different bracket etc. I get why people buy these as you don't have to go for as much of a hunt to find things like the foam cones etc but I would just make my own and save a bit of money.
