I was watching live. I was in middle school on a weekend night and was watching the game with my dad. Getting ready to get up and go to bed when all of a sudden madness breaks out and we're watching live brawl and are glued to the tv.. we couldn't believe what we had seen. It was so great.
I remember that Zo and Larry fight😆. Glad to have grown up seeing 90's and late 80's NBA. Not necessarily bc of the fights, it was just an awesome time for basketball
I agree- bb today is way to much preening/flopping/showmanship/faking being hurt. Just play the damn game. Everybody gets mad once In awhile. Deal w it and go on.
During 90es basketball peaked. Since the beginning of the century, everything went down pretty rapidly and now it all looks like a child's play... of preschool children.
@@damyr I agree that NBA Basketball just isn't as competitive as it was in the 80's and 90's. However I say that the competitiveness slowly departed from the game during the 2010's. All the greats also start to leave the sport. Leaving the NBA devoid of star power to a degree.
1.Ben Wallace Vs Ron Artest 2.Darryl Dawkins Vs Maurice Lucas 3.Jr Smith Vs Nate Robinson 4.Michael Jordan Vs Reggie Miller 5.Alonzo Evening vs Larry Johnson 6.Kobe Bryant Vs Chris Childs 7.Shaq vs Barkley
I know I grew up watching Kobe’s highlights everyday and every game I could but ima be honest Kobe lost the fight but he stood up for himself and that’s what matters
Oh my god, I vaguely remembered the Mourning/Johnson fight but did not know about that Jeff Van Gundy part... This video had me cackling so loud in my kitchen. He was a memorable coach in my youth and a good announcer today, but I'll love him forever for this one. Thank you
@@kleinequietboykleinequietb7126 I was thinking the same thing. I know sometimes people will change the spelling to match the other word, but even the palace doesn't have two l's in it. Horrible spelling.
If you think that a major entertainment corporation is "going soft" when their employees physically assault a few paying patrons on national TV... yes that is when they "went soft". Of course you could also say that is when the lawyers looked at them and said you better clean this up or you are going to go broke.
Score 1 for Derrick Harper. That was an impressive take down. That Bulls vs. Knicks rumble now looks a lot more violent than it initially looked after watching the video multiple times.
I saw the Piston Indiana game on TV. Glad I stayed to the end. Indiana players barely got off the floor and all were assaulted with anything the fans had. Everyone was looking forward to their next game, but nothing happened.
I remember watching the Malice at the Palace live. I couldn't believe what I was seeing was real. That kind of stuff just doesn't happen, but it did and man was it crazy!!!
Van Gundy didn't really go for Zo's leg, its just that his timing to break up the fight made him slip and grab Mourning's legs. Love how the Oak Man ate Zo's punch.
Very good, gotta find some 1970s 80s fights. Malice at the Palace,Artest shoulda gotten entire year suspension, maybe he did. Larry Bird was Pacers President at the time,he hated Pistons.
I remember that night. The Pacers came to Detroit to try to prove something but ended up leaving with kicked asses. Then we gave them a beer and popcorn shampoo to remember us by. Hey Indiana, don't come to Michigan with your bullshit or you'll be manhandled. I thought you knew!
Bird was killing Dr J (like he always did). J didn't like being out scored 42 to 6 by bird. They had words. Then Malone and Barkley held birds arms while J punched him. Coward act by J.
@ Daniel Dobrosky You not seriously thinking J was better than Bird. Did you fall and hit your head? Bird top 5 of all time. J maybe top 25 of all time.
You forgot to mention the night Willis Reed beat up the entire Lakers team! When you watch the film you'll notice Kareem was no where around. Rumors had it that Kareem was afraid of Willis Reed. Walt Frazier was quoted as saying that Willis was the captain in quotations! No body messed with Willis! In a time in NBA history with the toughest "mowfow's" playing.
The best fight ever was don Nelson against Tom Hoover at the old Los Angeles sports arena. Neison, a Laker kept badgering Hoover, a piston, I think, until Hoover turned and one punched him into oblivion. A broken jaw later Nelson was never the same. Although over 50 years ago I can still see and hear that punch!
Ok, let me know if I'm tripping.....Malice at the Palace.....police charge 5 players w/assault and battery....WHAT ABOUT THE FANS THAT WAS CAUGHT FIGHTING???
Terrible narration. Too much unneccessary snark, from someone who didn't see any of these live. Jeff Van Gundy, with barely over a .500 record, one of the "greatest coaches this league has ever seen"?! Lol!
Why Dr. J vs Bird picture in the title when their brawl clip is not even incuded in this video???
Use of click bait, which pisses me off.
@Suck AButt It's not in the title, but there's a picture of the two of them in the inset frame.
Omg!! Lord, somebody go get coach from around that player's ankles...PLEASE!! 🙌🏾😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Absolutely. The game was just so much more competitive then along with being a little bit more physical.

Wasn't Mallace at the Palace the reason the NBA went soft?
No, Knicks/Heat from 1998. The league did not want players running into the stands to fight fans as what took place in the Mallace at the Palace
Sebastian Chavez yup , Motown throw down 🇺🇸⚓️

I love watching malice at the palace lol it's so fun to watch
Dope video, Mixed Tape Videos. Honored to have my music in it.
Oh God they uploaded!!
7:26 The final score of this game is the most mindblowing part of the whole video to me
I remember when I was younger. Watching Darryl Dawkins n Maurice Lucas fight. That's old school enforcers right there.
I watched the malice in the palace live in the hospital after my daughter was born. I remember thinking "get em fans Ron artest is a punk"..lol
Bri at the end, that dud got rocked by that punch I couldn't stop laughing about it😂
Mike already made this video. I wanted your clips to be alittle longer and I still feel like Artest was justified.
Score 1 for Derrick Harper. That was an impressive take down. That Bulls vs. Knicks rumble now looks a lot more violent than it initially looked after watching the video multiple times.
I Like the action! That is why Hockey is my favorite sport to watch on TV!Hockey is not the same as it it was back in the 70's and the 80's
That's a Technical Foul

Jealous of DOC. Other way around sunshine.

When Barkley played for the rockets and he and shaq fought...
Dr. J delivered that joker a spicy 3-piece!

Gabe Good the face?? Snotface got punched in the neck, and even at that he barley hit him..

Kermit Washington & Rudy Tomjononich!

Kareem Jabar who was a black belt at the time...and. Bill Walton
