    I have really enjoyed watching your video series. I'm not a medical professional, but I am a frequent consumer of medical services, and I appreciate being able to learn about the tech stuff. It puts my mind at ease. Next time I'm wheeled into the O.R. I'll know what's going on...until they put the mask on me.

    I really enjoy your videos and find them extremely informative. I am a new surgical tech student here at CSN. I have always suspected you were here in Vegas and your Mountain View scrubs may have confirmed it. If so I hope I get the opportunity to train with you next semester during clinicals. Look forward to your next video.

      +Lacey Wittrock Sadly our hospital doesn't allow student techs any longer...we had an issue a couple year back with one. Serious enough to stop all student techs from ever coming back. We do have general surgery residents and nursing students still though. Maybe sometime in the future they will allow it again..

    I’m starting school in January and I love you videos, I’m learning a ton and they all just get me excited to get started. But I wear glasses to see, what do people that wear glasses do? Just keep them on? Because that’s what I do now as a dental Assistant and then just clean them when I’m done with each patient

    Those lead aprons only block 60% of the radiation that is emitted. How do you feel about that? Also, the lead aprons don't extend down to your lower leg area.

    You might've mentioned this and I missed it (and this might also seem like a dumb question), but is makeup allowed to be worn in the OR?

    • @SurgicalTechTips
      @SurgicalTechTips  6 років тому +1

      +Riley G. Bender makeup is allowed, nail polish is not supposed to be worn, and neither is any type of perfumes. That being said, doctors, techs, and nurses a like still do these things.

    • @SurgicalTechTips

      +lana lopez you don't have to. If you can just add side shields to you glasses (you can make them) that works. Honestly though, most people just wear their glasses though...it's kind of a risk in my opinion though because it's just as easy to get a fluid or blood splash down the side of the glasses as it is in the front.

      @SurgicalTechTips  6 років тому

      +Harth23 in cases where you may see a lot of splatter and fluid like an arthroscopy I will use a face shield to prevent that. Almost all Ortho cases are done using hoods as well to prevent that as well.

    I'm a dental assistant. I did my clinical with an oral surgeon, an i loved it! Now I'm working for a general dentist an I don't like it. Once in awhile he does an extraction an I'm always so excited to assist. Well anyways, I'm really interested in the surgical tech program, it's an associate's degree here though, do you think it's worth the 2yrs? I live in south TX. But I know alot about sterilisation, PPE, pathogens, I take xrays, and I assist an you gotta be focused, an I know all doctors are different, some mean some cool.
