My parents had a Dodge Sportsman RV back in the 70s, very much like this one, but in the UK. It was quite unusual at the time! We slept above the cab as kids (headroom wasn't an issue!). It also had a V8 engine, with 13 miles to the gallon!! Petrol too. My Dad never really got to drive it at capacity, all the crockery would have broken!! He did drive it on the Autobahn in Germany once though. We also had a shower and toilet, although he was keen for us to use the campsite toilets, so he didn't have to empty it!!! Happy memories. I'm sure that's where my love of van life comes from. We have a VW too, much more user friendly in UK and Europe!. Enjoy the rest of your tour.

It definitely rattles as we drive along and we go nowhere fast!! But we have loved the freedom it has given us to get off the beaten tourist track and we have found some incredible small towns and backwater campgrounds.

Hey guys great Video. We are driving one of these for 5 weeks in the US in November this year so some great tips here. We are also Gobsmacked at the device and charging situation of this van... also no screen in the dash for navigation or apple play... wowzers lol welcome to 1994.

It felt a bit like going into the dark ages Vicki...or driving a tank! Be prepared. Even the AUX port didn't work so we resorted to playing music straight from our phones that we propped up on the dash...not the best sound quality when competing with a V8 engine😂😂😂
How exciting...a 5 week road trip! We definitely recommend the National Parks that we are now mildly obsessed with😂
      Have a great trip👍

Enjoyed the video guys. It’s been amazing to follow you on this trip. We’ve picked up some good tips for our trip next June so thanks for that. Keep safe. Irvine & Karen.

Another enjoyable video. I wonder if you'll start looking for a motorhome when you get back to the UK after the luxury of a big RV? We are waiting to buy a motorhome at the moment and have decided to go for a 6 to 6.5 metre vehicle. There's always a compromise to be made as there are advantages with campervans like yours but I'm 6ft 2 and my wife's 5ft 11so we need space. Enjoy your last week.

The RV does feel really big to us but has given us lots of ideas for what we want and don’t want in our next van in a couple of years 🚐

Very helpful video! I have heard that their generators are super loud. So, instead, would they allow you to bring along your own power source, like say, a Jackery??

Hi- thanks for the comment👍 They were super loud...so much so we only started it up once and realised it was far too antisocial to use😳 We never used it again on the trip...but it we did use campgrounds for regular hook ups.
I am sure there would be no rules about using power stations on board...the only issue for us would be bringing one from Europe😂 The additional baggage charge would kill us!
      Have a great week👍

Excellent video. We are taking our first cross country this year. May I ask, where did you go to get the propane refilled?

Thank you ☺️ we generally filled up on campgrounds, most of the bigger sites had tanks. We also came across a few petrol stations that had propane. It was never a problem. Have a great trip - where are you off to?

@@earlyretirementwanderlust thank you for the information. We are going from Arizona to Illinois. It is a one way trip and that is a great thing about Cruise America that one can rent for a one way trip. We have planned out several stops along the way and have made reservations at some larger campgrounds. Thanks for the great videos. I really appreciate the information.
