  • Whether it's 'naive' in Moroccan or 'intention' in Arabic, this video showcases just how powerful women actually are in traditional cultures found in North Africa and the Middle-East. This is for our Queens.

Niyya isnt necessarily naïve in Moroccan. It can also mean someone with a good heart. It also means the literal meaning, intention.

Manal here tells a true story wtch happend in the 50s ...of a sheikha (a moroccan traditional artist ) loved a man and he promessed to marry her, she was naive she trusted him, and gived him her virginity (the blood in the video and loosing virginity represent a real loss in tht era and in a conservative country ) then he didnt showed up the day of the small marriage cermony...thts why she and her freinds and familly were sad in the end.....its also contain a powerfull message in the lyrics tht we r not naive we love and we trust but no more sacrefices if u want a girl dont play and be a real man and even if not we r independent woman i can live happy without u...those days of naivety r gone

I was opposite; after hearing a fireside lecture about Islam and the similarities between Christianity and Islam, hearing the call of prayer and a child recite the Quran, I decided to study Arabic to understand the religion and Quran better. It has made a huge difference. I wish you the best, sister.

The chedda of Tlemcen is a traditional Algerian outfit, more precisely from the city of Tlemcen, but also worn in the west of the country, notably in Oran and Mostaganem. A pure product of Tlemcen craftsmanship[1], the Tlemcen bridal costume accumulates pieces from various periods.
Since 2012, the chedda has been listed as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity, as the bridal costume of Tlemcen and the associated rites and craft skills[11].
The city of Mostaganem has a twin variant[12]. In the city of Oran, some brides opt for a Tlemcenian or Mostaganem chedda, rather than the white dress😂😂😂😭🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿

I remember my ex wife wearing the chdda in our traditional Moroccan wedding.. My friends from London have never seen anything like this before.. Not only she wore it, her mother did in her wedding, grandmother too, and so forth, following tradition is always beautiful no matter what time or place or centres you are born.. This video you broke down really good habibi.. also just to add, these chdda are really heavy like you wont believe.. she was complaining all night about it I told her enough with the whining she made me wear it behind closed doors I took everything what i said back lol

During the “month of gratitude,” I am grateful for my parents that taught us girls to know our worth, to prepare for the future and to ask what are the intentions of a man whom wants to date or marry us. In fact, it was the first question my mom would ask my guy friends. They taught us to wait till marriage. My father’s advice was “Let a man come to you.” Although I’m not Arab, I find it quite beautiful that there are so many similarities between our cultures/way of life. Arabic has such a beautiful way of expressing one’s feelings and this singer expressed and represented women beautifully.

Thank you for your reaction. Let me explain the story that Manal wanted to share with this song and video. The story of the sheikhas, moroccan women artists that can only dream of having a love life because of the reputation that a sexist mentality is still giving them. Manal interpretation is of a sheikha and her friends, and the elder women you see are real life sheikhas. She dreams of her wedding that all men keep promising her, being happy with her friends and family, but the guys follows society and either dump her or just leave her hanging there, and at the end they are all sad because they realize that that is the life that they will have for choosing to follow their passion.

Sex outside marriage is not love. It's just a way to make you cheap and easy for scumbags who will take advantage of you as happened with this poor girl...what our religion teaches is that if a man really loves you he will come and ask for your hand from your family like a princess, not by having sex with you on the street like dogs.

    *** Explanations ***
(Please read all my comment it explains everything)
For the video clip it is 100% Moroccan culture.
    [ Moroccan cultural story ]
This clip talks about " chikhat " and
they're traditional groups who dance and sing in parties, but even that, our society look at them like bad women or something like that because of religion and the Singer acts a character of one of chikhats who waits and waits for her groom but he didn't came to their wedding because of how society sees her and then she says ain't going to change my job just because of you and I'll wait for someone who loves me and marrie me with all my goods and bads and I won t be naive anymore.
in thus clip she wears Moroccan traditional dresses like caftan, Takchita, haik (white clothing that is has religious purpose and it s not wearable anymore) and other thigs
    like head thread belgha (Moroccan
slippers) jewelries and the big traditional dress of the bride from city of fez (in the beginning) : chedda fassia or lebsat al jawhar (with tons of perls and gold lebba, it has nothing to do with egypt lol) (this is what she was taking off to symbolising the fact that his groom didn't come to the wedding, thus, she was sad even if they r all dancing etc...
Oh yeah the blood symbolize Virginity, because as muslims the girl must not lose her virginity before marriage, and doing this is a great sacrifice and evidence of her love for that man who did not marry her afterwards and did not even come to the wedding.
But briefly the song want to say what you were saying in the video, really big Bravo u got it .
    much love from morocco ❤❤

I did a reaction to this but did not use the CC. I can get the CC through screen record. I typically download the video which mostly does not include CC material. For me it allowed for questions to be asked and I used the scenery and body language to interpret. Sometimes, I tell my viewers if I read the captions then I miss the visuals. I'm at the 2:46 mark but will watch to the end. Thanks for the lessons.

the meaning of the word niya in Moroccanas culture is : the person who trust in other persona alot .witch we take it as bad thing and when we say this person is just niya ( trust other people easy) it means people scam him alot and play him like scam him and stell him.. so it's kinda like bad so this manal saying i am not niya and if you want me come and ask my hand from parents witch means i am not stupid if you want me you have to marry me
