  • We're very happy to welcome Helvetic Airways, the 286th airline in our cockpit series! The airline recently took delivery of their 1st brand new Embraer 190-E2 series and we get to take 4 flights in the cockpit of this beautiful aircraft from Zurich to Munich and back followed by a roundtrip from Zurich to Warsaw. Our pilots present the new aircraft to you in details as well as the 4 flights, routes, maps and a lot more...
    Helvetic Airways was born in 2003 and today it operates a fleet of 16 Embraer 190s and has another 11 aircraft on order. The airline operates a number of flights for Swiss International including the 4 we feature on this program.
    As of June 2020 Embraer has delivered 22 E2 series aircraft and has 151 still on order. The E2 aircraft are powered by new engines with larger diameter fans that would offer improvements in specific fuel consumption, as well as slightly taller landing gear and improved wing.
    + Cockpit filming using 5 cameras for multiple views on takeoff & landing!
    + Crew flight preparation at Flight Operations as well as in cockpit
    + Cockpit Set-up , Briefings, Checklists
    + Cockpit Presentation and features of new E2

    Like I said on Facebook, this is one craft I never knew that got a huge upgrade from the original E190. After looking up the difference and when it came out, I have to say it's amazing and beautiful. They really did a great job on this aircraft and it's fuel efficient. This aircraft came out in 2018 and maybe one day I can fly on one since I've been on the E175 and E190. For the video, Awesome takeoffs and landings, this plane sounds awesome. Beautiful view outside these windows; the skies and landscape are amazing throughout the video. I love their entry onto this plane and meeting the whole crew in the cabin as well; that cabin looks amazing. I enjoy hearing and watching these pilots. I love how detail they were, and how they took the time to explain and show us their equipment. This equipment is a huge upgrade to the original E190 and I love this. I enjoy hearing the Captain tell us about the aircraft and how he explains the aircraft, you learn a lot. Awesome video, I love.

    I loved flying the 175 other than the awful yoke, weak engines and slow auto throttle response. The VNAV direct to feature was super nice, as well as the fact that you can stay in VNAV and do FLCH at the same time and even the auto bugging of flap speeds. A flying computer with no sense in human interface (ergonomics) is what it really is. Hopefully the new ones have some power. I am currently on the 777 and that thing is such a beast in the climb.

    It seems like to me their is an easier learning curve with the embraer 190 e2 vs the Airbus a220 or the equivalent from boeing from a non pilot perspective it seems like it doesn't overwhelm you with tons buttons and switches also I'm actually glad embraer didn't combine with boeing they would have destroyed the company if they want to do a partnership I think it should be with Gulfstream because Gulfstream doesn't make regional jets so they are not a competitor but Gulfstream can bring the passenger comfort up and can also help with engine configuration also if they were to partner with Gulfstream they would have a product at the ebd because both gulfstream and embraer would profit and benefit from the partnership

    Am I the only one that’s annoyed that captains shadow the controls like that? Your FO is fully qualified and experienced to fly the aircraft without being shadowed like that, it shows (in my opinion) no confidence with the guy you’re working with and sets a negative tone

    • @GNX157
      @GNX157 4 роки тому +3

      FlyguyChevy I noticed but didn’t find it odd. I’ve seen it on other videos on this channel. Also, I think some airlines even have an sop to “guard” the controls below a certain altitude when on AP. As an aside, it seemed as though the FO might have been new to the type because he seemed to be directing his comments about the thrust reduction on climb to the FO as well as us.

    • @FlyingSi

      GNX157 there’s guarding the controls and then there’s this. I’d not be happy with that at all.

    • @AA752
      @AA752 4 роки тому

      We did it in both my previous and current aircraft. I am never offended since I know everyone does it when I’m flying and I do it when everyone else is flying. You are a much better pilot monitoring when you actively shadow the controls because you notice not only what the aircraft is doing, but also if it is reacting appropriately to the inputs. The example I like to give is asymmetric flaps. As the PM, if I ever feel the PF start to input a roll command when I move the flap lever, but we aren’t turning, I know it’s probably an asymmetric flap malfunction. In the aircraft I flew, the fix is to reverse the flap handle movement, which will lock the flaps in their current position. If you wait more than a couple seconds to react, the aircraft is unrecoverable.
      Now as an instructor, I can notice things like “snatching” the stick during the flare and take the aircraft before we ever have the chance to get a stick shaker or buffet.

      Honeywell Avionics...way better than the competition. Boom will not have a drooping nose to reduce weight and a track based SVS on the lower displays combined with head worn HUD type technology will make that type of an operation, even in challenging weather, much safer. Anyone notice the leaking windshield when plane hit runway on second landing? Look to the left of the pilot between 10 feet and impact!

    So this may be a dumb question, but are there backup analog instruments on this plane in case the crew loses all those glass displays? Or is that just considered technically impossible?

    • @McBoeingDrVr
      @McBoeingDrVr 4 роки тому +3

      There’s a standby glass ADI that will also show you LOC/GS

    • @FlyingSi
      @FlyingSi 4 роки тому +2

      Not dumb at all. Physical instruments are very much a thing of the past now. I think glass tends to be significantly more reliable!

    I’m surprised how they can see and read the screens on the control panel when there is bright sunlight coming in through the glass. I find it difficult in a car and I don’t think it’s on account of my poor vision. Or is it? Great video btw.

    Anyone notice the leak of water that dripped (from the captain seat window seam?) at touchdown? Go to 14:00 minutes into the video. I hope that's not a problem that goes unaddressed!

    • @dredddlokk
      @dredddlokk 4 роки тому +8

      Most likely only a bit of frozen condensed water that thawed after reaching lower (and warmer) altitudes. Happens all the time, no reason to worry. 😉

    • @ModoVuelo

      It’s normal due to humidity inside the cockpit and the low temperatures during cruise level creates ice and when landing that ice returns to be liquid again 🥶

    • @examinerian

      Pilot notes: Evidence of water leak in cockpit.
      Ground crew notes: Evidence removed.

    Why are the captain`s hands on the yoke? If you don`t trust your FO don`t let him fly but don`t ever have input on the controls when the other one is the PF!!!

    It looks like during the first landing in Munich, the first officer selects asymmetric reverse thrust, or am I wrong? (approx. 5:20)
    EDIT: It seems that the Engine 1 Reverser is inoperative during the whole video.

    • @GNX157
      @GNX157 4 роки тому

      Va To At 3:50 during landing explanation, he mentions yes thrust reverser but MEL is applied to calculation, and says that one reverser is inoperative.

      Va To It really is a non event, in every EU country Ive flown to the use of full reverse is restricted to daylight hours and only when necessary.
