Strong Networks, Stronger Communities | ALLIES

This story is about the relationship between the Mayurbhanj district chapter of Kalinga TB Survivors Network and a person with TB (and his family) Mr. Anjan Raut. On a CAF visit to the village, TB Champion Geeta Behera learnt about Anjan's brain TB diagnosis and current health condition (he was paralysed). She contacted the network members and facilitated a disability certificate for Anjan. Anjan's family was struggling financially and the elder son had dropped out of school to work as a labourer to support the family. The network pooled funds and set up a grocery shop, now run by Anjan's wife, which gave a stable source of income to the family. They also linked the family to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Anjan is doing better and his son has resumed his studies. Holistic support for Anjan and his family was provided by the network.
